The Vitamin Shoppe

They seem to have a good range of supplements, but prices are on the high side. I expect that from a standalone brick & mortar store, though, so that’s not the reason for my low rating.
What I am rating them for is the advice the salesperson all too freely volunteered without even being asked for. I’m fairly knowledgeable about health-​related issues, and was just looking for a vitamin for supplemental nutrition purposes. I only asked where I could find the right section in the store, which was helpfully pointed out, but then while browsing, I found myself being asked about a whole range of what amounted to medical symptoms and conditions, with suggestions offered as to which particular version of the vitamin were (supposedly) most appropriate for the different problems.
To be fair, the advice wasn’t completely off-​the-​wall, but most of it was of the sort that’s based on anecdotal experience or extremely limited initial investigation — none of it was based on well-​established scientific studies. (Personally, I don’t accept blanket health recommendations from even the so-​called Medical Establishment without adequate research behind them, let alone from the «supplement» industry.) Giving them the benefit of the doubt, they stopped just short of offering what amounted to medical advice and prescriptions, but still I found it extremely questionable coming from someone who obviously isn’t a trained (nor indeed licensed) nutrition professional, let alone a medical practitioner.
I think it’s inadvisable for many people to get their health advice from random websites and blogs written by under– or completely unqualified writers, but that is, after all, their own business. Salespeople in vitamin stores, on the other hand, should not be giving, let alone volunteering, such advice themselves. I don’t know if this is the norm at all Vitamin Shoppe stores, but I’ve never experienced such blatantly inappropriate salesmanship at the many health food stores and (fewer) nutritional supplement retailers I’ve patronized over the years. It was really rather disturbing.

Best service ever. I live close to another VS but was in the neighborhood and stopped by this one. Igor there was so helpful. They didn’t have what I wanted and he jumped to order it and have sent to my house across town. Plus he was very friendly and eager to please. I would go here above every VS anywhere.

This place is the best. I recently went in with thefamily, and the gentleman there was super helpful, and was willing to work with me on things that i would lke to purchase and that they didnt carry… Absolute the best Vitamin Shoppe store i have been in. I would highly recommend to go here. Prices are good, and customer service is phenomenal!
