The five star is for the old school ice cream shop. Small ice cream $ 3.00 Worth it. So many flavors. Yum

After some pizza Louie’s was across the street so why not. This place is always a solid spot for some Italian ice or ice cream. They have usually over 20 flavor a of both Italian ice or ice cream. So choices are abound. For a chain in the Brooklyn and queens area Louie’s is good but it is not Ralph’s. What makes them different is that Ralph puts more pieces of either fruit or whatever the flavor is like more pieces of cannoli in the cannoli flavor. But Lou is a good second option as there are more of them around.

After a trip out to Roberta’s in Bushwick, my friend and I decided to take a little digestive walk back to the Bedford L-stop. We were already full from dinner, but when we passed Uncle Louie G’s on that humid Tuesday night, we both knew that we were stopping. Our justification: it’s Italian Ice, so it’s light and it just melts, right?!? The young woman working at the counter was amazing! She was super friendly and patient while waiting on our indecisive selves to make a decision as to which flavor(s) we were going to get. She even helped us narrow down our decisions by informing us that we could get two flavors in the small ice, so naturally, that’s what we did. We followed the employee’s recommendation and tried the Coconut Ice, the Vanilla Chip Dip Ice, the Cannoli Ice, and the Peanut Butter Cookie Dough Ice. My friend really liked the Cannoli Ice because it had actual cannoli chunks in it. I liked the peanut butter one the best, but they were all good. The woman at the counter didn’t lead us wrong. There was a constant flow of customers as we sat and ate our Italian Ice, so I take that as a good sign. Overall, it was a great experience, and at only $ 2 for a small Ice, it’s a bargain. I could definitely see this place being a mecca as the humidity becomes even more unbearable during the hot summer months.

There ain’t no places better for ice cream then Uncle Louie G’s at Graham Ave. As a huge ice cream junky I’ve been to numerous creameries and ice cream places everywhere, but this place has always been the best. I’ve been coming here almost every night for 2 years now and not going to stop any time soon. If you are like me and want to have all the best things at once, get Soprano Spumoni(Creamolata, Pistachio and Chocolate with nuts). It’s just THATGOOD! Uncle Louie is open in winter too, serving hot soups and chocolate. Tip: don’t forget to say«Hi» to Mike, the owner of the establishment. He is often around, having chats with locals.

Hey, I used to work here! This place is really, really wonderful. A great neighborhood spot. About the owner/workers: the boss, Mike, really cares for the people in the neighborhood, and takes the time to really get to know everyone. He’d greet everyone by name and ask how their family’s doing, giving their kids a free cone now and then, and as they’d walk away he’d turn to me at the counter and go, «they’re such a sweet couple, did you know they’re from __? and the husbands a designer!» or something like that. A very genuine and charismatic man. The girls I worked with there were all very sweet highschool or college students trying to make money for the summer. Mike made us all feel trusted, and safe, always making sure we were okay walking home when we got off late. Now about the ice cream: GREAT. Seriously. People kept asking me for recommendations but honestly they’re all good, it just depends on your taste. My favorites were the peanut butter cookie dough, cheesecake, and chocolate fudge brownie ice creams, and the canoli ice. Though there’s also plenty in the way of fruity flavors. Tips: — cash only — yes, you can get two flavors in a small — you can mix and match ices and ice creams — getting a cone is the same price as getting a cup — if you’re vegan or have vegan friends, many of the ices are dairy-free(though not all, so check with with the girl at the counter, the list is hanging on the left inside) — you can make a shake out of any combination of ices or ice creams, and its mixed in with milk and a slightly gelatinous mixture which people either love or find strange depending on what they’re expecting(I personally enjoyed the unique texture) Also, Mike made sure we kept the place clean! We wiped down everything throughout our shift and he mops and sanitizes often. This place is very well-kept. Swing by after dinner sometime, they’re open til midnight!

I liked it: good, oldschool chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream for only 3 dollars a cup. No fancy hipster stuff.

Bad ice cream, artificial manufactured stuff. Also the first four flavors I wanted were«Saturday» flavors, this was a Sunday.

How can you not give 5 stars to this place… variety and quality put together = obvious success. There are so many different ices flavors. The cherry has real cherries inside, the cantaloupe flavors is just right to the dot. So many more flavors to try. The ices are smooth, not too sweet. Since I tried this ices, I do not want to eat the ones from the street vendors, the difference in taste is like night and day. You can ask for a free sample taste before choosing the flavor you want to eat.

Lots of flavors to choose from. I was a bit boring and had the double brownie fudge and was very yummy. Will def be back to try cheesecake and pumpkin pie. The also offer either a cup or cone for the same price which is very generous. The only draw back was they are cash only, which is annoying for me since I never carry cash. They are also open late which is awesome. Will be back for sure!

I think my clothes are getting tighter! I come here once a week on my way to Fluent City… I love the italian ice… it’s not as sweet as some of the ones I had in my past life! They have a huge variety of ice cream & italian ice… Love their punch card — the more you eat(10)… you get a free one!

The owner knows all my kid’s names, always friendly, asks about my family if I’m by myself. Staff is awesome. I bumped into the owner at a restaurant nearby, and he stopped and introduced to his extended family. Oh, and the ice cream /cream ice is AWESOME. Holy Canoli cream ice is the way to go.

I stopped in during a lovely bike-ride on a gorgeous summertime evening. I mixed the Pistachio & Coconut Italian Ice. With each bite, I was reminded of the deliciousness before me. Growing up outside of Philadelphia, I’m constantly in search of the perfect«water ice»(as we used to call it.) Uncle Louie G’s came pretty close. Swing by sometime and check it out.

Now I am not a connoisseur of Ice Cream, but like everyone else it is a nice treat on a Hot Summer Night and Uncle Louie G’s seems to have a nice niche in the market. This location in Brooklyn seem steady with business at 8:30PM a couple of Sunday’s ago. I ordered a «Chocolate Dream» on a sugar cone. While it was tasty. At $ 3 for one scoop seem a little steep. While the taste was not over sweet or to chocolaty, it hit the spot. It also hit my pocket, but I was living large. I guess they make their own Ice Cream since I saw multiple locations in NYC. After I ordered my cone, I notice that they make shakes. Maybe that is the way to go. I will make sure I bring my Black Amex next time. Overall, this is a good location with lots of flavors. If you enjoy variety Uncle Louie G’s may be your cup of tea or Ice Cream. I’m just a chocolate kind of guy. Sorry.

I decided to try the rainbow Italian ice a couple days ago at the Hoyt St. location to see how it fared against Ralph’s Famous Italian Ices. I was sadly dissapointed. The flavors tasted very artificial, especially the red section of the rainbow ice. It reminded almost of cough syrup, just kind of gross. The white and blue sections were okay but overall, I did not enjoy eating Louie’s ice as much as I had Ralph’s ice. I may try a few other flavors but I think I will stick to just ordering their ice cream. Louie, you loose a star today buddy.

The ices are good, you probably should, give them a try. The service is nice, but the Unilocalers are right, they made Ralph’s go bye-bye.
