Have to give one star. Food was horrible. I had fried oysters and blackened grouper. The oysters were nothing but batter. Had to send them back. I never send anything back. I worked in food and beverage. I swear the grouper wasn’t grouper. Looked and tasted just like tilapia. Just move on. I will say that my service was good. This was entirely the food. Your paying for a view and that’s not worth those prices. Very disappointed. I hear there’s a place across the street that blows this place right out the water.

This is my favorite place to eat seafood, unless you want to spend 3 times as much at some fancy seafood restaurant in Atlanta. It’s nothing fancy, but great, fresh seafood at a fish camp with alligators swimming by almost every time we are there. I saw a complaint about the salads and all I can say is go somewhere that doesn’t have the words MUD or CAT in the name if you want to eat like a rabbit! The scenery is awesome and the seafood and onion rings are as good as it gets. We eat here every time we are in the area.

Good hole in the wall. Had a shrimp po boy and was good. They have the best homeade fries I’ve ever had. Hard to find that.

I wanted to say that this place is not good but my husband made me change it to just alright. The crab stew and broiled scallops weren’t bad but the French fries were gross and my salad was just a lot of iceburg lettuce and two slices of cucumber and tomato. The mahi mahi on top was grilled well though. They served everything on plastic plates. Even our stew came in a plastic bowl with a plastic spoon. If the prices were much much lower and if the food was served on real dishes I might have rated it higher. But it is just not worth it. Skip this place!

So yummy! I went to the plantation nearby for a tour and wanted to eat something afterwards with my friends. We decided we wanted seafood and found this adorable place on the water. We ordered fish sandwiches and they were so flavorful! They used hoagie buns which are my favorite and served them with tartar sauce. The fries were breaded and crispy. We were all very happy with our orders and service at this restaurant. We compared it to somewhere you’d go to in key west(were from Miami). It’s a shame we don’t live closer becAuse we agree that we’d all love to come back!

Authentic fish camp atmosphere. Staff were very welcoming even when we arrived 30 min before closing on a Sunday night. Homemade hush puppies were very good. Kathy and Anna were able to split a fish filet dish and have each filet prepared a different way. I had the shrimp po-boy and the shrimp were very fresh. Definitely worth finding if you are on I-95 in Southern Georgia.

A great little hideout near Brunswick. We all enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. The onion rings were especially good!

Pretty good food for the most part. The scallops and shrimp were a little over cooked; however the seasoning was good.

Cool place in a fish camp in the middle of nowhere. It was not really all that far off of the Interstate, like maybe three miles, but it seems like a long time because you are going out in the middle on nowhere. I mean, when we turned into the fish camp, and saw all of the cabins I thought I was in the wrong location. We were told it was a 45 minute wait, but it was not that long. There is a cool dock you can walk down, and we actually saw two alligators swimming … awesome! Service was slow, I mean like two hours kind of slow. But the food was really good. I had the fried oysters and they were excellent. I had the scallops fried also, but should have ordered them blackened instead. The Onion Rings are home made and were really good as were the sauces. All in all, it was a great meal for a long road trip. The traffic on the Interstate was horrible and so we were ready for a reprieve anyway. If you are not in a hurry, and are willing to wait, this place is worth the time.

This is one of my Grandparents(who live just down the way) favorite places in the world but I have to(respectfully) disagree with them on that one. In all my years of living and working in the area, I just don’t get the appeal of this restaurant outside of the prime marsh view location. Stopped by once recently with my Dad to grab a bite before we took the boat to Sapelo. After 20 minutes of sitting in a stuffy, dirty room in the back with no one stopping by to say anything we got up and walked out. I haven’t had to do something like that in YEARS and YEARS. Hostess was snarky as we walked by her and informed of her of our leaving. She was talking to the other employees in an almost empty restaurant so I guess that explains where everyone was since they weren’t trying to help us out at all. I made a vow then to never return. Alas, 3 months later it was Dad’s birthday and he really, really, really wanted fried seafood so we gave Mudcat’s another shot. Bad idea. Look, I get that due to EPA restrictions they have to serve on plastic/styrofoam but dang it, can there be some measure of trying to recycle? What a freaking waste of so much stuff — literally! The bottled beer was not cold. The food was. I still shudder thinking about those godawful crab legs that even my Dad, with his stomach of steel, couldn’t eat. Everything was greasy, chewy and just plain ol’ downright bad. Even my tiny baked potato was bad. If the seafood is local, and I’ve been told it is, then this is a true travesty. Nothing was freshly made. Again, what a waste of time, $, seafood and plastic. If I have to go again(which I would to make my Dad and/or Grandparents happy) then I’ll just stick with some sweet tea and maybe watch the sunset off the back dock.

I know grouper. The fish served to me tonight was definitely not blackened grouper — it looked and tasted like over seasoned tilapia. So disappointed. My companions ordered fried shrimp which was served lukewarm and soggy.

We happened on to Mudcat Charlie’s while staying in Darien, GA in March. The parking lot was full so we decided to eat dinner there. A good decision. Excellent local seafood – shrimp, scallops, and oysters. Very good sweet potato fries. We recommend the effort to go there even though it is off the beaten path. It is located in a fish camp.

Based on other Unilocal reviews we stopped on our way back from Savannah. We both had seafood Duo one fried, one blackened. Excellent flavor, everything was fresh. service great for an unexpected busy Sunday night! Will definitely stop on our next trip.

I can’t vouch for anything else on the menu, but this is the best shrimp on earth. No exaggeration. It’s so good that last time we were visiting St. Simon’s, we went there twice and ordered the same thing.

Food is mediocre. You can dock your boat and eat. Pretty much the only great thing about it. Bathroom smells weird. I’ve came here 4 times, always the same distinct smell. Menu is decent. Good variety, atmosphere is relaxing and quiet. If for whatever reason you’re in Brunswick, on a boat, without food, then stop here.

Everything was excellent! Brunswick stew was amazing. Crab stew and shrimp po boy were fantastic, great spot overlooking the river. Reasonably priced too! Glad we stopped here on our way from Florida to South Carolina!

Stuffed grouper was delicious. I didn’t like the«salad from a bag.» Nor the plastic dishes and cups. But the entrée was pretty good. Water tasted like boiled eggs. I was here years ago, pre-plastic wear, and it was the schizzle. Now it’s just OK.

Ok place for lunch and sandwiches but I would leave it at that. Plastic cups and plates belittles this place. It feels very cheap. The hush puppies were a little too greasy for me but the blacken grouper that was in my sandwich was perfectly cooked. The service was just ok at best.

Good, fresh seafood with reasonable prices. The sandwhiches are all under 10 and have good portions. I’ll definitely come back here when I’m in the area. The light, not-very-greasy batter they use on the fried shrimp is excellent.
