Keith Delamarter, the owner of Metro Denver Piano Tuning, has been my steady piano tuner for more than two years, and he’s an impressive craftsman who gives my piano a rebirth every time he touches it. He’s been tuning pianos for more than 30 years, and it shows. I can’t believe how much richer and fuller the piano sounds after every tuning. Keith is extremely friendly, easy to book and shows up on time every time. He not only does the tuning of my Essex grand piano but also takes extra time to clean the piano, including removing dust from the interior, and takes care of many details such as voicing each note to make it sound either more mellow or more lively. Next year will be Keith’s 30th anniversary of tuning pianos in the Denver area. He current works out of Schmitt Music in Englewood. He’s undergone factory training for Yamaha and Steinway pianos, but can tune anything. And I mean anything — he recently told me the story of being called to tune a player piano that had not been touched by a tuner since the 1950s. A couple of hours later, Keith had the piano up to concert pitch and the owner singing his praises.
