Great food! We had the fried avacado and the fajitas. Out waiter mike was quick, humorous, and personable. The location is great in downtown Bryan and the food was fantastic. I will definitely be coming back!

Oddly popular place with locals, but not for me. It’s Tex-Mex-Mex like most of the places in town, but pretty much indisinguushable. Decent chips and salsa is actually pretty good. Lots of combo plates with the usual rice and refried beans, if that’s your thing. I think people come here for the margaritas a lot, which I’ve tried once and found super sweet and gross. Now breakfasts aren’t bad actuall. But the eggs often have this weird chemical flavor as if they used a really bad margarine, which I think they do. Who the hell still cooks with margarine? I guess Casa Rod does.

Another place where you hear how wonderful it is… NOT! My food was cold my order was wrong the place looked it needed to be cleaned with a high pressure water hose from floor to ceiling.

Service was really slow and the food is below average for authentic Mexican food. I ordered the veggie taco and it was okay. Side orders of potatoes were sad. Its was soaked in grease. My friend ordered the Rod’s burger and it was missing the avocados. I think the best part was just the free chips and salsa.

The service was really slow and the food was below average. I ordered the veggie taco and the taco was good with avocado and lettuce in a corn tortia but everything else were sadly not that good. The fried potatoes were covered in grease and the beans were bland. My friend ordered the fried avocado and she liked it. Overall service was slow and the food is not so great

I’ve eaten here before and I enjoyed the food a lot but I recently went a second time and did not have a good experience. We went right to the bar to get some chips and drinks. When the bartender brought out our chips and moved them over the bar mat, about 30 – 40 fruit flies swarmed over our chips. I work in beverage service and this number of fruit flies tells me that the bar mats have not been cleaned all day, probably not for a couple days. It was around 5pm. After that, my party and I did not feel comfortable and we left. I’m sure this isn’t normal circumstance for this place because I’ve heard great reviews and had a pleasant experience the first time. But this was too unsettling for me not to share.

Terrible food and terrible service. If you come here don’t expect to get a refill on your drink. It seems like the waitresses forget about you as soon as you get your food. Food was really flavorless and not worth the price.

We usually highly enjoy this place, but today, my husband and I both had the worst service and food we’ve ever had at a restaurant. It took them 20 minutes to seat us while we saw three open tables. Our waitress had half of her head shaved and stopped by our table twice, to get our order and bring it back, nothing else. She gave us stale and greasy chips, and forgot our silver ware when she did bring us food but never came back, so we had to flag someone down both times. My chimichanga was sub par and the beans were almost white, the rice was chewy. My husband ordered the el Thomas and just requested they take it back and not charge us for it — everything he ordered was cold and almost obviously old. We’ve never blatantly returned a whole dish before.

Went here for dinner on a Friday night. Wait wasn’t too bad if you get there 6. The service was okay. We asked for small plates so we could share the gauc and queso and they brought us 3 when we needed 5. Plus 2 out of 3 were dirty. It also took a while to get our server. Apparently there was miscommunication and she didn’t know we were out table. Service aside, the food was excellent! The gauc was very good. I had the mango tilapia and couldn’t finish it. Everyone said there food was great as well. If you’re willing to deal with minor service issues, but great food then I recommend Casa Rod’s! They also had live music!

Really disappointed with the service today. Took several minutes just to be acknowledged when we went in and waited for for someone to seat us. Next we waited about 10 minutes before chips and salsa were brought to our table, and then our drink order wasn’t taken. Several minutes later a waitress took our drink order(after having to ask if we had already ordered). About 10 more minutes passed and our order was finally taken(same waitress asked if anyone had taken our order). 20 minutes later we had to ask about our order and it finally came out. Both of our orders were wrong when they finally came out, but we kept what was brought because we were tired of waiting. Finished lunch, and waited and waited and waited for the check… Never came so we went to the register. Tried to explain the messed up order and asked if we were being charged for what we ordered or for what we got… Lady at the desk had to go get someone else at that point even though the waitress that too our order was standing right there. A lady we’d never seen came out and told us it was her table and the other lady just took our order(???) and that’s where it got messed up. I ask her what she was going to charge us for and she just had this puzzled look on her face. I was tired of waiting and just told her to run my card. Paid a helluva lot more than I was expecting, but in the bigger picture it was a relatively cheap way to learn that Casa Rod’s service has went to pot and the restaurant is no longer worth going to. Thanks for nothing Casa Rod!

Sad to report this place has gone downhill. Casa Rod used to be our weekly Mexican food destination, but now we cringe when a friend suggests it. Admittedly, our most recent visit was on Ring Day… which also happened to be the same night Bryan debuted their Christmas lights. So we expected a long wait. Got there around 6:15 and were quoted an hour for a table of 8. We decided to wait it out, knowing every restaurant in town would be slammed. Well, almost 2 hours later, we were finally seated. Wish they had just been up front about it, as one of our friends is 7 months pregnant and was on her feet the entire time. I will point out that the service was top notch. Chips and salsa came out immediately and were kept full the entire night. Our waitress checked on us frequently and didn’t seem flustered at all despite the thick crowds and deafening volume in the restaurant. I wish I could say the wait was worth it. The food just wasn’t good. I had the ½ order of the el mobley with chicken. The portion was pathetic. It was served on the same size plate you would put a side of rice or beans on with fajitas. The chicken was bland and really tough. 2 small pieces of avocado. My husband got a combination of chicken and beef fajitas and could hardly eat them. They were soggy, as if they had been fried and sat out for a while. The plate was also swimming in grease. I’m afraid we have caught them on one off night too many.

Take the good and bad reviews with a grain of salt and a shot of tequila. This is a good home-style Mexican food place. Is it going to be the best you’ve ever had? Probably not, but you’ll leave full and satisfied. I find it funny when people get all pissed in the reviews. It’s not like they paid more than $ 30 for a dinner for two. Sometimes I wonder if those people somehow deluded themselves in to believing that there isn’t a difference between high dollar places and less expensive ones. For being what it is, it’s really, really good. This is the only place we go for excellent mexican in Bryan. It’s tasty and inexpensive. They have a good variety and all of their options are very well done. I think I’ve had everything on their menu. Best place I’ve ever been for breakfast tacos. That includes places all over Austin. Get the bacon, it’s always crisp. Underline that. IT’S ALWAYSCRISP. Soggy bacon is so gross and has become standard at other places, but not this one. The only thing I wish this place had was the salsa that Gina’s was so famous for. Casa Rods is good but Gina’s has a special place in my heart.

I’ve given this place a few tries and have always been underwhelmed but a couple of weeks ago I took my friends who were visiting from out of town here because we were in downtown Bryan and wanted Mexican. I ordered the shrimp stuffed avocado, something I have ordered before, and it came out undercooked. The avocado was not all that ripe, the cheese wasn’t really melted, and the shrimp was rubbery. I’ve also realized why the food here has always taste bland to me: there’s no cumin! I want my tex mex full of cumin flavor, thank you. I won’t ever be coming back here. If y’all are ever in the mood for Mexican in Downtown Bryan, try Papa Perez or El Tio.

I went here for the first time on 9÷7÷15, Labor Day weekend. It was a Sunday and my group arrived there around 6:30. We were seated immediately and given chips and salsa within the first two minutes we sat down, but no waiter came to our table to take our drink order. We ended having to grab a hostess to take our drink order. Two of the people ordered sweet tea and they both received unsweet. Also, we had to track a server around so we could get refills on our drinks. We finally get to order our food at 6:55, but didn’t receive it until 7:30. Here is each review of each meal that was served: Three cheese enchiladas: when I received my plate the enchiladas were not hot, but slightly warm. It was only ok and I didn’t think it was worth the wait. Iron Mike meal: my friend had three chicken enchiladas with the fried eggs on top. His enchiladas were warm like mine, but he actually found a chicken bone inside his enchiladas. Steak quesadilla: my friend said that she could get this meal faster and about the same quality as Taco Bell. Fajitas for one: my friend’s fajitas came out the hottest and freshest from the kitchen compared to all of our meals. He really enjoyed them and had no complaints. Overall, I think that the restaurant was decent, but very understaffed for the amount of customers they had. I’d be willing to try this place again since it is so highly recommended.

This is what I opened up after ordering the Half Mobley. The portion size here keeps shrinking while the prices keep going up. This plate(not even a full plate) cost $ 9.74 ! Granted it came with chips. And salsa but you could have gotten double the amount of food for the same price at Taco Cabana. This place is riding the wave of their past success. The food is mediocre and the prices are too high given the portion sizes. OVERRATED !!!

Went for lunch and had the enchilada special. Made just like I had ordered! Service was friendly and quick… the beef and cheese in my enchiladas were cold. Not even room temperature. I didn’t complain and just ate them cold. Bummer! Loved the chips, salsa, and queso.

Service is slow, food is even slower. The food is mediocre, most of our orders actually came out cold. The waitress got my order wrong twice, ordered chicken and gave me beef. Ordered a side order of something, and they gave me the combo for it. Won’t be coming here again.

Came here on the recommendation at the B&B where we were staying, and overall was not impressed. Good: Nachos were piled high with good stuff(not just a pile of tortilla chips with some stuff on top) Gave me fresh jalapenos instead of pickled. Meh: Margaritas Salsa The actual taste of the nachos Price Bad: Ranchero sauce was basically tomato sauce Flavorless enchiladas I don’t really recommend it.
