I shared the fake chicken with eggplant, the vegetable egg foo young and the chicken chow fun. The chow fun was pretty good, nothing special, but the vegetarian dishes were amazing! If this were vegetarian-only, I would give this place 5 stars. The ambiance is definitely more casual and less trendy than other restaurants nearby, it seems like a more old-fashioned chinese restaurant. I’ve been craving that fake chicken since I went and can’t wait to try it again!

This place is incredible. The food is always fresh and the waitresses are always taking care of their customers. I was never a fan of Chinese food until I started to come here.

Great food. I got the fried wings to start with which were thick and moist with meat and very flavorful. The main course was Gerneral Tsos Chicken. We got white meat which was cooked perfect. Crunchy on the outside and nice and moist inside. The sauce was fantastic. We got fried dumplings which were perfect if you like the doughy kind. We also got the wontons in hot sesame oil which were the best I have had. Although we ordered delivery this time(nice delivery guy), we have also been in the restaurant which is very comfortable and so different than the majority of counter restaurants we have in Brooklyn. Oh, and delivery came faster than we thought possible. Really.

Soggy anemic mess passing for a Sesame chicken. No texture or crispiness, brown chicken swimming in watery immitation of a sesame sauce with few bits of soggy broccoli. No flavor whatsoever. All this for $ 13. Next time i’ll skip to any decent takeout for $ 6 – 7 proper dish 2 stars because I had other dishes before and they were mediocre rather than just bad.

Never have written a negative review just had to after this. Ordered delivery for the first time and was yelled at by the delivery driver for the tip amount that was given. I always tip well. It was delivery wasn’t being waited on. He said he should have gotten a percentage of the total. Never order take out from here.

My wife loves the Szechuan Triple Crown dish. Good service and much nicer than the average hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant.

Oh wow, this was the WORST. Was I this unlucky? — I can’t understand why there aren’t one-star reviews all along this page. I had the black bean dish with mock-chicken — I know, sometimes mock-chicken isn’t so great but these guys seemed to make a thing of their special mock-chicken menu. But it wasn’t just that(which was the absolute worst soy protein I’ve encountered — soggy and mushy and flavourless, which is a question of preparation not ingredient), but the whole dish. It was all so flavourless and slippery and glutinous — I felt like I’d been given a big bowl of pondslime. I did consider just seeing if I could send it back but it was already clear from the service so far that this was not a place with that customer-centric mentality where sending something back would be achievable without a lot of stress and bad blood. So I buckled down and asked for hot sauce to try and make it edible. Even the hot sauce was basically a bowl of red oil. And it’s not that I’m anti good-greasy food. This was just the pits. The only pleasant aspect was the water chestnut slices of which there were maybe five, because you can’t destroy the wonder of water chestnuts. Also — I know you don’t go to Chinese restaurants for wine but still — there was one single white wine choice on the menu and oof, it was horrid. And also, this is a minor point but — why on earth am I given two spoons as the only cutlery? I had to ask for chopsticks/fork and the way this request was received, it was clearly something you only got on request. Even the green tea(which, to be fair, was free) tasted stewy and burnt. Oh dear. Even writing this review just makes me revisit how bad it was.

While tasty, our meals lacked the spice one would have expected at a Szechuan restaurant with the little red peppers next to each of the items we ordered. Next time I’ll have to ask about the heat and see if peppercorns appear in in pepper sauce. In the end, I left satiated but disappointed.

The sesame chicken is the best I’ve ever had. The sauce they use is so good and above any other sesame chicken I’ve ever tasted. I like to substitute the broccoli with water chestnuts. The green beans are also very delicious. You get a choice of white or brown rice. Many places charge extra for brown rice, so that’s a plus.

Lunch special all week even the weekend! Some things are better than others, however for the lunch special you can’t go wrong. I work in the area and try not to eat this too often but when your in the mood it hits the spot.

This dine in Chinese restaurant is very accommodating. The staff is pleasant and very attentive. Your glass of water will never be empty. You can always get a free table with no wait. Your food is brought out in lightning speed. I tend to pass on their fried items and go for the sautéed and steamed dishes. I have been coming here for years and don’t see that changing since they are consistent in quality and service.

Best tasting Chinese food I have ever had. The staff is very willing to customize your meal so it’s exactly what you want.

I have never had worse General Tso’s chicken in my life. Unlike the earlier reviewer(did we eat from two different restaurants?), mine wasn’t crispy at all — more like limp and soggy.(I didn’t even know chicken could be soggy!) The sauce tasted awful and smelled even worse. My fried rice was also exceptionally greasy(and tasted like oil, too). The only edible dish was the cold sesame noodles — while not totally cold, they were quite large and pretty tasty. I’m not a picky eater, and I generally love a good Chinese takeout spot. But this has got to be the worst one I’ve ever encountered. Go elsewhere.

If I could I would give them zero stars. I’ve tried eating in and tried the takeout. They are so rude, over priced, run of the mill and always mess up the order. I have fish allergies that were disregarded when ordering a «vegetarian dish» and alerting them. They are very very nasty which makes it hard to enjoy the food. Red Hot Szechuan is super close, fresh, friendly, offer average prices and great portions– bon appetite

I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone! They are rude and always mess up my orders. And when I call them to tell what’s wrong, they are getting even more rude and never even try to help. I will never order from there anymore and I warn everyone not to do it as well!

eh. I had the sesame chicken which was good. pork fried rice is good. my husband had the Szechuan chicken/beef combo and it was weird. would not recommend it. vegetable dumplings were terrible. they tasted fishy and were in a green seaweed looking wrap. sauce for dumplings is bad. they don’t have cheese wontons? come on! shrimp toast was so so. it was very expensive. $ 40 for the amount of good we got? no leftovers even!(the only reason we ate most of it all was because we had been at octoberfest drinking beer all day and starving) it’s just not traditional enough for me. the only good thing is that it was delivered in about 20 minutes. I won’t deliver from here again. still waiting to find the perfect Chinese delivery place in park slope. sigh.

Maybe the take out is worse than if you get the food to stay but my chow mein was bland at best. I don’t know how their other dishes are but I will never be getting that again. Definitely don’t get the chicken chow mein

Was looking for a quick bite. Found this place. Food was good, not great but I would def eat here again. CuStomer service was awesome, my waitress was a sweetheart. She kept checking to see if we needed anything else. I left her a nice tip. Def a place to give a chance :-)

To be fair I have to wonder if this is a restaurant that has fallen on its own sword. This part of Park Slope is the most banal, bland and monied part of Brooklyn and I can’t imagine most of the locals, with their albino spouses and reality-free kids, really wanting authentically dynamic Szechuan fare. And that’s probably why the food here is pretty banal, bland and almost completely non-Szechuan. The room is nice, the service is swift and the prices — at lunch — are very good. But the food is blah. Blah soup. Blah rice. Blah entrée. Huge portion, where I saved half for lunch tomorrow, but it’s too blah to call my name and cheat. Of the 20 or so Chinese places to eat near Park Slope, I’ve tried them all and now believe there are just 3 worthy of anyone’s time. This isn’t one of them, unless you have kids, a nanny and grandma to feed an can’t have anything too spicy or flavorful. Then please go here and stay here.

Funny that all the reviewers that rated SD a one star are all Asian. Prob the competitors kids or workers . Been coming here for 15 years. Reliable good service. Quality tasty food. Try garlic chicken with white rice. Never fails
