Stephanie Donlin Art and Design

Stephanie Donlin was a huge help to me and a team of over eighty volunteers at a recent New York Cares Day event at Phyllis Wheatley School in Brooklyn. I was the volunteer Site Captain for the event and was responsible for pulling together a leadership team to support thirteen separate projects that needed to happen over one day. Five of these projects were mural related including one that involved painting original pieces across two full walls of a basketball gymnasium. I immediately called Stephanie.
Besides being a personal friend that is consistently reliable, Stephanie is organized and a pleasure to work with. And on top of this, she is a phenomenal artist.
The event ran smoothly and I can’t overstate how helpful it was to have Stephanie in charge of the gymnasium. I have managed close to 15 similar large scale volunteer days over the past decade and murals can often be the thorn in an otherwise positive day when they don’t get finished or are poorly executed. Stephanie and her team of volunteers transformed the gymnasium into a beautiful scene of integrated sports figures interacting across the walls and interspersed them with motivating words such as teamwork, goals, friends, etc. This work was extra inspiring when I considered the student population that attended Phyllis Wheatley.
Ninety-​nine percent of the students at the time were eligible for the free lunch program and a significant portion came from the local homeless shelters that surrounded the industrial neighborhood in East New York where the school was located. I was very grateful for Stephanie’s leadership and creativity in helping to leave behind something beautiful for these kids to experience on Monday morning and for the years to come.

Donlin has consistently done amazing pro bono design work for Alphabet Arts, a non-​profit volunteer artist collective I co-​founded in 2009. She is extremely talented in both print and web-​based graphic design, as well as patient, professional, extremely generous and easy to communicate with, and timely in meeting deadlines. I cannot recommend Donlin Art & Design highly enough!
