I had a massage for Mother’s Day on Saturday… The worst massage. I’ve had many massages and like deep pressure but this was a whole new level. I asked for her to lighten up and she did, a little. I should have left the first of many times the thought entered my mind. My mom had a similar experience with different masseuse at the same time. We will not return and I do not recommend this establishment. This is my first Unilocal or social media review ever; the experience was that horrendous I needed to post. I gave one star because I was forced to leave a star

Terrible. My eyebrows burned, now I hate a burn mark until it goes away. Then she applied something on them and it stinged pretty bad. I said that it stinged and she was like«oh really? It never has» yeah well it did! Her name was also Ashley. Anyways don’t get fooled by the environment. You will get burnt skin.

I had my hair cut here yesterday by Brandi and could not be happier with the outcome. She took her time to talk to me about what my wants were and what she recommended. I swim a lot to needed an easy to manage cut & that was exactly what i got. i will be going back to get some highlights placed in in August so will report back on the color after getting it done. The salon itself is very tidy and private. other staff were very friendly and accommodating also. Only complaint was they don’t take American express

I was excited to visit this spa based on a resounding positive review written here, but unfortunately, I left supremely disappointed. My ex-girlfriend bought a couples massage for my birthday in April. Upon arrival, I observed the ambiance to be quaint, charming, and quiet which I appreciated. However, things quickly went south. The first masseuse, who was also given the task of prepping us, was all over the place mentally. It was as if neither she nor the spa were prepared for us. Prior to the massage, we were led in to the private jacuzzi. We couldn’t really understand this lady’s instructions but tried our best to relax and have a good time. There was shampoo and lotion in the bathroom for us to use but no soap. There were no bubbles and nothing romantic about the décor in our private experience. Fake rose pedals would have gone a long way. My own tub has provided a more intimate experience. There was tap water available in cups along with some chocolate straws. Unfortunately, the box of chocolate straws wasn’t open yet so with my dirty, wet hands(no soap) I had to try and rip the plastic wrapper to grab and enjoy a chocolate. The lady also mentioned that there would be a warm towel available for us and to please be careful since it may be extremely hot. When I reached for it, I noticed that the heater must’ve been broken or not connected since the towel was the same temperature as the rest. The robes, slippers, and towels we were to utilize were all very old. Next, we moved to the massage. My masseuse was actually quite good, and I actually felt better afterwards. However, my ex’s(which was the same lady aforementioned), kept talking. At one point, I almost had to say something to her. The massage tables were old and outdated. Finally, and what was probably the best part of the experience, my masseuse gave us a bag of goodies to take home. She was a sweet lady and really on top of things. The bag contained our choice of alcoholic beverage and some snacks. As it turns out, the place was very old and noisy especially when people walked through. It has a ton of potential, but unequivocally needs some serious renovations. I definitely missed Elements. Had it not been for the great company, who was also a good sport, this would’ve been a «1» rating.

I couldn’t speak any more highly of Stacy Utz(my stylist of 5 years) and Boardwalk Salon. The attached spa is great as well. Credit cards and checks must be written for the exact amount of the service, so bring cash to tip!

Worst haircut I’ve ever received. SO choppy and blunt. She obviously didn’t know how to layer hair correctly. Never going back.

Wow! Can’t say enough good things about my experiences with Boardwalk Spa. Note I used the plural form because I have been back for over a year now. Unfortunately I just moved out of College Station and on the hunt for a new place to go for Brazilian waxes. That being said, Leslie is the absolute hands-down best in the business. She goes above and beyond to make you feel relaxed and unaware of awkwardness that comes with getting waxed in your nether regions. If I could I would make the 3 hour trip just to have her do it! She is very attentive to exactly what you want. She also is very encouraging when it comes to being unsure of the whole experience. I always looked forward to our little chats during the 45 minutes or so. Beware though, she is a perfectionist and will give you your money’s worth! haha not a bad thing at all just sometimes those tweezers can be a bit pesky. But I promise you will walk out without pain and full of confidence. Well worth the $ 50 or so for a full Brazilian!

Really cute place but got a pedicure there and honestly I do a much better job painting my own nails than the lady did. she was extremely nice but my nails were all uneven an you can clearly see the polish on my skin and the thickness of layers she did just trying to fix her mistakes of the polish. i wouldn’t come back for a pedicure but maybe for a massage.

Wonderful, time efficient with no mess. I am very happy with my wax job. Leslie was extremely nice and professional. I will most definitely be a reoccurring patron of hers and this salon.

All time fave in the Brazos valley. Leslie Rivers is the wax queen, and can de-hair you better than anyone in a high end city salon. Massages are to die for. Love love love!

I made an appointment for a simple and quick procedure… and then waited an hour and 15 minutes to be taken. This is highly unprofessional. I’m not exactly sure what the hold up was, as I was the only person waiting and there were several employees milling about. I had to ask the receptionist three times what was going on with my appointment until they took steps to figure it out. Eventually, the manager apologized, offered a gift certificate, and seemed embarrassed by how it was handled up front. Still, I will not be going back. The services I eventually received were only okay, and definitely not worth what they charge.

I had tried a few other spa locations in the BCS area, but this one is the best by far. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable and the atmosphere is super relaxing. They also pride themselves on being sanitary which is a big deal when you’re looking into spa services.

I absolutely love coming to Boardwalk Spa & Nail Salon. Their waxing service is the best in town. When I go, I always ask for Petra because she is amazing. The first time I saw her, I told her about my previous experiences with bikini waxes, and she made sure that she used a special wax formula containing honey for my sensitive skin. The atmosphere is relaxing, and I refuse to go to any other place in College Station. Edit July 2011: On my last visit to Boardwalk Spa & Nail Salon, Petra had to go home sick. They put me with another lady, and she did a horrible job! After my bikini wax, I had to shave before going swimming to finish what she missed, which was A LOT! Kind of defeats the point of getting a bikini wax. My recommendation is only book with Petra. I don’t remember the other lady’s name, but I am going to try to never book with her again! Edit May 2012: The lady I mentioned in my previous edit no longer works at Boardwalk, so do not worry about getting her. However, Petra is still the best. On my last appointment, they booked me with Ashley, and she did a pretty good job on the areas she had easy access to, but her chair was shaped and bent weirdly, so when I got home, I saw that she did not go as far in as I would have liked. I even had to shave a bit before going swimming, which irked me, but I am going to blame this on her chair and not her workmanship. However, you would think she would have noticed the chair is getting in her way.

I went to Boardwalk for an eyebrow wax. The woman that took my appointment was nice, and when I called from the car telling them I would be a few minutes late they made sure I knew where I was going and supplemented their previous directions with very detailed and helpful instructions. Regardless, I still went to the wrong door(there are two — the hair salon, and the waxing den). *Note, it’s not really called the waxing den, but wouldn’t that be great if it was? Anyway, my brow wax was great. I have sensitive skin and my post-wax redness was minimal and the brow shape was fantastic. My only issue is the relish with which my waxer removed the strip. I’ve had my brows done many times, and it has never really hurt before. She seemed to really love her job and pulled off each strip with a flourish. I’m not sure if this exuberant technique was responsible for the lack of redness, but it hurt. Overall, I think it is worth it, and I’m planning on going back.

I’ve been here several times to get my hair cut, and each time I leave feeling satisfied, but not overwhelmed with how awesome my hair looks. The main issue is that I am really lazy when it comes to doing my hair(washing, conditioning, and brushing are not issues for me, it’s the styling that presents problems) and I wanted a haircut that would basically just allow me to wash and go(it is possible that this does not exist outside of shaving your head, but it would be nice for my stylist to tell me that). Anyway, I explained this to my stylist every time, but I always ended up with something that require me to blow dry and turn a brush at the same time, which is a skill I lack(I know this is an easy thing to do, but like I said, I’m lazy), so I usually just ended up putting it up in a ponytail, which is a waste of $ 50($ 40 for the haircut and wash and $ 10 for the tip). Don’t get me wrong, my haircuts were nice, if all incredibly similar when I was trying for new things, but they required more than I had told my stylist I wanted to put into them. Anyway, eventually I shaved my head, so now the only haircut problem I’ve had is dealing with looking like a member of the Backstreet Boys in 1997(thankfully only for a short while). All in all, this is one of the better bets for a good looking haircut in College Station, but if you have the time and money, I’d go to Houston or Austin to get it done.
