Tried their fruit shaved ice and it was very bland… it just was fruits and red beans on top of ice, lacked so much flavor. I don’t understand the good reviews. I tried their hodo cookies(?) a couple of times before and it’s just red bean paste wrapped in bread. It tastes no different than hodo you could get at other Korean pastry shops. Lots of older Korean men and women who come over from Surah and BCD after dinner hours as well.

This is such a cute place. I tried to come here 2 previous times but it was my fault for coming around closing time since they stop making food about 30min to an hour before closing. However, it didn’t stop me from wanting to try it. When I did, I thought that it was such an adorable little shop with a wonderful product. They specialize in basically soft breaded pastries with walnuts at the core. The walnuts were always soft and warm. It went really well with a coffee. I thought it was an adorable shop because it was small and well decorated, and the activity of eating small pastries while drinking coffee is fun for me lol. I think it’d be a cool place to bring a girl(or guy depending on your preference) to chat and get to know them since the atmosphere of this place is peaceful, unique, warm, etc etc :)

Cocohodo is known for their cute bite-sized walnut pastries. They’re made fresh with warm red bean paste and a walnut. I like to come to Cocohodo to pick up gift boxes when I’m visiting friends at their homes for dinner parties. It’s a great gift because they’re delicious and nicely packaged into a cute little gift box. I usually get the small box($ 15.95) because it’s the perfect amount with 36 pieces. Everyone loves them!

Three stars for me folks. Came here after school to study/work for a bit. Ordered an iced Americano and a medium bag of pastries — I was pretty hungry and was hoping this would hold me over til dinner. The Americano was meh. Typical Korean bakery level stuff where everyone orders Americano because they think it’s fancy or something. But if you know coffee, this is no bueno. Beans taste burnt and was super watery. I asked the barista how many espresso shots this had, and he(sympathetically) said one. For a medium sized cup(maybe like 16 oz) full of ice, this is a kind of drink old Asian folks would drink. He gave me an extra shot for free. Nice guy. The pastries were decent. I really appreciated that every pastry had a big piece of walnut in it! No skimping here. They were individually wrapped(seems kinda a waste but they claim its for freshness) and warm when they came out. And this one was on me — I thought because they were called cocohodo, that these were chocolate filled. But they are not… class red bean. Usually I don’t like them because they’re too sweet, but I thought the ones here were sweet enough without overly being two sweet. So why I am sitting here at Stereoscope coffee co writing this review? Well my friends, there are two things you never want to mess with:(1) God, and(2) older Asian women. No I didn’t get into a tussle with an older lady. But I came here to work, and despite my earphones that have pretty good seal to them, the decibel level of these Asian ladies when they talk is out of this world. I thought maybe my earphones fell out, and so I pulled them out to settle them in again, but I was hit with a sonic boom of «Omg did your try this product? They say it’s good for your colon» or «She said that he was never going to buy the business in the first place» «omo omo omo». Now I love my people, but they were blessed with some pipes. And I can’t get any work done here. Plus Stereoscope’s coffee is just on another level.

Located in a plaza with other Korean restaurants and businesses with plenty of parking. I came by Cocohodo with my husband last Saturday early evening/late afternoon a little before 5 pm. There was no one in line, but one table of people drinking their coffee. This was our first time coming here and I knew they are known for their walnut pastries. So as we came in, we were immediately acknowledged by a lady behind the counter. I told her this was our first time. She then got a walnut pastry(nice and warm) and let us try one. She told us that they make these walnut pastries 4 times a day(so that they have a fresh batch daily). This walnut pastry is delicious and just confirmed the reason why I wanted to come here, so I ended up ordering 1 medium bag(comes with 15 pieces) of these($ 5.95 total, no tax is charged). Inside this cute little walnut pastry is one walnut and red bean filling. The filling isn’t too sweet, but just sweet enough. The added crunch from the walnut gives a nice nutty flavor that complements the red bean filling. I would definitely come back here to buy more of these again in the future. By the way, I asked the lady if I need to place them in the fridge. She said if it is after 2 days, then you should. But is okay to be left out if you finish it within the 2 days. Although she did not say, but I did reheat the walnut pastry in the microwave for 20 seconds before eating(honestly these taste best warm). By the way, this place also sells macrons, tea, coffee and other drinks in case you do decide to dine in(there are a few small tables inside and there is also one clean unisex restroom).

Came here, because I just wanted to try a new place. Told the guy at the cash register that it was my first time here and he recommended the walnut pastries. I also wanted coffee, so I ordered the house coffee. Took my food and drink and left. Tried a pastry(I liked the fact that it was warm). Anyways, it’s an okay pastry – I personally don’t get the hype about it, but I’m not going to bash them for it. Just sayin’. Also, decent house coffee. Again, not the best, but not the worst.

Came here with my friend for a catchup date and to try their bingsoo. Got the Berry one but asked for green tea ice cream instead of whatever flavor ice cream they normally give. We got a medium for ~$ 8 and it was a good size for the two of us. I think they gave us too much red bean and not enough ice though. The red bean/ice ratio made the bingsoo too sweet. But everything else was delicious. Also tried their walnut-red bean pastries(which apparently they’re famous for). It wasn’t too sweet and my parents loved it. They also have waffles and macarons which I look forward to trying next time.

I come here a little too often. My brother jokes that I probably bought $ 1000 worth of hodogwaja over the past couple years. But these little bite sized walnut pastries filled with bean paste are so perfect for gift-giving I cannot resist them! They are especially yummy when they are hot out of the oven. Next time you have a family gathering, please take them a medium box, your aunts, uncles, grandmas and grandfathers will LOVE you!

Randomly came here on morning whim and was happy to have stopped by. I grabbed a Handy Box for the Cocohodo Walnut Pastry. This was my first try into this pastry and man… this is a fantastic item to have. Soft and not overly obtrusive with the walnuts, but the right balance of dough and walnut. I have tried other walnut pastries since coming here and others just don’t compare. In addition to this I ordered an Iced Coco Latte. This is a bit sweet for my liking, but an okay drink to have, just not with the pastry. Definitely stopping by more often when I’m in the area.

I came here for their patbingso… aaaaaand it was absolutely mediocre. I expect my fruit patbingsos to come with a hefty variety of fruit, azuki beans, condensed milk, mochi balls, cereal, and a huge huuuuuuuge serving of roasted grain powder(misugaru). It’s especially awesome when you can mix it all together for that perfect bite. Oh the joy! Patbingsos are intended to give hope to the hopeless… ESPECIALLY on a hot summer’s day. Their berry patbingso came with some strawberries, blueberries, bananas, azuki beans, mochi balls… and a miserable sprinkle of misugaru. I mean… did they even try? Where’s the love y’all? I don’t know. Where’s the truth y’all? I don’t know… What’s wrong with the world, mama People livin’ like they ain’t got no mamas I think the whole world addicted to the drama Only attracted to things that’ll bring you trauma This thing that they presented to me… It was my trauma. This experience has become my dark place. A place that I go to to regret every decision I’ve made in my life.

The quality of the hodo gwaja here is exceptional. The ratio of red bean to walnut to exterior is great and there are few joys greater than eating one of these just made and still warm. In terms of their famous, this place is a huge 5. I also tried their coffee bingsoo which dropped this review to what I wish could be a 4.5. The red bean was a little overwhelming and I found it hard to balance with the icy coolness of the shaved ice that I come to expect from this fave summer treat of mine. Overall a great place :)

Sometimes, even Filipinos have blonde moments. Case in point… So, I come to Buena Park to attend a wedding. But, because I’m always looking for the local city’s best delicacies, I turned to Unilocal.First, I found a great Korean food spot for delicious homemade cooking( ). But, as my Unilocal tagline refers to, I’m always looking for dessert. While it’s hard enough for a place to get a cumulative 4-star Unilocal rating, a 4 and a half star rating is exponentially harder. But, that’s what Cocohodo was. We went straight over there before going home. What they’re known for is these Walnut and Red Bean pastries. When served warm, they are delicious! How did I know? Because they gave me a free sample. After the sample, I got a gift box to take home to the rest of the family. Everyone else seemed to echo my statement. Even they next day, they were good. Especially when warmed for a few seconds in the microwave. This is a place I would definitely go back to if I was ever in Buena Park again… or willing to drive 5 minutes from my house. Apparently, this is a chain and there is a branch near my house. Good job, Jamie. And, that’s my blonde moment. But, speaking of blondes… «A blonde, a redhead, and a brunette were all lost in the desert. They found a lamp and rubbed it. A genie popped out and granted them each one wish. The redhead wished to be back home. Poof! She was back home. The brunette wished to be at home with her family. Poof! She was back home with her family. The blonde said, «Awwww, I wish my friends were here.»

Nice location, very cute little storefront. Service was excellent as well. I got a small box to go, 10 warm little bundles of joy, it is an aquired taste, but after the second bite I was hooked. Only get as many as yo can eat right away, once they are no longer warm, they are by far not as good. Nice to try something different, not too sweet and I am sure great with some coffee.

All Cocohodo locations offer consistently same taste. So what made me rate this location a 5star place? The service and mind set of the employee. I came in an hour and a half before closing, they didn’t have fresh batch. One of the girls told me that they made them at around 7 ish, so the hodo gwa jas are not piping hot, but too cold either, they are still warm.(What a descriptive explanation! I love it) She doesn’t offer a sample(maybe she would, if I were a cute guy or a famous Unilocaler, or a regular? Lol, I don’t know), but she is definitely willing to meet a customers satisfation. I asked her when fresh batches come out through out a day, she said 5 times, for morning, 15 minutes after opening, for evening, 7 to 8 in the evening, also she offered if I call ahead before, she could pre-bake them. What a great way to serve your customer? I love how much she is informative and knows what’s going on at the store. I have three other locations near me before I get to this location, but I am absolutely driving more to come here. Now I know where to come get my Hodo balls craving fixed.

I’ve been traumatized by caffe benes so called«mojito» I definitely like cocohodo’s version of mojito lot better! I’ve been so hooked on mango berry mojito. It has mango and strawberry bits with mojito flavoring syrup mixed with tonic water I think… And lime and mint I personally wish they would crush the mint leaves and add it together but since they don’t, I ask for extra mint to maintain the«mojito» taste and extra like slices because it can get too sweet! Try it, I highly recommend it

The walnut pastry is good. But pricey. Shaved ice is alright. Its worth trying, but nothing that makes it unique. The shaved ice is like the mini cube ices. Nice place to hang, grab a drink or dessert, and chill. Comfortable seats. Place is for smaller sized parties(1 – 4 people)

Hidden treasure! My boss, an older Korean man, brought these into work once day. They’re cute with cute packaging. At that moment, I thought. this must be great for parents, aunts, uncles, etc. So I quickly spotted the label and saved it as a bookmark and knew it would come in handy! A few months later, I brought these to my bf’s grandma’s birthday party. I got(2) boxes of 15 pcs, nicely and individually wrapped and packaged perfectly! $ 13 for both boxes! As soon as we arrived to his uncle’s house, it was a hit! I’m so happy everyone loved these little red bean/walnut treasures! A lot of them even wanted to take some home, but they went quick! YAY, they’re in loovee with the co-co! Happy me, definitely coming back for future family functions!

This place is great for a pick me up after dinner. I was feeling sleepy so I got the affagato — I think the cheapest one ever in my life? It was 3.50 and so yummy. The espresso was strong and the vanilla bean subtle — perfect combination! Highly recommend. I also ordered the green tea mochi with red bean. It comes out of the fridge and the coldness really makes the red bean more appealing. The green tea was also subtle and the mochi so fresh and soft. It was $ 1.50 for one. All in all I would come back and try it all! :)

First Impressions/Décor: modern coffee house Food quality: 4 Stars The Coccohodo is awesome. It is a small walnut size pastry with ½ a walnut inside with a red bean filling. This is the main thing they sell as far as food, plus they sell coffee and a variety of drinks. Service: 5 Stars They are always fast and pleasant Cost of food and coffee: 4 Stars Average beverage cost. The Coccohodo cost $ 7.99 for a large bag and $ 11.25 for an extra large bag. Cleanliness: 5 Stars The place is kept up and clean. I love their chairs and tables. Overall experience: 4.5 Stars Great place to go, we still by every time we are in the area and sometime we go there just to get the Coccohodo. Try it…
