We’ve been to this restaurant 3 times but this time we could not sit there one more second. We literally walked out of the restaurant. This was not the first time we were treated like this but this time I had to leave some comment on here for them to improve for other customers. We sat at the table for 25 min. without any service. We did not even get the menu. We were like ghosts sitting at the table while all the waitress’ were passing by. They didn’t even look at us. We are never going back to this restaurant again. Period!!!

Bad service all around apparently. We came in ordered then about 7 other parties came in after. After about the third family that received their order, we asked one of the waiters if our order was even put in and he rudely just said yes and turned away. When he came back he said the order was put in –_– Now almost all seven of the families got their orders and we were still sitting there waiting for something… anything ! About 50 minutes later our first order of the kungpao shrimp came out. After all this wait, we were already furious. No apology, no notice of food coming out late, no acknowledgement whatsoever. Now the kungpao shrimp was about $ 21 so we were expecting it to be presentable, but it was played as if they just threw it on there sitting out for some time. This made us lose our appetite so we just left after letting the front person/manager know of the poor service and not to do this to other people again. TLDR: the service sucks and they don’t really care apparently either if you order and sit there for 40 minutes. No common sense of the waiters

Best(Korean)-Chinese place around the area! Great food, great service! I tried the green pepper seafood noodle soup and it was amazing. I’ve been sick for the past couple days so I wanted something spicy and with soup, and I was completely satisfied with the choice I made. You must try the sweet and sour pork(tang-soo-yuk), too! I love this place.

I have now eaten here 5 times and the food never fails to disappoint… The owner goes out of his way to be gracious. Service is great & quick combined with the great tasting food… I drive 15 mins out of my way to come to this fine establishment. Note… Place is packed on a Monday night at 6:30…THIS makes sense since the food is soooooo tasty… ENJOY!

For me, kkanpoong Shrimp was very bad. They are busy so service won’t be good in the weekend. TRY their noodle menu. Those are always nice like jjachangmyun and jjambong

This Chinese restaurant prepares food geared towards Korean customers. We were told the food is pretty good here, so we paid a visit to try a few dishes. We ordered black noodles, spicy seafood noodle soup, and sweet and sour beef. The portions were not the largest I’ve seen, but they were quite tasty enough for us to want to come back to try other dishes. Food is food, but what stood out about this restaurant was what happened at the end of the meal. My husband and I realized neither of us had brought our wallets. Obviously, we had nothing to pay the bill with. We called one of our grown children for the rescue, and while we were waiting, we were handed the check. My husband was waiting outside for our son, and I explained to the manager about our situation and offered apologies. It is then when he said not to worry about it, that we can leave our phone number and pay during our next visit. This simple kind gesture made all the difference about this business establishment. What an evet lasting first impression!

Finally! I’ve found a place for Chinese food that makes me happy. I know they have several locations but I like this location better. The owner was really friendly and the restaurant is pretty clean. I know from now on, I’ll be coming here when I’m craving for sweet and sour beef. Happy customer ^^

I haven’t written a review in over 10 years, but compelled to write this place one. This place was crowded on Christmas Eve, probably because Kings Garden no longer exists and Too cold to sit outside for Mr. Pains Noodles. So I put my name down… and waited. The owner who looked like the previous Cho Man Won owner skipped our name 3 times and over probably to get his regulars in. So I’m thinking whatevers… I’m a pretty easy going guy. I ordered sweet and sour pork and jjamppong and ul myun(broth noodles). The sweet and sour came out pretty quick. It tasted just like(Cho Man Won’s the previous name of the former establishment) and was just blah. The pork was so chewy and rubbery. I was ok with this since it just tasted like any other Korean Chinese place. The real problem begins now… we waited and waited about 25 minutes and the jjamppong didn’t come out. I asked several times and they just brushed me off and told me to wait. Another 10 minutes pass and they tell me they are making new broth. So I said ok and waited. Another 10 minutes and it still didn’t come out. So I asked to change to jjajang and they complied. Mind you everyone else’s jjamppong around us came out on time. I finally waited another 10 minutes and got the jjajang. In total waited about 50 minutes for something I could have gotten at Mr. Paik’s noodles in 5 minutes. It was Christmas Eve and our in-laws were gracious enough to watch our kids to get a quick bite to eat. But the evening was ruined. Just go eat at Mr. Paik’s where everything is fresh and no incompetence! Wish Kings garden would come back to existence!

Never go to this place. They will never treat you as a customer. Not even as a human. We got there and we were waiting but nobody approached. I asked waiters and manager guy how long is the wait. They completely ignored me 3 times and manager guy handed me a waiting list paper without saying anything. If you find a seat then maybe they will treat you as a human. If you happened to walk in to full house, They won’t even greet you. I am just in awe there’s a restaurant existing. I will never go to this place again. If you are planing to go, Good Luck. I don’t know how good the food is. Korean Chinese food all taste same to me anyways. SHAME!!!

I lived around the block from their Glendale location — I ate there sometimes twice a week. I have been desperately looking for a new spot in La Mirada — where I now live. Imagine my delight when I found out they have a spot under half a mile from my new place. On this cold day all I wanted was egg drop soup. Ordered take out and got home to egg drop soup with tons of tofu in it — if you are a fan of tofu it would have been a great treat– I have a pretty bad tofu allergy — I drove my happy but right back to House of Joy and explained my dilemma — with out question they remade my dish and did so with a smile on their face. I am so glad to be this close to a quality spot — I look forward to renewing our weekly dinners house of joy!

This place is always missing order or have the order all mixed up. Won’t get some food till your done with your meal. They must be short on staff or disorganized. Owner needs to set up a better way to do business before they get more unhappy customers. Need to check their Togo orders before sending it out. Their so called«credit after you get home doesn’t work when someone doesn’t get to eat! And when you do ask for this credit you will never get it since they don’t remember who noted it! I gave them another try. first 2 times missing order 3rd time their food was bad!

Having been to Heung Lae Gak(house of joy) in Los Angeles, I thought I was going to be in for a treat. I was not even hungry but decided to drag my wife to lunch here. We walked into a nicely decorated restaurant. We sat down and finally about 5 minutes later, the owner came and asked us for the order. My wife had the Champong/Ja Jang Myun combination $ 10 and I had the Spicy Shrimp lunch special for $ 10.(a little steep for a lunch special but, as long as there is value in it, I am good.) Shortly there after, a waitress brought what looked like Cabbage Kimchi(made with american cabbage vs. Chinese Napa Cabbage) but it sure did not taste like one. At this point, I know we were not getting treats at this meal. About 15 minutes later, the table next to us who ordered 5 minutes after us got there food. Ok, no big deal. A little bit later, my wife get here lukewarm Champong/Ja Jang Myun. Oh the disappointment. Finally, as I watched her eat for about 5 minutes, my Spicy Shirmp finally came out. I was disappointed to see the 10 anorexic shrimp sitting on this big gigantic white plate. Needless to say, we will not be coming back here any longer.

tried out here for the 1st time after they opened in oc. after trying out jjajang myun, jjamppong, tang su yook and seafood fried rice. over all decent food taste but for the price i think hongkong bam jum thats across this restaurant tastes much better. 8.99 vs 5.99. and it aint worth 12.99 for the seafood fried rice. a ripoff. fried rice with some shrimp and and octupus.

Food is decent, what you paid for is what you get but the service is still crap. I had to get up several times to get the attention. Mind you this was lunch time. Most but not all restaurants know especially that area knows people come out to lunch. There were two servers working and on of them seems to be son of the owner. The restaurant had little over 20people. Either way. I had to get up several times to get the bill and pay. I stood in front of the register while the guy was there and clearly I wasn’t there to check him out. Anyways their serve still sucks but at least food is good…

Nice restaurant and clean environment! I’m excited to try all their foods! Large menu and option choices. Lunch specials from 11−3pm. Got the jjajjamyeong. The sauce tastes good, but the noodles were cooked a little too much that they had that soggy texture. But it might’ve just been a mistake this time. Jjampong is okay. Seafood contained is one shrimp, one clam, one very small crab leg, and pieces of squid. Great hot tea and side dishes.(Updated: side dish not consistent) Need to come here again and see if chicken is that good… the other foods have been so-so

Decided to go for take-out and check this place out. It was really nice. They were closing soon or else we would have liked to sit there and eat. They were very friendly and we got our food pretty quick. The food was great, I think we found our new Chinese spot :)

The restaurant facility was very neat and clean. The servers and the host manager were very kind And putting their best effort to make customers satisfaction, the menu has created by restaurant owner Richard. K and very unique chicken dish called, Beijing chicken(Deep fried chicken wing and marinated special house sauce) was so crispy and tender, and other dishes such as Hot & spicy shrimp called Beijjing hot shrimp.

It’s about time! House of Joy is finally coming to Buena Park, which means hand-made noodles, fresh ingredients, and the infamous Beijing chicken! Gotta try the black bean noodles and the chicken when they open
