Sallys is pricey but everything is made to order and fresh! This is the most authentic Jamaican restaurant in Brooklyn so its worth every penny! They have actually never failed me ever! Also, always get the pepper shrimp when they have it. Oh! And its cash only… Bo!

This 4 star rating is for the oxtail only. I have never eaten there and just take out. I think it’s very tasty but I’m no expert when it comes to Caribbean food. Yet, I have tried oxtail from 3 or 4 different Jamaican spots and this was the best. I also liked the fried dumpling and Irish moss! Their Mac and cheese are bland.

Can use a renovation, but for the most part great authentic Jamaican food. Fried chicken is a must have. There is no wait for dining and the staff was very courteous and nice. Overall I would recommend.

The best West Indian restaurant on the planet. The other reviews are a bunch of haters. Their ackee and salt fish is second to none. The cornbread is always great. The tea salad veggies are superb. This restaurant is a gift from God himself. Long live Sally’s.

Stopped by Sallys for take out and picked up 3 large oxtail dinners. Price was reasonable($ 13 for a large) went to use my card and was told their machine was down, lucky thing I had cash or I had to use their Atm machine. Staff was friendly and order didnt take long to prepare at all. Food was fresh, but damn the cook decided to spice it up that day LOL I had to have 3 drinks on deck while eating that plate, very spicy! Had my mother coughing LMAO The rice was tasty and soft just how I like it with plenty of gravy. The oxtail was very tender, about 5 pieces but I was full after I ate and immediately had the idas LOL. Would return…

My husband and I visit here for breakfast whenever we are in Brooklyn; which is every other weekend. We usually get the same thing: ackee and salt fish with provisions and a side of fried dumplings. Everything is usually on point except for the latest visit today 5÷24÷15 I cut into my boiled dumpling and there was a very long hair embedded into the dough. My appetite was lost and I discarded the rest of my food. So the question arises as to whether precautionary safety and health measures are being followed in the kitchen where we cannot see where the food is being prepared.

1st time here. The food was actually decent. As a Jamaican it lacked some of the island flare and spice. It’s basically home cooked dishes but for everybody. The oxtail was great, fried chicken tasty but on the dry side, baked mac and cheese was basic in flavor. Bland is too bad of a word to describe it. I added some chopped scotch bonnet peepers to give it some life. The stew chicken was good gravy was sweet but flavorful. Pricing isn’t too bad. I was disappointed that as a dine in experience, they don’t have free refills on soda. I saw them use a soda gun which means it could be an option. Especially when they are $ 5 each. It gets 2 stars becaisr The service was a little on the slow side. We were a group of 11 and there was also a group of maybe 25 and I don’t believe the wait staff was prepared to handle that. Some if the staff I noticed had a short temper and I witnessed an altercation between patron and waiter. Our waiter was really attentive and patient. He also made sure that we received everything, especially since there was a little confusion when we placed our orders. The fid did take a little while to reach the tables but it was hot and fresh. My daughters food came out within 10 minutes of ordering. Bravo to mt waiter for picking that up. All in all, I would go back but in a smaller group or one on one. They do have a large space, seating capacity of 225 – 245, so you can rent it out and have an event.

I’ll start by saying that this review is based mostly on the fact that they didn’t have ¾ of the menu available due to an issue with their grill… arghhhh!(It was 1pm on a Tuesday)
I initially ordered salmon and when the waiter returned, he informed me that I couldn’t have salmon because the grill was not working. So I changed my order to shrimp with pasta. His response was, «Oh you can’t have that either. You actually can’t have anything from the middle of the page(on the menu) down or anything on the other page on the left of the menu,» as he motioned with his hands to inform me of what was unavailable. My friend and I had to laugh because it was so unbelievable. I eventually settled on pepper steak because none of the chicken dishes that were available came with white meat. The pepper steak was pretty tasty but I can’t imagine going back to this restaurant for it(I live in Queens). So overall, the experience was very disappointing. I will continue on my quest to find another Caribbean restaurant to fall in love with.

Took my boyfriend here for some authentic jamaican food(he’s Irish) and was sorely disappointed with the experience. We had to wait forever to get our food despite there not being a lot of people waiting before us. I ordered the shrimp roti and since I was waiting forever the thought occurred to me that I should ask if they devein their shrimp. The answer — nope. Grossy. The food is over priced and the décor(especially for the take out area) doesn’t match the prices. It looks really outdated, sparse and a bit grungy The servers are usually staring at the television and just not that friendly or professional. It seems like somebody’s family member or friend hooked them up with the job and that they don’t really want to be there. Parking is super tight.

A bunch of thug looking guys at the register that were unfriendly when I ordered at night. In the daytime they serve you less food. Overall I’m not that satisfied with this place.

Visited this location on V-Day. Very nice décor. Waiter was super friendly and attentive. The food was very good. I ordered the Jerk Chicken dinner and my companion ordered the Curry Goat dinner. The amount of food given was generous. I would visit this location again. The food is a tad bit pricey for a local spot. But based on the service and food it was worth it.

Pricey for a «neighborhood joint,» but this«joint» is so much more you can’t ignore the delicious food on their menu. A staple in Canarsie for many years, this place really is about it. Go with a date, friends after work, or before you party at the lounge next door(or a few doors down… and you can tell them I sent you-watch the look of wonder as they say so?! LOL) Enjoy yourself, your summer and #partyresponsibly ;D

Very decent restaurant. I prefer them for breakfast. They are very good for soups also. Some meals like the oxtails are a little to oily. But I would only recommend this for a quick take out.

Just had the most disgusting vegetable roti from this place. Never been here before and after what I just experienced i will not be returning. In a nutshell the roti was a bunch of steamed vegetables wrapped in a rotiskin which was wet and soggy. I could’ve gotten a better one from the Dunkin Donuts across the street. Word to the wise — you may want to try somewhere else if you’re in the mood for some good roti. EATATYOUROWNRISK!!!

Stew Oxtail– the Best and most expensive in Brooklyn Fried chicken: Good Curry Goat– I have had better at Nicki’s Jerk chicken– Good-Baked, not done in pan Akee and Salt fish– Overpriced… you can get cheaper and tastier a few blocks away at Niki’s Rice and peas: you are lucky if you can find 5 – 10 peas in your rice… lol! The service leaves a lot to be desired. The cashiers on the take out side lack customer service skills. Overall they can all take a customer service class! I am a fan only of their Stewed oxtail!

The atmoshpere on a Sunday evening is quiet and a bit somber with old school reggae chunes blaring in the background. I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and peas with a sorrel which was a bit more on the«gingery» side and my best friend had ordered the curry with white rice as well as the sorrel. Besides the waiters staring us down while we were eating it was a cool dining experience. Not at all a big crowd and the food was delicious. the price was very reasonable as well. Next time I’d try some of their drinks.
