This isn’t the best anything in Brooklyn, but it’s a decent place to grab grub if you happen to be in this specific area of Brownsville. There seems to be 2 rooms. One is where you order and get stuff to go. It’s a small, squared space with old plexiglass walls and a daily menu posted in script. It’s kinda like visiting the sketch post offices, with all business transacted through a small window. You can’t grab a soda, but must figure out what’s in their soda fridge and order something. It won’t be coke, but a Jamaica orange cola. While it sounds clinical the ladies are very friendly. The other room is where you can seat yourself and eat. There’s only a few tables despite a pretty large room, thanks in part to barrels, boxes and display cases relating to non-restaurant business activities. I think they craft wedding cake toppers. The food offerings are Caribbean… goat, chicken, fish, etc. Everyone seems to chose white rice or rice with peas. Whatever you get comes with a scoop of West Indian cabbage/kimchee and a slice or two of plantains. I liked my stew… it had a little heat and there were enough flavors going on with the sides that I was never bored. My friend, however, wasn’t too impressed with his roast chicken(cooked fine but not as spiced as his fave place). In retrospect I paid for his lunch so he could have been a bit less cocky, The management also seem fixated on soap operas. If you like the Yong & the Restless, curried meats and hanging out in Brownsville — this might be your new BFF.

Best Jerk chicken in Brooklyn! I was lucky enough to have found this hidden gem one day after leaving work at Brookdale Hospital! I saw«Freddy”(?) cooking his chicken in the typical drum pan and I feel in love! Since that first day I try to get there at least twice a week for their Jerk, cabbage and rice!!! The husband and wife that run/own the restaurant are the kindest people around! JAH!!!

I live about two blocks away from this restaurant and had never stepped foot in there until about a year ago. Luckily for me, I did… The stew chicken and the curry chicken dishes are delicious amd the service is pretty good. The restaurant could benefit from a little more lighting and a little less salt at times. That being said, this is one of the best kept secrets in Brooklyn.
