Given its location, the fact that 2 Tom’s is still able to repel hipsters is a testament to its loyal customer base who crowd it nightly. Friendliest owners in NYC.

You might walk in and be tempted to walk right back out. But don’t! The inside of the restaurant which is covered with wood paneling and smells like smoke, is not representative of the food, which is amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever had a better pasta dish. And the bacon appetizer is amazing — just get it and ask questions later. This is a hole in the wall place with not much of an atmosphere, but definitely worth visiting for an amazing Italian meal. Keep in mind the service and food preparation is a bit slow, so give yourself some extra time if you need to be somewhere.

Agreed with others here saying this is a rare special place. Go support these places in brooklyn! Will keep going back for sure. I would suggest just ordering several things for the table and having some wine.

One of the rare places you will find in Brooklyn – a classic Italian restaurant. The portions are large and family style-be prepared to share. Everything tastes like it comes from a nice old Italian mother’s kitchen.

Ok. For over 30 years I have been hearing about how great Two Tom’s is. People have told me you must have the porkchops it’s their signature dish and when coupled with the vinegar peppers it’s a combo that can’t be beat. Well today was the day I finally made it. When I walked in the place was almost empty. there were two people eating in a rear table and I couldn’t tell if they were employees or customers the next thing my senses detected was cigarette smoke, Lingering cigarette smoke and the smell that wouldnot go away. We ordered appetizers –anti-pasto and baked clams. The anti-pasto, I found very skimpy –it consisted of roasted red peppers, cheese and not very much of it. They baked clams were a little dry but tasty. Then the pork chops came. They were very thick as promised– probably an inch and a quarter thick but garnished with so few peppers that I thought a mistake had been made, I ask for more peppers and was accommodated. Our waiter was also the cook and was very nice but very slow. all in all I considered the meal to be good, not legendary and certainly not the spectacular meal I anticipated.

WOW! Two Tom’s has outstanding food! I’m very particular about my steak as I always like mine well done NO Pink! Most restaurants never get it right and I end up sending it back. But not here this steak is huge and it was well done all the way through. It was not dry or burned but moist and delicious. We also had dessert and the lava cake was to die for! It was hot, gooey and chocolatey and I loved every bite! This is one of those typical family restaurants that has authentic delicious food where everyone feels like family and just has a great time eating, drinking and enjoying each other’s company. It’s a place you can sit for hours because its that homey! Truly an excellent restaurant. I would highly recommend it. I went to NY for a business trip and I’m so glad that my friend invited me and my husband to go it was truly an enjoyable evening with delicious food!

This is one of those places that you reference in a «if I knew today was my last day on earth, where would your eat» conversation. if you are looking for a waiter in a tux and ornate decorations, you came to the wrong place. If you are looking the most delicious manicotti you’ve ever had and pork chops that Fred Flinstone would even approve of. Bingo. There are so many great things to eat here, I suggest bringing friends so you can do family style and have a taste of everything. My personal favorites are the cold fish salad, the manicotti, the steaks and did I mention pork chops… Yabba dabba dooo…

Don’t let the rustic exterior and décor fool you. Two Toms offers the best pork chop money can buy. Simply delicious. I have tried most of the menu on numerous visits both with small groups and large holiday parties. The Toms know how to cook!

This is a classic NY Italian restaurant. The type that doesn’t exist anymore. Inspired by the kinds of places where you walk in and whatever they serve is good, and there’s never a menu. Nowadays they have a menu, but it still has the feel of whatever you are going to eat is going to be awesome. Come here before it disappears. My recommendations: DONOTBEIN A RUSHANDDON’T CRITIQUETHEPLACEONITSDECOR! Go with a large group and make reservations. Pass the plates around family style. Things to get — pasta(either linguine in clam sauce or just marinara) meat in sauce, veal marsala, salad, broccoli, fish salad, and get yourself the pork chop. Bring your own wine, and for bread, go down the street to Mazzola and get a few loaves. The owner doesn’t mind that you bring your own bread and wine. I mean, does it get any better than this?

Asked for seat for 1 and they said not right now. The place was half empty… Claiming waiting for a party that had not shown up yet. And they seated a party of two literally seconds before me. Honestly not seeing many(any) reviews from people of color… Guess black $ ain’t welcome here. Go to Giovanni’s instead. Great food, way better ambiance and everyone welcome.

Going to Two Toms has always been a treat for me and my siblings. My Pop-Pop spent some of his younger years wreaking havoc with fellow New York police officers and the late and great Jimmy at Two Toms. Naturally my Dad has been going there since he was a kid and my Mom since she’s been dating my Dad. I have gone to many dinners there since I was kid and was just there this passed Saturday for my Aunt’s 60th birthday, I knew it was finally time to write a review. As usual I left so full I could of rolled out the door. Along with my family we could not shut up about how delicious our meal was. If you go in and sit and hate the décor you shouldn’t be there. It is an old school restaurant that has not changed much and I am grateful for that. They did get rid of the giant AC unit and old TV(replaced with a flat screen) and thats enough in my book. My family definitely made the most noise on Saturday screaming at each other but some times you’ll be in there with other big groups as well. For example sanitation workers or police officers celebrating something and it is a great energy. You’ll se everyone along with my family helping themselves to booze from the fridge. Does it get better? Ok the FOOD. So like I said we were a big group= family style. We started this Saturday with antipasto, baked clams, eggplant rollitini, and garlic bread. Then for pasta course we had spaghetti with clam sauce and manicotti. We usually have raviolis which are my all time favorite. When I found out they were out I wanted to shed a tear but between eggplant and manicotti I couldn’t of been happier. Then for the last course(the meats) we had the famous pork chops, steak and veal with prosciutto and mozz. Everyone raves about their pork chops which is understandable. It blows my mind how they cook something so thick so perfectly. The peppers on top are unbelievable too. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. I can’t wait to go back for another birthday or celebration. I’m sure my siblings and I will come with an excuse to get a group of 10 – 15 together soon and call for our ressie. Two Toms has been so good to me and my family over the years and I hope everyone in NYC(especially native new yorkers) get to experience it. Go there with an open heart and a completely EMPTY stomach.

I have never heard of this restaurant until I came here with my team at my company for dinner in Mid-August. The restaurant’s layout and décor is a little old style with wood panels and etc. I swear there was a weird scent lingering around the restaurant too. Any way, the staff was nice and friendly, but service was a little slow. We ordered the baked clams to share and those were really good and they were real clams, but what I really enjoyed were the mussels. I normally don’t eat mussels, but as soon as I sunk my teeth into it, I loved it. They were bathed in a little garlic oil and oh my goodness, it was yum! I would come back here just for the mussels. I tried the Linguini with White Clams and was quite disappointed with it actually. It was drenched in so much oil which made it hard to enjoy. The second biggest disappointment of all is that they used canned clams. I really wanted to like this restaurant, but I really didn’t like my dish and it didn’t feel authentic or tasty either. It was a big let down.

Old school! Wood paneling still on the walls. What amazed me the most was I only saw one guy in the kitchen cooking for a full restaurant with about 35 people. The pork chop was really good and I’m not a fan of pork at all. Get the pork chop. You won’t be disappointed. I had the shell steak. It was tasty but not nearly as good as the chop. It’s not something I would order again either. I eat a lot I usually never leave any food but I couldn’t finish that shell steak. Next time I’ll go for the filet mignon or t-bone. Classic spot.

I have to say that I’m not a pork lover on to I was invited to Two Toms. At first my friend and I decided that the portions were to big and that we can share one pork chop… WRONG! We ended up grabbing another. Everything was delicious. I can’t wait to bring my father to this place. He’ll def feel like he’s in heaven. All the beers and wine you can drink as we’ll. This place is very homy and it looks as of a scence of a Mafia Movie. I loved it!

Others have already captured the feel and atmosphere of Two Toms in their reviews, so I won’t repeat what he so accurately wrote. Instead I will add that even a party of two starts out with a bowl… not a small plate… but a bowl full of delicious garlic bread! We were not crazy about the chicken Francese(a bit too much wine and a bit too little lemon) but we loved the eggplant Parmigiana, the salad, the homemade tomato sauce on the perfectly cooked pasta side dish and how well Anthony handles the entire dining room by himself! If you were once from RI and remember Sons of Italy in East Providence, Two Toms will make you homesick! Definitely the place to go for local Italian American home cooking! BTW they now accept credit cards. * this review was written a year ago but moved from the other Two Toms listing ** Update: I tried the pork chop… awesome!

This restaurant scream very traditional Italian from the wooden wall paneling to the long tables put together to fit big groups to the huge serving plates/bowls. The first thing I noticed is that there was a melody in the room. The melody of friends and family in each of the tables chatting and laughing and having what seems great conversations. It was sweet and had a nice ring to it. So what should you expect from Two Toms? Well, expect to order wine because the price is so cheap. Expect the food portions to be huge(especially the pork chops). Expect that the folks who run the restaurant to leave you alone and let you enjoy your meal until you are ready to leave. If you are the ones waiting for a table, expect a long wait because people who dine here not only come for the food but for the atmosphere. Expect a decently priced meal.
