Broomfield Community Center

You gotta go at the right time, either early or late cause the place gets crowded. Outside of that, this place is awesome. The water slides are perfect for kids of all ages … even adults that act like kids aka, myself!

This building is the older center that the Paul Derda Recreation Center. It is located by The Bay. My son, who is 6, took a pottery class that is on Friday afternoons. We homeschool. Nothing in the class description said no homeschoolers. There were no prerequisites. The teacher made snarky comments like «is there something wrong with him?» I said «No». She asked if he went to public school and I told her we homeschooled. She then said «That explains it. I knew something was different in the first 15 minutes.» She then said she was surprised he was ‘allowed’ in the class. Obvious by her comments she doesn’t understand a thing about homeschooling and is not supportive of homeschooled families. Her comments were inappropriate. My son is very smart. He asked to take this class because he was interested in clay and the wheel. It is very annoying to me that the city would hire a teacher who is so closed minded. I also dislike how she immediately wants to label him with a problem because he is his own person. I strongly do not recommend taking a class from this location! This business is not homeschool friendly!
