A great location for a leadership retreat. The grounds are well kept and there is ample meeting space. The staff really takes great pride in the space and is there to assist with anything a visiting group needs. I would recommend if looking for an affordable location with good amenities. I visited during the winter so it was a bit chilly, but thats to be expected! Thank you for a great stay. Notes for the reason of 4 stars: The food is typical camp food, but not the highest quality that I have had in comparable locations. Some of the bedding we received had«questionable» stains.

Camp Tecumseh YMCA is probably the most creative, loving, and Christ centered YMCA I have ever had the chance to visit. After working with another Y camp, I can say that the folks at Camp T are way above the bar. I’ve seen great things with their Outdoor Education Department, Retreats Department, their Leadership Center and their Summer Camp. Many of my friends in the area went there as a kid and loved it. Around town, when I wear my Camp T Sweatshirt random strangers always come up to me and tell me their stories, always good. Many of them experienced life-long friends there for the first time in their life, some of them met God there for the first time, but all of them count it as one of the bright points in their childhood. I know several of the staff there on a first name basis and can honestly say that I could trust them with my children.

I’ve been coming to Camp Tecumseh since 2005 as part of an annual meeting for a professional organization. Every year I look forward to my few days in Brookston and at Camp T. The staff is easy to work with on logistics, providing detailed information and options to the event planners. Kyle in particular is hilarious and sincere — our group adores him and the attentiveness he demonstrates regularly. The campground itself is beautiful, even in early February when we’re there. Ask for a tour — any staff member will be happy to show you around. Accommodations are typical YMCA camp cabins with bunk beds and communal bathrooms. They’re comfortable and serve their purpose. The food is fantastic. Our group regularly talks about the magical baked oatmeal, which we’ve been given the recipe to after so many years of patronage. If you’re looking to host a retreat for a group of any size, I recommend Camp Tecumseh. It’s off the beaten path, but isn’t that what you need in a retreat site?
