Love the place and the customer service is great too, the product is good quality and I like that they even tell you how to prepare it at home

A great find for the B/CS area! We were looking for sushi-grade fish to use at home and lucked out here. We ended up purchasing 1.5 lbs of fresh tuna, 0.5 lbs Atlantic salmon, and 1 frozen ahi tuna steak; using the coupon everything came out to $ 23! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the fish did not disappoint!

Excellent little seafood market. We love that we can come and get seafood and walk next door to the Farm Patch!

Fresh seafood! Great selection! Helpful folks behind the counter. There’s a reason folks drive from all over the Brazos Valley to get their fish, shrimp, crab, lobster, & more from Fred and Fred Seafood Market.

Bought some 30⁄32(if I remember correctly) headless shrimp here for about $ 9.25/lb, and it was amazing. The price of 30⁄32 shrimp here is similar to the price of the tiniest runts of shrimp at our local HEB/Kroger. Not only that, but it was definitely some of the freshest, juiciest shrimp that I’ve ever had. The selection here is pretty wide, many more types of fish than you would normally find, but they were out of a lot of things when I went, which is fine. They have a wall lined with recipes for each different fish. Lots of deals here, so check with them. I know for sure that they have Sal-Monday and Tuna Tuesday.

A breath of fresh air — literally! The first thing I noticed is that Fred & Fred smells like a good seafood market should; you can tell the place is very clean and there isn’t anything that they are trying to «push before it spoils». Was told to try a fresh tuna steak, and when it came out it was one of the most beautiful pieces I have seen in this area in a long, long time. Also grabbed some of the enormous gulf shrimp and some conch ceviche. For anyone who has never had ceviche outside of B/CS, GOGETSOMEFROMTHEMNOW. This is how it is supposed to taste. The overall fish selection was positively overwhelming, I’m definitely going back at least a couple of times per week so I can try everything out. The icing on the cake was when we stepped outside and saw it had started to pour, one of the guys from the shop grabbed a huge porch umbrella and offered to walk us to the car so we wouldn’t get wet!

Shopping at the Farm Patch market for produce I noticed a new fish market opened next door. Fresh King(Chinook) Salmon from Fred & Fred Seafood –this is the best salmon I’ve had from a market since I moved here from Portland OR.

After seeing Unilocal friend Jim M.(whom we almost ran into by check in’s in NYC — This guy gets around!) prepare sashimi from here we got back by as quick as possible. Used a Unilocal Check-In coupon for 15% off Sashimi grade tuna that included a free bag of Central American ground coffee. Brought home 1.5#‘s of fish not sure if we could eat it all. As it turns out we can’t stop eating it, it’s sooo good! As you can see from our photo we gave it a light sear on the outside and left it raw on the inside. With some home made marinade of EVO, soy sauce and garlic, quick grilled in butter these steaks are killer! It is so nice to have a new seafood market in Aggieland. Finally I can stop giving my money to HEB, a company I hate.(Feel free to ask why.) As long as the Fred’s are here, this will be the only place I buy seafood. I can clearly see myself here at least once or twice a week from now on. Thank you Freds! :)

Finally! A seafood market in the Brazos Valley, not to mention one that has sushi grade fresh fish. In today’s purchase it was a pound of hamachi(yellow tale) and a pound of sake(salmon). Both pieces were firm and no fish smell, cut from the body and never frozen. I also purchased live mussels for tonight’s dinner. I got the fish home, wrapped it in damp wakame(seaweed) and chilled it. After a few hours, with one of my sashimi knives I had purchased while I was in Japan, custom made, I sliced off thin pieces from each. With a little shoyu(soy sauce) and hint of wasabi, I slightly dipped each piece of hamachi and sake into the shoyu. It was amazing. I could not believe I purchased this here in BCS. Oiishi. I’ll be back. There is not a large selection of fish, but what is there looks good and no smell for each piece I asked for. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about specific fish. The prices were reasonable, considering it was sushi grade fish. I’d like to see what else they might have.

Update2: During the summer, be sure to get some of the wild, troll-caught King Salmon from the Pacific Northwest. It is as good and fresh as anything I ever ate while living in Seattle! And it cost about 40% less than what it costs at HEB! I was so happy with this experience, and my other recent experiences, that I’ve decided to revise my review and give this place 5 stars! Update1: Yesterday Fred sold me some of the freshest snapper I have every tried! Some of the best i have ever ate. Ask him what is fresh, and he’ll tell you, and you won’t be disappointed! First, let me tell you the good things about this place. There is good variety. A fish market with variety is what I missed most when I moved to BCS last year. Generally, the local grocery stores seldom carry anything other than snapper and farmed salmon. This place carries flounder, monkfish, mahi, cod, grouper, redfish, halibut, and more. They don’t always have all these species in stock, but they get them in regularly. They also carry clams and muscles regularly, in addition to live Oysters and excellent shrimp. Also, they will always have some selections that are very fresh. The prices are reasonable, at least a couple dollars per pound less than HEB. I just have one, small caveat. You have to be careful about freshness. Unfortunately, people in BCS don’t know much about seafood, and so there’s not a lot of volume in fish sales. As a result, some of Fred’s inventory doesn’t sell as fast as he’d like. That means SOME of his fish may not be very fresh. But Fred is honest, and you can ask him what is fresh, and he’ll tell you straight. Also, I’d add that the inventory turnover has improved over the last few months, so the assurance of freshness has improved, at lot. I just want to add that Fred ALWAYS has some selections that are very fresh. I’ve been buying fish from him about once a week over the last couple months, I don’t buy my fish anywhere else in town.
