Definitely one of those hip eateries where locals go for some inspiration. I saw a handful of people in the restaurant working as they sipped their coffee, which are pretty fair as far as coffees go.

Super hip but dirty and dingy. I was afraid my latte would be contaminated with germs. Fruit flies everywhere. But it was actually a decent cup of coffee.

Chill vibe, healthy menu and cool music but seriously overpriced, especially for a menu that has almost zero protein on it. I paid $ 11 for a salad w an egg, half an avocado, a few slices of tomato and a bunch of lettuce. It was good, but would have been much happier if they offered grilled chicken or reduced prices. Their salmon avocado toast sandwich is probably the best bargain.

Nice place, run(and managed) by lovely people. Even my dog demands that we stop here on our walks. Very good coffee and an interesting selection of bites. Owner always toasts my muffin for me(not a euphemism!), and it’s worth the wait. Great place.

I’m surprised by some of the bad reviews and low star ratings. Even people who wrote rave reviews give it three stars??? The coffee was fantastic. On a busy day we had great, timely food and super attentive service. The Perkins sandwich and the omelette were just right. Man, and I may just go back for another muffin.

Unlike recent reviewer claims, this place is very special! Such an axing vibe, you feel like you’re traveling – food simple and delicious. Dogs and kids galore. I love the 20dollar latte –I used to live around the corner, but now I make sure to visit each time I’m back in New York.

A very chill coffee shop on a quiet street right next to Fort Greene Park. No pretentions, very laid back, and a nice interior. Good coffee(La Colombe) and a good cookie! Nothing super special, though.

This place is like that amazing vintage find you discover at the flea market — eclectic, cozy with a well-worn vibe… The gal behind the counter was beautiful and charming, the food was delicious(despite my initial hesitation in terms of ordering a mostly veggie lunch!) … Oranchata and the Isleys playing in the background out this place over the top. The best part of all is — it’s relatively quiet(compared to your average generic Starbucks) if you want to do work here, and it has tons of style. I had the Bliss. It was.

I live in the neighborhood and come here all the time. Between the delicious food(the Japanese Zen eggs and the Charlie Perkins are my jam!!!), the hilariously clever menu, polite staff, and welcoming environment, it’s no wonder that I keep coming back!

Reminds me of home! I’m sure New Yorker’s look at the jars of Vegemite and wonder… why? It’s an acquired taste. Had the Tamarama(avocado, tomato etc on toasted ciabatta) this morning along with a lovely little cortado. Definitely hit the spot!

Smooch is THE Spot ! The Music is the best and the coffee too ! And there is a funkyness to the whole experience that brings flavor to your day and opens your mind wide and clear. Not many other place pulls that quite as well ;-)

Great experience. Amazing food and friendly service. Hilarious menu with excellent vegetarian and vegan options. The food is incredibly fresh. It’s a small casual spot and the menu warns that the owner is a flake so don’t be surprised if they are out of something. But that appears to be all part of the charm of this rustic and simple hidden gem. I walked by tons of times before finally eating here and I’m sorry I waited so long. Will be a regular spot in our brunch, lunch and late day drinks rotation. I recommend but come w an easy going attitude.

I discovered Vegenaise here and I must admit that ‘ish is freakin’ delicious. You crafty vegans have been holding out. Had a lovely sandwich with grilled tofu, lettuce, Vegenaise and tomato. There’s comfy seating while you work on your laptop. The menu just irritated me because I had to read really long names, such as the«Let’s be Nice to Everyone Except the Assholes Who’ve Trashed Us on Unilocal Sandwich of Harmony.» I then had to read the really long description right below to figure out what was in the sandwich. So, guilty(raising hand). I am one of the assholes you speak of. I ordered a glass of wine and was kind of appalled at the greasy-dusty film on the outside of the glass. I saw the owner(I’m guessing) tasting some of the food that he was casually mixing with his bare hands. One night, a big and excited dog was roaming around and it rushed to greet me as I opened the door. Again, no one cared. Basically, I get a very strong«come if you want, don’t if you don’t want to» vibe from Smooch. But dang, that sandwich was good.

Foods is good. Little too pricy. Space is neat or could easily be neat. Unfortunately someone has decidedly draped everything in a veneer of pretension and it makes going here unbearably«cool» for my taste. Place is tooo much.

Stumbled upon Smooch and loved everything about it. I joined Unilocal just to post this. It was so relaxing that people even forget their belongings there. Someone called to ask about his backgammon set, which was still perched on one of the tables. Another was reminded that her yoga mat had been forgotten there again. The coffee was perfection as were the omelets, toast, and salad that was served quickly and the juices were good too. I especially loved that the coffee was served in a glass — like in parts of Europe. The experience evoked the Old World in a positive way and the owner/cook/server was friendly and nurturing. The menu is original and funny!

Smooch has delicious drinks and vegan food. I ordered a sandwich when I went. I can’t remember which one exactly, but it had tofu on it and the bread was great. I like that they have wine so I can relax and enjoy my food. There isn’t much seating, so I can imagine finding a spot can be a competitive sport during busy hours. The man behind the counter was slightly testy and seemed moderately confused about the menu items in a way that absolutely did not arouse empathy.

The food is freaking amazing… when they have it. This restaurant is the definition of ridiculous. They never have any food. You cannot order a meal here without the barrista telling you that they’re out of some ingredient. Instead of ordering I’m asking for food«Do you have ???» Usually they respond no. The staff is also impolite and lazy, but it’s New York so no surprise. Today, for the first time, they had all the ingredients to make my first choice meal.(Note: Choose at least 3 meals because odds are they won’t have ingredients for the first two.) I ordered a breakfast sandwich and it was fantastic. So great, I was very impressed. However the tasty food did not overcome the atrocious service, and so it only receives two stars.

Yes as mentioned before VERYUNPOLITESTAFF, MISTREATING !!! Food is expensive and portions are so small ! It’s like they doing you a favor that you came in and pay so much money, more then average, to eat their«golden» food… Not really !!! Even Juice Press raw organic chain is a highest quality and even there is not expensive as here !!! Ditch this place — STAYAWAY! Brooklyn bullshit, as Biggy would say …

Not cool. The coffee and tea were okay. However some of the arrogant staff leave little to be desired. My second time arriving to this’ hipster’ drag I stood for more than 10 minutes in a near empty shop only to be ignored by the barista. I spoke up three times only to be given an excuse as to why I could not place an order. I could have made a scene, however I decided to simply walk away and never return. It was for the best. Though the experience did remind me of why I originally ditched New York City for good.

Stopped by for a nice cup of iced coffee, not bad. Place was a little stuffy like it needed some air conditioning or maybe some febreze. Service was friendly and prompt.

Un bon café, bonne nourriture, super fille mignonne avec dreads derrière le comptoir. Que pourriez-vous demander au café de Brooklyn. Sera de retour quand je visite de Brooklyn à nouveau.
