Amazing dinner! The atmosphere and ambiance was first class. My meal was fabulous and the sides were delicious. I loved my rhubarb spritzer. The table side serenade from Susan topped off the night! Can’t wait to go back!

Took my wife out for a birthday dinner which I made reservations for months before and mention I was taking my wife out for her birthday. The moment we walked we knew this place was special they greeted us with complete respect and hospitality took our drink orders and a couple min later a man on the piano. The scene, the music, the hay ride, the atmosphere, the drinks, and the food was all spectacular. We take a quick stroll before our deserts sit and chat with the 2 guitarist and got to know one another came back up for our deserts they followed and sang. Minutes later they surprise not only my wife but myself with a birthday song and dessert. It was just perfect I had forgotten I had mentioned her birthday on the day I made the reservations. Thank you for a perfect evening.

I have visited the Golden Lamb numerous times in the past few years. On different occasions I have dined solo, with a friend, and with small groups, and only for lunch. On the last visit a group of seven of us had lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Initially, although I had made reservations we we not seated in the main dining room(I did not think to make the request.). Despite my initial disappointment the hostess, who I believe is the owner, was kind enough to allow us to choose either remaining dining rooms and graciously permitted us to change tables one we were seated(the window sun blinded us). Our server was on the nicest I have encountered. At the start of the meal we requested separate checks and this server kindly obliged. Golden Lamb changes the six lunch entrée menu daily but I been enough to notice a chicken dish of some sort, Hindale Hash(beef), a pork with apples, and a quiche, often make up the daily selection, along with fresh soups and made from scratch desserts. I have tried the chicken a couple of times which was good but I especially enjoy the pork which is tasty. In the past I have had the chilled pineapple soup and on my most recent visit got to sample the butternut squash. Both were good. My only complaint which which prevented a five star review would be sometimes some of the food is warm(not hot) as on this occasion. Still the meal was tasty and I am sure they would have heated up the plate if requested. In closing, the owner and staff really makes you feel welcomed here.(Often you are brought through the kitchen as you are seated) Lunching here in the spring, summer, fall, or Christmas time each has its own charm. Warmer weather allows you to dine on the deck but the out door fall folliage and the decorated Chrismas interior are also great. Lunch is usually offered Thursday through Saturday and reservations are recommended. You view the animals and visit the small gift shop after eating.

This is such an amazing place! It’s not a dinner it is an event. Comfy, cozy and romantic! Food and service, they raise the bar for us all! Reminds us all to just slow down and savor the moment. The guitarist had a beautiful, soft voice. Cannot wait to return.

We visited the Golden Lamb Buttery yesterday evening for my birthday not sure exactly what to expect but with high hopes. We were blown away. The setting is gorgeous, the barn is magnificent the grounds are beautiful. just couldn’t ask for more. From the minute we got our special drinks to the hayride and the guitar serenade all wonderful. We sat at a special table called” the birds nest”. A very romantic setting. Our châteaubriand and rack of lamb were cooked to perfection as well as the sides. Our chateauneuf de pape was a perfect match and was chosen from a very nice wine list. This special occasion will be well remembered. Can’t think of anything that could’ve been better to improve it!

It is a singular experience in taking your time and enjoying yourself with drinks and dinner in a relaxing, pastoral setting. The food is great, truly, but I think The Golden Lamb experience is about relaxation.

My husband and I had an exceptional evening at Golden Lamb Buttery. My husband took me for my birthday and it was truly special. We arrived a few minutes early and the staff was as accommodating as can be. They ran off to get us some warm cider. We got on the hayride soon after and although it was dark(November) it was warm and cozy under the blankets and we loved the guitar and singing. We returned and were seated in the back dining room in a cozy little book. My husband got the steak and I got the scallops. The scallops were good, but he steak was incredible. We enjoyed all the side dishes that were brought around. My very favorite were the maple glazed carrots! Dessert was wonderful as well and we felt very full and happy as we left. The service is fabulous and the atmosphere is so lovely. There isn’t a better way to spend an evening. I can’t wait to go back in the summer!

I am still basking in the glow of the wonderful evening we spent at the Golden Lamb Buttery last night. We were a party of nine celebrating my mom’s 90th birthday. I had been there before and knew it would be the perfect place for this auspicious occasion. It did not disappoint. We had splurged and made the 1.25 hour trip in a limousine so none of us had to drive. The setting was bucolic and we were greeted by Katie at the door of the barn, and ushered inside the barn and greeted by our server extraordinaire, Brandy, who took such good care of us all evening. We ordered cocktails and went out to the deck to take in the view. We relaxed for a while and then went on the hayride which began with guitarist Susan Lamb leading the whole group in singing ‘Happy Birthday” to my mother. Though we were prepared with shawls brought from home, there are also blankets available to ward off the cool evening air if necessary. We were comfortably seated at our table and the deliciousness began! We all had different choices of soup and after sharing amongst ourselves, pronounced them all wonderful. The main course was the same quality. There was sharing of bites and passing of plates so we could try a little bit of everything.(The only two things that no one at our table ordered was the chilled pear pineapple soup or the duckling.) Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. That goes for dessert too, of course! More sharing, more exclaiming, and another sweet birthday serenade! When we were leaving, Brandy let us know that our driver had been offered dinner, dessert, and coffee while he was waiting. He had already eaten dinner, but he said the Hummingbird Cake was delicious and the coffee was much appreciated. Apparently, the staff makes sure that all limo drivers that are parked out in the parking lot are offered something to eat. Just another special touch, one of many. This is a special place. It is casual and comfortable, yet elegant. The evening glides by, but you are not rushed or hurried. You can feel your blood pressure dropping back into the normal zone! My mom had a great time and has declared that we will have to go back for lunch so that we can further explore the grounds and inside the barn. Thanks to all for a memorable evening!

This farm house restaurant is the perfect example of 5 stars. I could not have had a better experience. The Golden Lamb Buttery was AMAZING. My boyfriends family took the lot of us to this beautiful country establishment for some holiday family fun. The drive was dark and through backroads of beautiful Connecticut farmland, but was easily located off the road. The place is a big barn, complete with gift shop, that hosts historic pictures and articles all over the walls. The staff was dressed in period barn clothes, and provided us with drinks of our choice(Hot Rum Toddies!) As we perused the grounds and waited for our holiday hayride. Once the hayride started, we were welcomed onto a comfy tractor(if there is such a thing) with our toddys, and given blankets, and a guitar player! The group sang Christmas carols as we were towed through the farm, being shown deer that were wandering around the woods.(While it was a little kitchy, thats exactly what you want for the holidays) Back at the barn, we were shown to our table for dinner. The menu is special and different every night, and recited to the guests by the server. The main courses that night included the infamous roasted duck, beef tenderloin, seared scallops, or lamb Osso Buco style. I went for the beef, medium rare, with the potato au gratin and caramelized brussel sprouts. We were offered a choice between 4 different soups, two hot and two cold. The Scotch Barley was wonderful, hot and hearty, while my Creamy Cauliflower was supposed to be hot but didn’t quite make it that far. Nonetheless, it was wonderful. During the meal, we were served family style side plates, including maple glazed carrots, creamed spinach, and sweet corn bread pudding(AAAHHHH yum yum yum yum) Dessert was spectacular. Choices went from a HUGE piece of chocolate mousse, to creamy cheesecake, or coconut layer cake. There was not one part of this dining experience to complain about. For a special time, this was definitely the right place to go.

My husband and I had our wedding at the Golden Lamb at the end of July, and it was simply magical. The setting of the 1,000 acre farm is beautiful. We had our ceremony outside under a tree in a field surrounded by old stone walls, with views of a pond and rolling fields in every direction. Our guests really enjoyed the hayrides during cocktail hour. The service was outstanding. In the months leading up to the wedding Katie, the proprietress, was extremely responsive and accommodating. She was able to honor all of our requests(e.g., having iced tea and lemonade at the ceremony, bringing in a special beer to serve, bringing the bridal party to the ceremony site in the hay wagon, etc.) with no extra charge.(One of the best parts of the experience is that we never felt like we were being ripped off, and it ended up costing what we expected it to cost from the beginning.) The service was on the day of the wedding was excellent, from the guitarist who played music on the hayrides to the servers to the hostess. The food is also phenomenal. Our guests are still raving about how good it was. The GLB grows much of their own produce organically and serves it in their restaurant. Everything, from the hors d’oeuvres to the entrees to the dessert buffet, surpassed our expectations. We wouldn’t have changed a thing about our wedding day. So many of our guests commented that it was the best wedding they had ever been to(it certainly was for us!). I highly, highly recommend the GLB to anyone considering a farm wedding in New England. A wonderful place to go for dinner, too — we’re planning on going back every year for our anniversary.

Hands down one of the best dining experiences of my life. The service here is without question incredible. The ambiance is something that I can’t imagine any other restaurant could create without owning this plot of land. The food is inspired and imaginative – the servers know how to suggest and explain and everything we tried was primo. Can’t wait to return.

Fantastic! 7 out of 5 for service and ambiance. 3.5 for food and wine. My fiancé took me here for our post engagement celebration dinner — very smart decision. We started by being introduced to our server, ours was Robin — wonderful lady –who took the time to learn our names. We were then free to walk around or join the other customers on a hayride. Our drinks were not finished by the time we went on the hayride and halfway through Robin showed up on a golf cart to deliver them to us — now that’s service! We then spent as much time as we liked enjoying the view off the back deck with no pressure to join most of the other customers in the dining room until we were ready to eat. The food was above average and huge portions — you will not go hungry here. We chose a bottle of wine that was not to our liking and when we ordered another bottle they whisked away the first with no complaint and took it off our bill. Very impressed with how they handled it. Robin took excellent care of us, she even made us feel comfortable with taking time out to check out the stars off the back deck before our desserts. Can’t think of another restaurant where you can take a break from dinner for as long as you like. The experience here was one of a kind. Great prices as well. To top it all off, we were serenaded by Susan Lamb with her guitar. Magical all around. We look forward to our next visit!

Yesterday we had an elegant lunch at The Golden Lamb Buttery served by Laurie. I had a martini and my wife had pinot grigio. For lunch Bev had scallops and I had roasted chicken. The food and drinks were both excellent, and the view from our table on the deck was outstanding. This is a very beautiful restaurant in an old quaint barn with lots of family history. It felt very relaxing to have lunch at this Buttery. Whenever we cruise to northeastern CT in our Corvette this will be a favorite stop.

This place was awesome. I went there to check it out, not only for lunch, but also as a potential wedding venue for my upcoming wedding. The food was delicious, the place was beautiful and exactly what I was looking for in a venue. It has the perfect rustic touch, and just an all around great experience. I will say the service was a bit slow, but it’s not exactly a place you want to go, sit eat and leave. It’s meant so that you relax, and enjoy your time and company while you’re there. If you’re interested in a quite lunch or romantic dinner I definitely recommend it!

Wow! How lucky am I that my sister and I took a wrong turn down some country road and happened to stumble across the Buttery. Seriously, look at a map it is in the butt-ass middle of no where! What a cool place. Do a google search and read some of the history, it is super cool. It is an absolutely beautful old farm house. The servers will take you on a tour when you get there, making sure to walk you through the kitchen to your table. Charming is the only way to describe it. Everything that touched our mouths was amazing, right down to the secret flavored iced tea w/mint leaves and orange slice. The attention to detail is unreal. One article states you are more likely to get 50 yard line tickets to the Super Bowl than to get a reservation here in August. So plan early! Or go for lunch like we did. It will exceed all of your expectations!
