Came in with a group of 6 today just after 1pm for lunch. We were in the mood for Mexican and heard good things but had never checked out this specific location. Anyway, we were seated and ordered, and then things started to go downhill from there. To preface this, it wasn’t very busy when we got there as it was hot and nearing the end of the lunch hour. One of the guys in our group ordered a Sprite which had no syrup and just seltzer. Ok, he asked for a replacement soda, but the waitress forgot about it. No replacement ever came. Next, as the food starting coming out, it looked like a takeout order was being processed, but in the mean time, half of our table’s food was just sitting there under a heat lamp. Just sitting there. The cook even rang the bell a few times, but it just sat there. I had to ask the waitress if that was our food that’s been sitting there for about 8 – 10 minutes, and she said yes, and then finally brought it out. The waitress never asked us if we needed any refills on our drinks(we had to call her over every time). And when a couple of us wanted water refills and her pitcher ran out, she threw her hands in the air and tossed her head back in disgust. Finally, she refilled the last cup that needed water and proceeded to drip water on my lap while doing so. Finally, the food itself was mediocre at best, but maybe it would have been better if it wasn’t sitting under a heat lamp for so long. The nachos were decent, the fish taco was a bit bland but tolerable, and the carne asada taco was on the dry side. But, I’ve had worse. If the service were better, I would’ve given them 3 stars, but this was a borderline 1.5 stars with everything in mind.

Came here with my friend before seeing a movie across the street at BMFI — it was the perfect quick inexpensive bite. Started with chips and homemade guacamole, which was very mild but good. I chose the chorizo soft tacos, which came with 2, filled with excellent quality just spicy enough chorizo and the rest of the stuff tacos come stuffed with — they were awesome. I could’ve eaten more, but probably would have slept through the movie(instead of just for a couple minutes :). YUM and sooo inexpensive. The atomsphere is clean, cheerful, very casual. Will definitely be back for more!

AWESOME! My girlfriends and I just came here for some mexican, drinks and chatting and had a great time. The food was super tasty, the atmosphere was great, the prices are low and our server was THEBEST. I would go to any restaurant this kid served at. Great experience — go to this El Limon location if you have a chance!

Not all it’s cracked up to be? I had heard many positive things about El Limon but was underwhelmed by my dinner there tonight. That’s not to say that the food is bad; it’s actually very solid, it just didn’t blow my mind. I got the chips and guac to start and I liked the chunky guac style with lots of tomato and pieces of avocado. Maybe I should have gone with the tacos al pastor, but I was in the mood for fish tacos. These were just a little bland. I liked that the fish tasted very fresh, but there was not a lot of flavor aside from the plentiful onions. The food came out very quickly, but don’t expect the friendliest of service. Overall, I like the prices and I think I’ll give them another shot.

Recommended more as a lunch spot than a dinner place. Tacos were fine — the tacos al pastor are highly recommended as they seem to have the most flavor compared to the other tacos in which the flavor of the meat is overpowered by the cilantro and onion. Otherwise, the meat in the tacos(I tried steak and chorizo in addition to al pastor) is sometimes flavorless and lost in the overall taste of the taco. Definitely ask for the free margarita if you’re interested — they probably won’t offer it to you since it’s not really too great. Watered down and served a little warm. Still, can’t beat free. The chips/guac/salsa platter stole the show. The guac is creamy, cool, and a little chunky — great for dipping. The salsa is surprisingly delicious — bright, flavorful, and just enough heat balanced out with the juiciness of the fresh tomatoes. I’d honestly come back just for another platter of that. Chips are meh — kind of hard at first, but grows on you. Great value overall, but forgettable in terms of flavor.

We regularly eat here, this is true Mexican casual food, unlike Chipotle and such. We typically get some chips and salsa and share a bunch of tacos and main courses with friends. They are a BYOB but give out free margaritas(3 max) which is great. Try it!

Left the waitress, Alejandra, a cash tip and paid with a credit card. She added tip to my credit slip where I had put a line through the tip section. Thief!!!

Yesterday was my first time here and wow love the décor of this location. I dine at Ambler frequently so I already knew I loved the food. This location is an equal competitor. Great staff, great food, nice authentic atmosphere. I always get the chips/guacamole and steak tacos. I’ve tried other items on the menu and they are okay but never compare to the tacos. Definitely give this establishment a try if you haven’t already or are in the mood for a good taco. Cheap prices too with fresh ingredients.

My Mom and I ate here for lunch yesterday. She insisted I write a review because she doesn’t «Yelp» and wanted this fine eatery to receive its due credit. We split the fish tacos and tacos dorados. Then we each had a flan custard dessert(which we could have easily shared). Everything tasted wonderful, the fresh ingredients were in fact light and refreshing, and portion sizes were perfect(for two gals who love to eat mind you). This place – so surprisingly cheap, especially for the area – has been added to our canon of homey, nourishing restaurants to go for no-frills, food-y food.

Some hits, some misses. Do not get the Caesar salad — not anything«steak»(a mis label for sure). Tasty tortilla soup, great flavor. The sauces are excellent except the mole is exceptionally sweet. Good for the prices.

My husband and I ate here for dinner tonight(2⁄25) and everything we had was delicious! At first we thought we over ordered, but we were hungrier than what we thought. I got two supreme tinga tacos and 1 supreme carnitas taco which were by far the best I’ve had(wayyyy better than qdoba)! We also tried the doradas(sp?) and they were just as delicious! My husband ordered the shrimp fajitas and he seemed to enjoy them quite a bit. We literally finished all of our food. Oh, can’t forget our side of rice as well! Let’s just say there weren’t any leftovers. This will definitely be our to go to spot for Mexican in the mainline!

I literally live right about this place so you could say I am a frequent customer. I am going to go out and say this place has amazing food! The flavor is great, their sauces are great and the value can’t really be beat especially in the area. I might be being a bit unfair giving them 4 stars for only one reason. and I guess for some it might be a fair reason and for others grossly unfair. The reason being, the food they serve may be delicious and flavorful but it is not healthy by any means. I mean coming back from Mexico City, real Mexican food it not healthy by any means, so if you want authentic this is the closest I have gotten in a while. However, you definitely won’t be doing your health any good by coming here very often, which is why I gave them 4 stars. As for some tips on their food: Their burritos are massive and that’s what my friends and I usually get. The other day I tried enchiladas for the first time with their mole sauce and I was pleasantly surprised. Their mole was just right, not too sweet, and just enough flavor. I would definitely get it again. We usually always start off the table with their loaded chicken nachos which was to die for, our table usually finishes literally instantly. Of course this place is also great because it’s BYOB and they even give you a free margarita when you dine in! Don’t forget to bring ID though!

Went here last Saturday night for the first time and was very happy with the experience. The food was delicious, the service was good, it was very inexpensive, and even though it was a Saturday night and they were very busy the wait wasn’t long. I ordered tacos and they were delicious.

We have been there several times. The food is cheap and in large portions, but tastes ordinary. We love that they offer a complementary margarita, but it is usually very watered down. The service is fast and very friendly. We tried: burritos, quesadilla, fajitas, soupas. The burrito is huge, the quesadilla was filled with flavorless shrimp. The fajitas had carrots in it, that was not very tasty. The soupa was good and only 3 dollars. Sadly there is a lack of fresh flavors in the food.

Cheapish and good. The torta cubano costs $ 8.5, and is huge and tasty. The nachos with pork are also very good. Service is fine, although I’ve never been there when it was packed. And they have complimentary margaritas, which aren’t very good but more than worth what you pay for.

The service was horrible. Water came 20 minutes after we sat down despite asking for it twice. The margarita mix came ten minutes after that. By then we were three fourths done with our meal and parched. Of course, no water refills. Later we find out that the margarita mix was not free like it was the previous times we went. When separating checks and sorting the margarita mix issue(which we would not had gotten if we knew we needed to pay), the manager got involved and yelled our orders back to us. Would not suggest dining in. Overall a very horrible and painful dining experience. Ruined the night for my friends and I. The only reason I’m giving them two stars instead of one is because the food was pretty good.

What awful service. There were 2 women on the floor but one was dreamily setting tables the whole time despite food ready to be picked up from the kitchen. The other woman moved slowly and her priorities were all backwards. She seemed to have a difficult time figuring out how to use the computer and was at it for quite a while. Just seems poorly managed. If I were opening a new branch of my restaurant I’d put my best people in, not my worst. Food was just ok not fantastic. I’ve been a longtime fan of the other El Limons so was looking forward to trying this new location. I won’t be back.

Decided to try the new Bryn Mawr location of El Limon instead of venturing all the way to Ardmore yesterday. I got a pork carnitas sope and a chorizo taco, both of which I’ve had several times at the Ardmore location. The pork was delicious as usual, but had a pretty strong flavor of cinnamon to it, which wasn’t bad at all — just a little different than the carnitas I’ve had several times in Ardmore. They forgot to give me some lime wedges which I was a little sad about, but not that big of a deal really. I realized yesterday that apparently when you get a «supreme» taco, those toppings take the place of the onions and cilantro that come with the regular tacos. In my opinion, the supreme toppings should be in addition to the onions and cilantro — then they would be really bangin’. I really like the atmosphere/décor of the Bryn Mawr location better and the layout makes much more sense with the kitchen being in the back of the restaurant instead of off to the side. It just had a more comfortable feel to it. Will definitely be back soon!

Great casual family atmosphere. Tremendous value. All would be moot if the food wasn’t authentic & tasty. Glad to report El Limon serves some terrific Mexican flavors. As an example my last visit I ordered the Alambre for $ 12. Though it was easily enough food for 2 people, I happily cleaned my plate. Sauces(moles) are some of the best I’ve tasted. And, yes, free margarita’s.
