If there was a way of giving a ZERO star I would give it. Their fried oysters were disgusting! They were fried in the OLDEST oil that the taste made me want to VOMIT. actually 4 hours after eating one of these rancid oysters, I still wanted to stick my finger down my throat to up chuck this horrid taste!!! Stay clear of this restaurant. Value your calorie intake as well as your wallet.

So glad this place is still open. One of my family’s favorite restaurants. Many celebrations were shared here. They love the fried shrimp and oyster plate

Mediocre at best. We ordered a dozen oysters and the waitress looked like a deer in headlights when we asked where the oysters were harvested. Eventually she was able to mumble that they were«from the Gulf» which was less than assuring. The oysters were actually fairly decent, but they were served with no horseradish. Instead they came with pickle slices… ummmm??? Most of us got variety plates, and that equaled seafood battered and fried almost beyond recognition. Prices did not reflect quality. No one died of food poisoning, but that’s about the most positive thing I can say.

My family visited the Oyster Bar just about every week for over 30 years. It is one of the few places you can trust to eat Oysters on the half shell. Quality seafood done simply and very well in my opinion day in and day out.

My family and I have been coming to the Oyster Bar for over 10+ years. Our favorite has to be the Brownsville location. We usually come when visiting relatives in the Valley. The latest we came was this past Spring Break. The servers were able to seat us right away for a party of seven. Our favorite dish has to be the order of fried shrimp. There’s two choices– half order, which comes with 6 shrimp, or the full order, which comes with 12 pieces of shrimp. The sides come with fries or baked potato, salad with choice of dressing, and cocktail sauce, and drink choice. The food is very delicious to say the least! Service is good, our waitress came multiple times to check on us, gave us refills on drinks, extra tartar sauce, as well as refilling the rolls basket. We never leave disappointed. It does get crowded during dinner time and the weekends, do try to get there early. By far best seafood restaurant in town.

I ordered a combination platter that included a 3 shrimp cocktail, 3 oysters on the half shell, fried shrimp and fried oysters. The shrimp cocktail came served with ketchup as the dipping sauce and the shrimp were small, not tiny but small. This place must have never heard of horseradish, I am used to getting some when oysters on the half shell are served. I substituted tabasco to give them a little kic, they were okay but definetly not the best I have had. The fried oysters were good in taste and size, while the fried shrimp was just average. Overall it was a disappointing dinner. The decore has a lot to be desired as well. It dates the establishment and is need of an update. When I visited the parking lot was empty as was the restaurant, it was a Monday at dinner time. I was hoping for better given that the Gulf is a very short distance away.

This is a family-oriented restaurant, with family oriented food. Not real interesting, not bad, nothing to write home about. Just decent food at decent prices. The service was good, but not exemplary. Overall I’d say it was good for a Sunday dinner for the family, especially those with less-than-discriminating tastes.

No reviews? This is my review of a 15 minute visit by myself :0 Took a bit of a risk with the late season this year and got a dozen fresh shucked oysters. Photo uploaded. No bar seating, booths and tables. $ 8.95 for dozen on half. Forgot to give me oyster fork, late season blunder?
