I’m no pizza connoisseur, but I thought the food here was fine. I enjoyed the salad and the cheese sticks as an appetizer(almost more than I enjoyed the pizza!) The pizza was a little under done, but I truly enjoyed the quaint/interesting atmosphere and the friendly staff. Mr. G has tons of personality and seemed very involved — which I truly respect. Cute place to try if you’re in Downtown Bryan.

Full disclosure: I only ever ordered food to go at lunch time, so I can’t speak to any other aspect of the restaurant besides that. I worked in the downtown Bryan area and have always had a love of pizza. Sadly the only way to get a personal sized pizza was to hit up a pizza café located inside one of the local big box retailers. Needless to say I was pretty excited to find that Mr. G’s served pizza by the slice at lunch time. These are big, greasy slices of pizza similar to a New York style. You go and order, they throw a slice in the oven to warm it up, and then you get it in a to go box. At lunch they regularly have a special where you get 2 slices(completely unnecessary for a normal sized human) and a 20 oz. soda for around $ 7 – 8. One slice was plenty for me. It was always warm, cheesy, greasy, and the crust was crunchy but not burned. The owners are a little old Italian couple and the staff is a mix of the locals. Everyone has always been nice without being overly friendly. Four stars only because I don’t feel like I have a great representation of what the restaurant has to offer, but what I do know was excellent.

BEST pizza in BCS, but with a family of 5 the price keeps us away most of the time. However, for family outings and special occasions this is our first pick. The crust is soo good, the toppings just right.

Like far too many places in BCS, Mr. G’s comports with a particular business model that other restaurants use, and which is quite successful: serve huge portions of not especially interesting food at low prices. That’s what the modal BCS diner wants, or at least used to, as tastes seem to be changing. To be fair, Mr. G’s is a great place to bring kids. Kids love pizza, and they are not fussy about how good it is. So, kids can come here, and adults can go across the street(where you can also get decent adult beverages, unlike here). Yes I have eaten the«world’s best pizza.» Actually I ate it in Naples about 2 years ago. So I have a good idea about what that phrase means. The pizza I ate here was perfectly mediocre… under cooked crust(they don’t have a wood fired oven), canned mushrooms, and sausage that resembled pet kibble. I’m not interested in cheesy bread or 5 lb calzones, I’m interested in good, real Neapolitan(or Roman) style pizza. This aint it. The place itself looks stuck in the 1970s… like you could imagine the cast of «Taxi» eating here. The best part in all honesty are the staff and Mr. G himself, who is a cool, interesting quirky guy. I like him. But sorry, I don’t like the pizza here.

Awesome for the cheap price! Skip Antonios and come here instead. Better atmosphere, better price, and cheesier and greasier pizza– exactly how it should be. 1 pizza slice here easily filled me up. Their cheesey garlic bread is also as glorious as cheesey bread comes. Will be coming here again

This isn’t your«dress up» type of place, wearing jeans is good! Service is great, friendly, attentive, fast and Mr. G is such a sweet, social man! We ordered: supreme pizza, caprese salad, 2 cappuccinos(made by Mr. G himself!), and a cannoli. My spouse is Italian, so believe me when I say these are the type of eats we have REGULARLY, and at Mr. G’s, the cannoli is extraordinarily yummy and the pizza was amazing too! Caprese salad was what you would normally get quality wise, but we thought about buying another round of cappuccinos! I can’t wait to go back on date or even with a group!

They were not even closed and decided not to serve us. I personal think that is ridiculous and won’t be coming back!

I normally don’t write bad reviews but this was a bad experience here a few hours ago. The waitress gave us our drinks but she forgot to get me my straw saying she will be back shortly with it. It took her about 15 – 20 mins to get it which I wasn’t very upset about And gave her the benefit of the doubt. But throughout our time there she seemed very rushed and only came by once or twice to see if we needed anything. When it came time for the bill my friend payed and we left. We walked across to subway and the lady CAMEOUTTHEDOORYELLINGFORUSTOCOMEBACK and waving at us in a very rude tone. My friends and I were so freaked out, we got inside subway because we were scared of her tone. Then she left the restaurant and was walking towards us. My friend(the one that payed) went outside and the waitress asked«you didn’t pay all the bill did you know that that money comes out my pocket?» My friend apologized that she accidentally counted wrong. The waitress later said«and you didn’t even tip me, was my service bad or what?» My friend was honest with her and told her yes the service was actually bad. We did give her the rest of the money. She WASCRAZY guys if she is your waitress… Run.

Well the waitress accidentally gave us the wrong order and then the owner got in an altercation with her, unwarranted in our opinion. We were the only people in the entire place(which is pretty big). So instead of acknowledging the error, he walks past us without saying a word and leaves. Oh, and the pizza wasn’t that good.

Never been here but heard a food nightmare story that would scare a fish out of water. One to many pizza joints in town to risk a spin. Give it a shot at your own peril.

Mr. G’s is an old place nestled on the Westside of the tracks in downtown Bryan, Tx. There isn’t much there in the way of restaurants and this place stands alone. If not for anything else the food alone. I’m on the late freight again with this one. While cleaning up space on my phone I ran across media I took there. It was the first time for my Wife and I eating there so I wanted to capture the moment. We arrived the evening of 11.02. 13. The night air was crisp and cold, I recall having to get my Wife her coat. The place was mostly packed with customers and some folks grabbed take home. I remember Mr. G sitting in the corner working on his desktop, doing books I assume. I noticed he had what appeared to be a lot of aggies and kids from Bryan working for him. I mean more staff than necessary to the point some looked like customers standing around. We ordered the calzone with meat which was made fresh by hand. It takes longer that way but this ain’t pizza hut. They are huge and more than enough for two people. They are were the same size as I recall them being in the 90’s. We dove in and Wow that thing was hot and fresh. The flavors just emanated through the whole calzone. We enjoyed it and would gladly go back. If you’re in town wether returning home, passing through or for an aggies game look for this place.

The food is great, and the ambiance is like home. You can expect to be visited by the owner, who greets you with a friendly charm. I had the incredible calzone. WTH was I thinking… it was huge!!! Lol Well it turns out the huge size was due to the steam which amped up the size. Once you puncture it with a knife, the calzone deflates to something us mortals can eat. And eat you shall, because the deep flavorful meats marry perfectly with the luscious mozzarella and the creamy ricotta! You will drool over the glistening juices from the pepperoni as you cut into this huge feast! This place is a definite do over!

BCS is really lacking when it comes to pizza. Every place taste the same. Boring pizza. Flavor was average. A little too light on the sauce. They also didn’t let me customize my pizza. I wanted half with toppings and half just cheese. Had to go with all cheese to keep the kids happy. The parking is also horrible.

This place is your stereotypical«Kitchen Nightmare». I was waiting for Gordon Ramsay to pass by at any moment cursing up a storm. The décor is odd, to say the least. The menu has a gray scaled head shot photo from Mr. G’s audition for the 1995 Scorsese film«Casino»(sarcasm), a large 3×3′ painting of his face, and random photos of him scattered about the restaurant. As for the food, the crust was good, the sauce and toppings were fair, and the serving of bottled soft drinks was comical. Obviously this guy is completely full of himself, which is wildly apparent after reading his bio on his website(please, go read it if you want a good laugh). The poor waitress was sweet and helpful, but Mr. G stared down the entire staff so much that they looked intimidated. I felt it was a little too expensive for the product, but the decoration and ambiance of the restaurant is what bothered me the most. At the end of our meal, we were presented with a dollar coupon off a future purchase… with you guessed it, his face on the front. My suggestions: loose the pictures of Mr. G, tidy up the place, make an office in the back instead of in the dining room, buy a filing cabinet, and buy a soda fountain.

Ok so I read reviews and saw that it has been named best pizza in town for a few years straight decided to check it out tonight and we were not disappointed. Not only did the owner take the phone order but also greeted us and invited us to have a seat while they were finishing our pizzas. When we got our pizzas and made it home they were fantastic. I was born in the Bronx and this pizza is legit, hands down, best pizza I have had in a long time.

Okay so I’ve been here about 3 times mostly on business lunches. The pizza used to be good. But lately it’s like Mr G wants salt to be a topping. We literally had half a can of salt on the pizza. And the crust was not fully done. The meat supreme was actually good. But the other 2 pizzas sucked. Mr G really needs a reality check to make some of his pizzas taste good. The man is self-obsessed and his pizza sucks. Coupon with a dollar bill with his face on it? Yuck.

Mister G has been a family friend as long as I can remember for. However, last Wensday my wife and her ex husband stopped by for some pizzas and there was some loud kids in there. Usually this wouldn’t bother me. My wife told me that her ex husband ordered the artichoke and goat cheese pizza and she ordered Margareto pizza with X-tra bazil and garlique. Both were delicious cuz I no because she brought them home from Leftover’s. The only bad part is the music was not authentic Italian music anymore. It was a new aged jazzish beat that My wife’s ex husband could not stand According to my wife.

I really wanted to like this place, but the pizza is too soggy and expensive. I’ll give it 2 stars because it’s barely edible.

I love the Mr. G’s location in downtown Bryan — it is quiet and quaint and Mr. G’s is definitely the quintessential pizza place. The pizza is amazing and the ranch is just as good(it’s made in house, after all). This is the perfect place to go when you need a break from studying or just want a good, hearty meal. The only downside is the atmosphere — not the greatest. It’s pretty standard, noting exceptional.

Good and fresh. We had the Margarita Pizza with mozzarella and tomatoes. Mr G was walking around greeting everyone and making small talk. Cool, simple atmosphere and our meal for 2 was right at $ 20 for a 14″ pizza, drinks, and a side of ranch. Great value in my mind.
