Woodhull Hospital

Horrible horrible place. Do not go to this hospital. The doctors, nurses and staff in general are neglectful and rude. Most just want to hurry up and get rid of you quickly and get their shift over with. They really don’t care much about you. They just think about themselves more than their patients. I have so many bad stories about my experience at this hospital that if I start writing about them I won’t finish. it is very few the people who are worth it at this hospital. Oh and don’t come to this place unless you want to be there the whole day waiting to see your doctor if you have an appointment and listening to people complain about the service all day.

Dr Toma is a joke. My daughter went to Dr. Toma after being discharged from the psych ward and was referred to out — patient clinic. She ask for depression medication and Dr, Toma denied my daughter the medication. My daughter became severely depressed after that. I didn’t find out to later on that Dr. Toma denied her the medication. When I spoke with Dr. Toma she said she didn’t think my daughter needed any anti-​depression medication becsuse she speaks very well. What the hell do that have to do with anything.

I wouldn’t send a Damn frog there. I went to the dental clinic to have my wisdom tooth extracted. I cursed somebody out who I guess was on his damn period. I sat in a chair and had my wisdom tooth pulled and tugged, gums cut by two dentist for 15minutes; finally a REAL damn dentist came in was able to get the tooth out. The best thing about this hospital was patient relations… That is a disgusting, dirty, unprofessional place they need to shut that shit down… immediately…like right now!

I’m not sure why Unilocal says this place is closed. It is still up and running, though for the sake of anyone in need of medical care, it shouldn’t be. I went to the ER here a few weeks ago for an extremely painful infection. I was there for 6.5 hours, and was not given so much as a cup of water, let alone any treatment. The only attention I received was after pleading for it multiple times from staff who made it clear they had no concern for my pain. Finally they gave me an over-​the-​counter dose of Motrin. The doctor on duty was literally falling asleep — I saw her nod off multiple times while at the computer, as well as even while speaking to me! Yes, her eyes were fluttering shut while speaking to me. After taking 6.5 hours to write me a prescription I was finally on my way, with an infection that was 6.5 hours worse than when I walked in.

I am just glad I made it out of here alive. Do not talk to their social workers. Do not go here if there is another option.

I wish I could give no star its sad beyond words… the doctors may have full potential but staff is so bad… some nurses are disgusting and ghetto I hope I never get into a situation where I have to come to woodhull I rather be left on the streets

I’d give them four stars because they fed me well and let me take home pajama scrubs that said Woodhull on them and change for the phone. I take away half of the stars because there was an abundance of urine all over the bathroom floors that soaked through the bottom of my pajama scrubs and a man named Moses was masturbating under his pajamas to «Hawaii-​Five-​O». That pretty much sums it up.

The psychiatrist ended up being just as terrible as the therapist I saw. Her name is Mirela Toma. She was either pretending the whole time or she was influenced by the bad things Soshana McKenzie must’ve said about me. I wrote a letter stating my side of what happened and even if they don’t help me, at least, it will be scanned in their system. No more psychiatry and therapy for me. It’s not worth it. If you don’t want to have more problems than you (may) already have, don’t come here. Therapy here is not a safe, healing experience. I feel the same way about the doctor I saw. Go elsewhere for your own good.

I have NEVER been treated so poorly in my life. A family member was brought to the ER and I called multiple time (and many people hung up on me) to ask if I could visit and speak to doctor since we are all out of state and I was told to «call back tomorrow because it was after 8pm» what kind of hospital is this?! I work in a ICU in a large academic medical center and we would NEVER treat family members like that. DO NOT GO TO
THIS HOSPITAL. People are RUDE!!!

Sitting in the emergency room, the snails that work here are moving at (well a snail’s pace.) To me it seems like there is no sense of urgency. It is the slowest emergency room that I have been forced to sit through. While I did not use the bathroom. I watched two housekeepers talk about just about everything, but did not see them push a mop or the broom. I am sitting here and there is no movement what so ever. I am about to leave. If I am going to die I’d rather die at home. This is one of the worst hospital’s ever. 2 thumbs and a nose down.

Worst pediatrics ever. Do not take your infant to this ER. Take them anywhere else. I will never bring my baby to this hospital again and I am taking him to a specialist to see if they damaged anything if they did I am going after this place.

I was misdiagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy. I told them I wanted to go home and decide what I wanted, the doctor was pushy. She recommended I get the shot of methotrexate and says «If I was your sister, I would tell you to get the shot». My husband and I decided to do it. The shot made me sick for a week, I had to come up every 3^rd and 5^th day to manage it. The 5^th day, they do another hormone check, I was told my levels were rising but this happens sometimes. They recommended another shot. I take it. A few days later, I go into the emergency room with the most uncaring medical «professionals». And sat there in a lot of pain. No one spoke to me for 7 hours, I got so pissed I threatened them «I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy. If my fallopian tubes burst, I will sue you for negligence.» That got the ball rolling. I met with an OB/​GYN who does a transvaginal ultra sound. «This pregnancy isn’t ectopic.» Really? «Yeah, it’s right here.» Wait a minute, I have been getting shots of methotrexate. «Well I’m not a technician and only they can tell you for sure.»… I was so angry. I was in so much pain because I was miscarrying. I went home, and not to get graphic: I passed the embryo, which was surprisingly large. That was in November, I couldn’t even fathom going to another physician, I was so angry and i felt like I couldn’t trust them. Today is my first time seeing a physician and hopefully there is no infection or permanent damage.

Ive came to this hospital numerous times. I do admit the wait for the E. R is incredibly slow, especially when you feel like you are dying. But when you are admitted you get treated so great and the doctors and nurses are nothing but helpful. I gave birth here and my son has been here recently and had to stay for health reason and it was fantastic. Yes some nurses are a holes but thats anywhere you go. I would recommend this hospital. Everyones experience is different, especially with the type of attitude you come in with.

Terrible. Do not go here. If you’re from Brooklyn, it is worth the ride into Manhattan.
They made me wait 2 hours in the worst pain of my life before they gave me anything. I was crying and moving around, and they just looked at me and kept going. Almost 15 nurses were talking to each other, not doing anything.
Then when they finally gave me meds and an X-​ray, they wouldn’t be more unprofessional. They didn’t let me see me results. The physician’s assistant told me I had many kidney stones, when I asked how much was «many» he said «oh idk he just said many, many could mean 20 or 30». What?! Then refused to prescribe anything for the pain.
Also took them another hour to discharge me after giving me my prescriptions and telling me I was good to go. Terrible, terrible experience.

woodhull is the worst hospital on the face of this earth! how do i show up for a pelvic ultrasound at 1:49pm and was told to drink 10 cups of water and don’t be seen until 4pm??? the radiology department had me there for 2 full hours with a full bladder and the dumbass in the picture says, i don’t know what you should do since they may call you any minute! and she didn’t want to give me her name!!! this inhumane treatment makes me sooo f’n upset! avoid this hell hole at all costs!

My son told me he had some metal splinter in his hand and wouldn’t let me see it so I could try to extract it myself as I had always done in the past. He asked me to take him to the hospital, I dropped him off and when he came back, he told me he needed surgery to extract the pellet, he confessed that he had shot himself in the hand with his bb gun by accident thinking that it was empty. I was quite peaceful about him being treated in this hospital, they were going to put him to sleep for the surgery. I had someone else in the family who had a very serious condition, got 5 surgeries in this hospital in a short period of time, and while everyone thought he was gonna die for sure, he didn’t die, he made it and is still here very much alive. Back to my son, the surgery was fine and he is all fine.
In my view, this hospital have become really good at treating patients and providing great medical service in many different areas.
As for the bbgun, it’s one of those things that parents shouldn’t allow their offsprings to have. I even know another family who had a worst accident with a bb gun, and yet, as much as I argued with my son about this, it was an experience for him to have. There was no way I could had stopped him from getting this type of toy. Guess what, after the accident, I asked him for the gun and now he did gave it up. Sometimes, you see a loved one walking towards a shithole and refuse to hear your advise, then you just gotta wait by the side of the road and wait for them to ask for help, then that’s when you put your hand in and lift them out.

I don’t like this place. A loved one was brought here via ambulance as it was the closet hospital to her. The emergency room is disgusting and dirty. There were a few pleasant staff members and a few others that had too much attitude for no reason.
The place is completely outdated. The soap machine in the bathrooms was broken and had zero soap.
My loved one was here for a full week and there was zero diagnosis. I would not bring anyone here.

If you can make it to another hospital you better try it.
This place is a dumping ground for the local misfits and
crack heads of the hood.

I’ve only walked in here to use the MCU ATM machine, however I am aware that this is basically where the police bring perps who are shot and have no chance of survival, because this hospital is just that bad. Just look at the element sitting on the steps outside. Granted most NYC hospitals have their fare share of vagrants, losers, junkies, hanging outside but this place is notorious for being North Brooklyn’s «place to die» — it’s an eyesore for the area and attracts all kinds of garbage. You are better off crossing the bridge into Lower Manhattan or going to Wyckoff. Any staff you encounter — posses the social skills of a brick. One star because Unilocal doesn’t allow none.

There are a few local hospitals around this area and I prefer this one the most. I’ve been coming here for 5 years so I am familiar with the staff. They are slow here but efficient.
