i love gamjatang. Granted I’ve only tried gamjatang from 4 other places but theres something lacking in this broth. It’s not as spicy or as herby as it should be. It didn’t hit the spot

I came here on Sunday during peak dinner hours ~6pm. Place was empty but decided to give them a shot. I ordered a Gamja Tang and a Clam Kal Guk Soo. The Gamja tang was bland and the Kal Guk Soo had a funny smell. I was very disappointed with both dishes and will not be coming back. The side dishes that they served also did not taste good.

Lunch specials only from Monday– Friday. I got the gamjatang and my friend got the yookgaejang. Both were insanely delicious. The portions are generous, and the service is great as well.

Wow! I love trying new places, and this place did not friggin’ disappoint! My bud and I decided to share the Spicy Sausage Casserole called«Budae jjigae»(I think). What’s interesting is the historical context on how this dish was prepared from the Korean War. But I digress, it was so amazing. Who would think that hot dogs would compliment a spicy chili-paste stew so well? I loved how the ingredients tasted so fresh when the side dishes and stew were brought out. Strangely, the stew didn’t come with any beans like in the picture, but it’s cool. What praise I can commend is the great service. The lady who helped us out was incredibly welcoming and nice with all smiles. The only slight complaint I can have was that it was slightly pricey for my personal taste. But that’s only cause I’m a cheap bastard. :)

THE best gamja tang in a 20 miles radius! I crave it all the time. Odd Sunday hours though, they open at 2PM! I showed up around 115, hangry af, and was unwilling to wait the 45 mins remaining. We decided to go to Sommunan in Cerritos instead. Sommunan does an amazing nengmyun(cold buckwheat noodles), but their gamja tang was watery and bland. That same night, just 5 hours later I ended up returning to Gamja Tang House so satiate my cravings! tldr; BOMB. GONOW.

Good place to go for a *simple* soju night. Theres alot of bars and what not but i like somewhere I could drink soju with Gam Ja Tang. The food itself is good. Better than any Gam Ja Tang place around. You could tell by the meat quality in the stew as the meat just shreds right off the bone. Shitty meats are hard to eat and doesn’t peel off the bone easily. Alot of middle age korean comes here but good thing is you don’t see any college kids around. It might be my preference but when I want to have a conversation with people while drinking soju, i prefer not having some group of wild college kids trying to get shit face. (you need money for books but have money for drink? fucking go get a job) I could see this restaurant branching to other location. ITSTHATGOOD but not a 5star due to some annoying things around the restaurant. *if you cannot find parking, try parking at the back. not that many people knows this spot*

Food was okay but service was horrible. I went to this place with my parents and their friends 2 days ago and we happened to switch our seats 2 times because at one seat wind blew too much from the back and we had some argument with where to seat so we kinda dragged our waitresss. I made an apology to the waitresses for the inconveniclences and she replied that she will not serve us if we demand one more time. She kept on wining/complaining to us about how disturbing we are. I got mad and asked have we done something wrong? Then she stopped wining. Im not coming back to this place again. Owner should really considering changing the waitress. She was a short browm haired lady in her late 30s.

We ordered a pot of gam ja tang for four people. On the menu, it was written to serve 2 – 3 people however, it was more than enough for all four of us! It’s really good when you add udon noodles and they also make you fried rice with the remaining of the soup!

The gamjatang is pretty good. Perfect level of spice… not too spicy and not too mild. Every time I’ve been there, there has been only a few customers, so the service was not bad at all. The BEST part is the fried rice at the end!!! Last week, my husband and I went there and the owner came out and asked someone to translate for her to a plumber. My husband literally said 2 sentences and she gave us a gamjatang to go for free, completely unexpected… very nice of her.

Gamjatang is a fairly common dish at many Korean restaurants. So if you’re gonna say you specialize in it, it better be great. It’s was OK here. Nice quantity of bones that filled the bowl, but I’ve had meatier cuts at other places. The broth is the standard-issue: red pepper-intensive and slightly porky, that you find at most places. Ironically, I’ve found the best Gamjatang at restaurants that don’t make it their specialty. Ham Ji Park sets the standard, I think. Really a three star place but I hope they succeed.

They have 3 main casserole dishes: Pork, goat, and Korean military soup. Got the Korean military soup(Budae Jjigae) that has sausage, spam, ground beef, veggies and ramen noodles in a spicy broth… Was quite a disappointment Overall, I probably wouldn’t come back for several reasons: –Typical Korean service, 3 waitresses who are tired and busy… You have to wave your hand and flag them down then remind them again for your request –Ordered the Budae Jjigae… Definitely not close to the good ones I’ve had… Not much depth of flavor –Pricey –Banchan is average

Food was below average. The soup was not flavorful and was watery. Gamjatang is supposed to be rich and flavorful and have a lightly thicker consistency. I mean if you are going to specialize in something, might as well be great at it. Other Korean restaurants who don’t specialize in gamjatang seems to make it better. I also did not like the sides. My table also ordered bulgogi soup thing with clear noodles inside and it was absolutely gross. Bcd tofu house made it way better than them. Overall, prices are overcharged for what it is. It is a new experience but tasteless and not original. Oh and another minus of a star for service. Of course there are many employees working so service might be a hit or miss. But the three ladies who were working during my visit were horrible. First off we were sat in the back table when front tables were wide opened. One lady stayed at the counter in the front and the other two were«serving», more like staying in the kitchen. No one came to check up on how we were doing after we got our food. Twice we had to get up to ask for something and twice to get our own napkins on the side by the kitchen entrance. When we say excuse me or raise our hands, it goes unnoticed or ignored. Like the kitchen entrance is covered by a curtain hanging half way from the top. We see the ladies standing there doing nothing but talking or checking their phones. If that was the case, they should have sat us in the front where we can’t see them. Anyway, I would give it another try later in the future, but not anytime soon. It was a horrible first experience.

This is what love tastes like. Huge portions and never ending banchan. The servers were attentive and the prices are VERY good. They added the fresh greens on top of the gamjatang to keep it from getting too soggy. Definitely coming back!

What do Koreans enjoy eating? What’s a popular dish enjoyed by the majority of Koreans? Well, you come to the right Unilocal page and review. Pub BBQ(the former business at this location) was here for a long time and to admit, I never visited. It looked expensive and it seemed to be dead whenever I passed by. There were no word of mouth recommendations so I tended to ignore it. Fast forward to now, Pub BBQ finally succumbed and left the space. Ok so you want Korean food. All you know is Korean BBQ. Read further. Gam Ja Tang which is a pork bone stew, a rich and spiced base that is cooked with potatoes, onions, perilla leaves and pork necks. The proteins from the pork necks are fall off the bone tender and you may eat it as is and let it melt in your mouth or you can dip it into a soothing wasabi/soy sauce sauce and let the flavors do some dancing. The Wasabi sauce — Add soy sauce and mix together. Spicy Pork and Potato Stew(gamja tang) $ 31.99 — It’s the pork bone and neck stew portioned for 2 – 3 people as I described earlier that can be spicy to many. Eat it with the bowl of rice to enjoy the full experience. I recommend requesting the heat to be on low if you’re a slow eater because all the soup can evaporate if you don’t pay attention. I wish it was heated with the specially designed heater in the middle of the table like you see on some of the pictures that another Unilocaler posted. My stew was served and heated in a portable gas grill and it was disappointing because it takes away from the eating experience. I asked why this was and the server told me that something was wrong and that the pot didn’t fit correctly. I hope they fix the problem soon because the tables are somewhat small and I need space while eating. The portable gas grill can take surface area on your table sacrificing elbow room. When you go, please request that the stew be put in the middle(hopefully they have fixed this issue). Seafood pancake $ 13.99 — It’s a traditional Korea appetizer. It’s not like an American pancake, but has gotten it’s name because of the circular shape. It’s like a potato pancake minus the potato and filled with an assortment of seafood ingredients like squid, imitation crab and vegetables. Dip it in the special soy sauce they provide. Sides/side dishes I’m a sides guy meaning it holds dear to me. Sides are crucial. Whether it’s American style, Mediterranean style to Kimchi or any other Koreean side dish. I need sides with my entrées. Sides complete my meal. When the side dishes came out, they were mediocre and the overall flavor can be improved. But don’t let one setback prevent you from coming here. This is the same ownership as the one in Garden Grove that was known as Gam Ja Gol or Gae Sung Restaurant, but they had to change the name and made a fresh rebranding logo due to a restaurant having the same name in Los Angeles. The next popular Korean dish? Bossam or jok bal which is a Korean style pork belly or pork feet wrap with the options to put in garlic, oysters, salted baby shrimp and a special soy bean paste mix. There are only a few restaurants that specialize this as well and not many in Bunea Park yet. I have a good feeling one will make its debut soon. As soon as it does, I will review it I’m the future. As mentioed in most of my reviews, Korean restaurants have come a long way and is basically mainstream in Southern California and now Buena Park. Many food adventurers are curious and want to try the next popular Korean dish. Well this is one Korean dish that is widely popular with the locals and to native Koreans. Welcome to Buena Park, Gam Ja Tang House.

Finally a good gamja tang place in the area. GAMJATANGCASSEROLE is good for up to 2 – 3 people. If you need more you can order extra meat for around 10 bucks. Meats falls off the bones and soup is awesome. I always eat like 3 bowls of rice here. Soup and meat is just too good. Ask to get bibimbab after all the meat is gone. They mix it with rice and other ingredients. Good good food.

There is a picture of menu that someone else already posted, see that. I ordered for 6 people: Spicy Pork and Potato Stew($ 31.99 for 2 – 3 ppl) Black Goat Casserole($ 32.99 for 2) +The food is very delicious and worth what you pay. +There are 6 side dishes and they good as well +Can ask to have fried rice after the meal(but extra $ 1 per bowl of rice). –Small space. Most ideal for party of 4. There are 2 tables for 6. Works for 8 – 10 but will likely have to wait for two adjacent tables. –Will smell like food after eating. –Do have to ask for rice when ordering the stews. It’s a new joint that is worth trying and on special occasions for the traditional korean dishes.

popular and some waiting before seating. parking lot filled… pork neck and potato stew restaurant… six basic sides provided… order of the red stew to simmer at the table… spicy squid stir-fry plating also ordered… soju and beers to wash it all down… stew is family style and require about 3 people, but okay for 4… broth is medium spicy and pork meat is ultra tender… get between the bones for every piece of meat… spicy squid is loaded with vegetables and decent… wasabi and soy sauce dip for the pork meat if desired… request added orders of pork and potatoes… satisfying meal, but save room for the end… finish off with a fried rice happy ending for pure gluttony…

Pub restaurant was changed to Gamjatang House recently. Gamjatang house is famous for Pork Back-bone Stew(Gamja-tang). It looks like spicy but not really spicy. Gamjatang is made with pork back-bone, perilla leaves, onions, potatoes and hot peppers. After you finish to eat Gamjatang, you can ask to make fried rice with a Gamjatang soup, sea weed laver and sesame oil. It is really delicious. Try to eat«Spicy Pork & Potato Stew» on the menu. It is good enough for 2 to 3 people.
