Agree wholeheartedly on all of the items in the three one star reviews below. In addition, after living in one of their «managed» buildings for almost five years I have yet to hear or see a name of any owners or senior managers. Our lease and lease renewal letters are signed with an illegible scrawl with no printed name below. Their is a relationship with our «landlord» Amy Realty Co tho I am reasonably certain they are one and the same.
Our building in Central Riverdale was built as co-​op by a man named Weiner in 1950. It has seven floors and 100+ apartments. He had problems in selling the apartments for whatever reason so his three sons bought 30 apartments each, which gives them absolute control of the co-​op board, and they proceeded to «sub-​lease» each. This practice continues to this day 65 years later. Our lease states that Amy Realty [no names], truly a phantom company who shares United’s address and phone number. are the «tenants» and sub-​lessors. The only name and direct phone number provided is Hugo, no last name, who is the «field manager» and knows nothing about anything.
My wife and I are both in our 80’s and neither physically or medically capable of another apartment search and move, so we are currently having to put up with a barrage of harassment for undocumented complaints which would cost us more than $ 1000 to rectify, a major burden for us who are squeaking by on pensions and some savings. If they persist this one is going to end up in court. Hopefully we will be allowed to stay or get a reasonable settlement to cover the costs and time to search for and find reasonable, affordable accommodations.

Run… don’t walk away! The service is terrible. The Super’s are lazy… instead of the super doing work the super hires other ppl to «clean» the building… If you have left a message with anyone at UM they might not ever get back to you even after to leaving multiple messages. If you are having a problem with a noisy neighbor they do very little to investigate the issue at hand.

Never again.
I paid them my normal amount of rent one month, and they ‘lost’ the check. When they asked for the money again, I pointed out that the bank had shown the check cashed by United Management, and had provided images that showed signatures endorsing the backs of the checks. The lame excuse they provided was a ‘new computer system that sometimes doesn’t log things,’ although that didn’t stop them from sending several threateningly worded letters asking that I pay them or be faced with legal action. Every time I tried to call and have the records about the ‘missing’ rent changed, they acted as though they had never heard of me before.
When I tried to get out of that dump, the manager threatened to have me arrested because the moving pods were parked in the courtyard of the building, not blocking the doors, and I had already received consent from any residents whose windows would be blocked by them. I also had the super’s permission, but he acted like he never talked to me when the manager questioned him, so he’s a weasel, but whatever.
Then, when I tried to claim my security deposit, they insisted I could have none of it since I had painted two rooms and not painted them back. I informed them that the super had given me permission since the entire apartment had to be renovated anyway. They said the super told them he had said no such thing, so weasel again, but whatever. They claimed the repaint of two rooms would cost $ 1,280 and that’s why I couldn’t have any of the deposit back. When I accused them of thievery and fraud and that I would seek mediation or legal intervention, they refunded half of the deposit.
I was so happy to quit that place I decided to cut my losses and leave.
When the manager laughed that because he owns so many properties that I might very well rent from him again, I laughed in his ear (on the phone) and said «Not if I can help it.»
But that’s United Management in a nutshell: Lazy, opportunistic, money-​grubbing, unprofessional, conniving, deceitful, and cowardly.

We rented from this company and they made every part of renting difficult. When I moved in with my husband we both signed the renewal lease and they sent it back saying only my husband could sign and be listed as the tenant. They also wouldn’t take my calls about issues we had because I was not the tenant of record. They also insisted that any issues be communicated by fax, and would never provide an email address. It was not possible to ever speak with our landlord, though the management personnel claimed they couldn’t authorize anything without him. We had to physically go to the office at least once because they wouldn’t answer the phones. If I argued with the woman in charge of terminating leases, she just responded by getting louder and louder.
When we found a place to buy, we gave just over three months notice of our intention to break the lease 4 months early. Despite very frequent follow up, United didn’t even attempt to show our apartment until after we moved out. They blamed the broker that they themselves chose, and he blamed them. They started the rent at $ 4000 (we were paying $ 3000) and it took months before they eventually dropped down the price to 3100 before they rented it out, at the expiration of our lease. They withheld our $ 6000 security deposit. I’m 90% sure they deliberately kept the apartment vacant instead of making a good faith effort to rent out the apartment. This was a desirable apartment in Brooklyn Heights with a private garden. They kept it vacant to do updates on our dime.
This company is super shady. Constant and deliberate obstacles to urgent communication, rude, unhelpful, and outright mean personnel. If you’re looking for a good management company, I hope you see this in time and keep looking. If you’re looking because they already screwed you over, I’ll meet you on Montague street with a dozen eggs.

This company is great when your becoming a tenant or are one. But once you decide to leave or expect your security it’s a different story… 1^st off the receptionist all act like rude animals that were brought up in a zoo and the person in charge of security deposites her name is Raisa. She is such a disgusting filthy low class rude inconsiderate person who does not do her job right and she certainly does not know how to deal with people. a woman like that should not even be allowed to leave her house! she should be committed to a mental hospital for her actions. The only person at that office that is any kind of help and actually speaks to you like a human and is considerate it is the Larada. So if you have to deal with this sham of a company you should ask for Larada, she is the only one that knows how to be a professional at doing her job and speak to you with good mannerism.

Very hard to communicate with, do not return phone calls, provide necessary documents, or any transparency. Raisa is a particular problem, others at least try.

We live in one of their buildings. As a management company they’re decent. A little hard to get a hold of sometimes. But not too bad as that business goes.

STAY AWAY!
These people are rude and have no intention of providing you with any service after money is collected. They are never in the office and try to rip you on every step of the way. All your requests will be ignored, if you are a day late you will be hit with a $ 100 fee.
