Monique Nieves is to be avoided at all costs. Unprofessional and untrustworthy. I would never recommend this agent even to my worst enemy. You’ve been warned.

Last year we went through their broker Monique Nieves to rent an apartment in Park Slope. Monique was friends with the seller and at the time, we did not know that. She talked the apartment up and left some vital information out to complete the rental.
The landlord kept part of our security deposit for normal wear and tear to the apartment. Our landlord would not let us do a walkthrough with her prior to us leaving, giving us no chance to review anything that needed to be fixed or further cleaned. There was no itemized bill explaining any damage and/​or costs, just $ 500 taken from our deposit. Needless to say, we took our landlord to small claims court.
Monique, the RENTER’S AGENT (as she signed on our lease) was our landlord’s witness in the case and went completely against her contract in support of the seller. To me and my husband, this came as a shock. A real estate agent should act as an impartial agent OR identify themselves as a seller’s agent or dual agent. She did neither.
Monique Nieves proves herself to be a very unprofessional agent. She has personal stakes in her rentals and helps her friends out by lying to the renters.
STAY AWAY.

I found a listing for a studio in Gowanus on Padlister and texted the contact person named in the listing. Got a quick reply (I texted at around 9pm and got a response by 10pm) from Whitney at Rapid Realty in Dumbo. She worked quickly with me to get a viewing of the apartment (despite the current tenant’s total inflexibility) and was available by text basically ²⁴⁄₇.
Monique (the broker) and Whitney helped me negotiate terms with the landlord and definitely tried their hardest to get me in the place as fast as possible (I am new to New York and a recent hire to my company, so we all had to work together to show the landlord I am reliable). You would think I was paying a broker’s fee… but I wasn’t.
Awesome service, friendly people, would definitely recommend working with Rapid Realty Dumbo.
