Royal gave me a mundane dining experience with boring food and lousy service. I had more luck getting things when I asked a busboy rather than a waiter, after multiple tries. IMO the key to Royal’s continued success must be the business district providing foot traffic.

Just an average diner. Service was fast and friendly. You do get what you ask for. The mushroom omelette was good. The home fries were just okay. It needed pepper and ketchup for an instant kick in flavor. Coffee was hot and satisfying. I’d give it another shot.

Okay food, nothing that great but nothing that bad. The food is good to get you full but the wraps always hit the spot. The philly cheese steak wrap is the way to go or the chicken finger wrap. The staff is very friendly and always check up on you. Definitely worth a trip

I can’t believe I’ve never come here. After all this years, I finally came with the bf. Friendly service and a homey atmosphere, that’s how I like my diner. The food also came fast which I was very impressed. The portion was big and the food was your good average diner food. There were a lot of people at 9am on a Thursday morning. It seems like a neighborhood spot for breakfast with older couples and the elderly filling in most of the seats. The price is right, the food fills my belly, and the atmosphere along with the music transports me in a world where I can eat breakfast peacefully with great company. What more can I ask from a diner? Royal Diner, I’m glad I finally came. I will be back.

Great local diner. The staff knows all the local clientele. Fast service. Lots of counter space and a big room in the back. Basic diner menu, we’ve only tried breakfast so far. ..

This diner is an oldie but a goodie. Have been going here since I moved to bay ridge in 2006. there are definitely no bells and whistles but this diner can give you exactly what you’re looking for, if it’s just good diner food. it’s reasonably priced and the ingredients are always fresh. The owner George is exceptionally nice as well!

The menu has everything you could think of and the delivery is super quick. I usually order from here when I want a decent omelette and don’t want to wait 40 minutes for delivery. It’s not the«greatest meal ever» type of food but it’s pretty good… It’s a diner and tastes like diner food. Prices are pretty reasonable and like I said, lots and lots of options!

Been going here for years. Used to be my friend would talk me into going and I fought it every time.(I don’t like going to eat breakfast on the weekends at places where I can’t get a bloody mary or a mimosa.) But this place won me over. The servers are extremely nice and accommodating. Maybe it’s because we’re regulars, but I’ve never experienced unduly slow service or subpar food as others have mentioned. The coffee is completely tolerable most of the time(although I’ll admit that my standards have fallen a long ways in the 14 yrs since I moved here from the NW). Of course, I always go with traditional breakfast fare; eggs, bacon, toast, hashbrowns, omelets, waffles, pancakes, etc. All of these items are done exactly the way you would want them. A true diner in the sense that they know how to cook eggs and breakfast meats. I don’t know why anyone would go to a diner for anything other than breakfast unless they are very old and it is the nearest place on foot. The waffles kick ass. Strawberries and whipped cream? Yes, please. Extra helping of unhealthy packaged syrup? In a jif. Their pancakes have just the right density to air ratio(no, they’re not light and perfectly fluffy like my moms makes, but they are totally good for a diner). I have never had an egg here that was anything other than cooked properly. For those over-medium lovers out there, this is your spot. That makes them golden in my book. Yes, it is a grease pit and smells like one, but it’s otherwise clean and bright, and I always leave stuffed to the gills, ready for a lazy day. Afterwards I never fail to gravitate to the discount stores just a couple doors down — a perfect way to aid the digestion process with a low-impact retail workout. All part of my can’t-lose-at-life strategy! Ask me how! Really though, these things are why I love living in Bay Ridge.

The service and the food are the best in Bay Ridge. Been coming here for years. Great authentic Brooklyn diner experience. Would recommend for anyone who just wants a nice local place where the staff treat you like family

The food is good, the servers are pretty good. You can usually get a table. Prices are average. I thought I found a little gem and had eaten there 6 or 7 times but I will not go any more because inevitably me and everyone else in my group smells like cooking oil after eating there. It is nauseating. I have never encountered this anywhere before and my friend in the business says it’s because they don’t keep their kitchen exhaust system on. Whatever it is it is gross and my clothes literally need to be drycleaned after going there. Would love to give them 3 stars but cannot.

With the number of diners dwindling in Brooklyn, I was thrilled to find this one hiding out on 5th Avenue. We did a take out… the chicken florentine and the Greek salad are delicious and plentiful. The person taking the order on the phone was extremely pleasant and seemed very willing to please. My dh said that when he picked up the food, this gentlemen was very friendly. I will be ordering from here again. Great find!

I discovered this place recently after waking up one morning absolutely starving and not wanting to leave the house. It was one of the few options on Seamless that was open and it had a super fast delivery estimate of 15 – 30 minutes, add to that a very low delivery minimum and low priced eats and I was in. I’ve now ordered from here on numerous occasions, almost always for breakfast. The food comes hot, fast, and for the price there’s a lot of it. Their omlettes that come with homefries and toast and I highly recommend them. I have also ordered later in the day and still the delivery is super fast, courteous, and the food always comes as ordered. The iced coffee does only come in one size and isn’t the best, but it’s a diner and the food is diner quality as well, solid delicious food that will fill you up for not a lot of cash. Check this place out for sure!

Slooooooooooooooooooooowwwww, sloooooooooooooooooo, sloooooooooooooww. Did I mention this place is on non-NYC time? The line cook was too busy BSing with one of the customers who thought he was cool because he spoke spanish. Our order sat there for 45 minutes while these guys BSed. Fuck this place. There are far better diners out there. On top of that the food: tuna melt, scrambled eggs were barely mediocre. Fail. Next.

This place is really nothing special and it is, yet again, another place my parents seem to go to that I don’t quite understand the reasoning behind.(Okay, I understand. It’s within walking distance.) The food is mediocre at best. I have never had anything there that I thought was really good or worth the price. I will say that this place gets the top vote for the most disgusting«soup» I have ever eaten in my life. I should have known something was up when my father, a cream of turkey soup fanatic, passed along this soup to me. I have tried time and again to put into words what I had attempted to eat that day but I’m really at a loss. How do you manage to make soup that is practically a solid???

The Royal is your classic old school diner. It’s not a fine culinary experience, but in certain circumstances and depending on your mood, it can’t be beat. If you’re after a few burgers, maybe a triple decker or open turkey sandwich, some chicken fingers with french fries or other classic diner food, you’re in for luck. Breakfast? No, it’s not brunch served with a mimosa on a sidewalk in Park Slope, but it’s a solid diner breakfast sold at a reasonable price. If it’s the perfect Eggs Benedict you’re after, look elsewhere. If you want pancakes with eggs, bacon and some corned beef hash, this is the place to be(and keep your cardiologist on standby). As for the other reviews here, I assume either people were expecting much more or haven’t gotten out much. ‘Kitchen staff entirely Mexicano’ — really? A NYC restaurant with a Hispanic kitchen staff? No way!

This place makes a damn good breakfast! Whenever I order an omelette and homefries anywhere else, I’m disappointed because they are never as good as good old fashioned Royal. And their delivery is hot, fresh, and efficient. Thanks guys!

More diner than restaurant… My now defunct bf was a diner fellow. We sat in a booth and we ate. My tuna melt on rye had cheese melted on the rye instead of the tuna of which I was not a fan. The canned pickle was fresh though. My ex bfs tripple decker was fresh though a tad dry. His cappucino with whipped cream tasted like Mexican hot chocolate with a shot of coffee and it was strangely delicious. Nice booths and friendly locals.

Wow have been here on a number of occasions for breakfast. It has to be one of the best, in the neighborhood. The owner or boss sometimes looks at me kind of funny when I sit at the counter by the pass. Because I like to see what is going on at the grill. Especially when you see a foot high pile of bacon sitting unrefrigerated in a 8 inch pie pan. That’s why I avoid pork. Not all pork. Eggs over easy = excellent Home Fries extra well done = excellent Turkey Sausage = v v v good Tea with a lemon wedge = hot and good Whole Wheat toast dry = v v v good The main part of this meal, is when they cook the home fries just like the way I ordered them, extra well done. They could use some onions and peppers though. You get two thumbs up even though it cost just as much as Manhattan prices. $ 8.10 total. Not including the tip. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
