Ian from Piton Mechanical came to install my Nest thermostat on a Saturday, which is always great. I am really glad I used Piton because they are HVAC specialists rather than electricians, which, it turns out, is a good thing as installing the Nest turned out to be more complicated than just reconnecting the wires. I highly recommend them.

I have been using piton for about 4 years.
My contact there, Jones has always been courteous, knowledgeable, helpful and AFFORDABLE !
I have used them for my home and business.
They have done everything from a basic checkup and filter change to installing a completely new unit.

UPDATE 11÷16÷15: The team at Piton have to be CHASED for them to come and finish the work if it isn’t a one-​day job. We had an ongoing issue that they did not properly finish, or would half-​start and then promise to come back (and then never come back) that has taken from the first review in August until mid-​November to resolve. I have called Piton perhaps 20 times and left a dozen voicemails in order to try to get them to come back over the course of a few visits. I don’t think it ever would have gotten fixed if I hadn’t been as diligent about keeping on top of these guys as I was.

Our air conditioning compressor was broken in the apartment we just purchased… in the middle of August. I had two opinions come to assess it prior to getting the recommendation for Piton from our building. The first came in with a recommendation to replace the entire condenser for an estimate of over $ 5K and the recommendation that we replace the furnace as well. The second came with a recommendation to replace the condenser to match our R22 (a refrigerant that is being phased out and in 5 years will not be produced for sale anymore) at over $ 3K (when the R22 machine costs $ 1200).
Piton came back quickly with a range of options, including a replacement onto a new refrigerant that would be compatible with our existing system for much less than the other guys.
Pros:
— They didn’t require us to be home for the installation once they were let onto the roof.
— They were much more affordable and very good at communicating. Ian picks up the phone almost every time you call.
— They followed-​up on the work to see how we were doing and make sure it was to our satisfaction. When it wasn’t the first time, they sent someone first thing the next day to look over the work and adjust.
Cons:
— The first time they came, because we weren’t home to test the system right after the repairman was finished, we discovered air wasn’t cooling enough when we got home. So we had to get someone to come back, but it was resolved after that.
Overall, would recommend them and use them again! Fair prices, easy to work with, and good communicators.

Piton installed a 3 ton Midea mini split system for us. Good price (under 5k) and the unit performed perfectly under difficult conditions this summer. Prompt service and very professional.
