Very nice, cute little library. Movie selection is alright. Everything is all on one floor which makes things convenient. They have a section of computers for your use and they also have a little quiet area where total silence is required. It only gets 3 stars bc, while it is a nice library overall, it’s nothing compared to the library I had back home. But then again, that was for a much bigger town servicing much more people. I’ll have to venture out to the other area libraries to see if any of them compare.

This library is a pretty well managed. after 4:00 school kids come in to study or do research. I usually come in and read a few magazines or check the newspapers. Call me old school or anti TV. I don’t even have cable TV in my home but I do get the reference look it up on YouTube. It’s easy in and easy out all one level. And like little red riding hood. its not too small and not too big like some city libraries. To me its just right.

Brown Deer Library hosted an event for me last night.(I gave a presentation and held a signing for my book«The Simpsons in the Classroom»). The library has a nice community room for events, including a projector that I was able to hook my laptop up to show clips. The librarian I’d been working with, Kelley, came in on her night off to be there for my event, even though she could have had me just set up on my own. But when I got there, she had already set up the room with a podium, the projector, and chairs arranged in a friendly manner. I was pleased with the preparation the library put into promoting my event: they sent emails to local teachers(my book is a pedagogical book) and they had flyers up to promote my event. This is a very friendly library, bright and clean and not the stuffy, dark type of library that makes people dread going there. It’s small, but because it is part of the larger Milwaukee county system, there are an amazing amount of books available thru Brown Deer Library. If I lived closer to Brown Deer, I think I’d actually hang out there!
