A Canarsie staple. This spot probably shares its life essence with the very earth Canarsie stands on. Probably the best pizza for the next few square miles but hey I was raised here so maybe I am biased. I would just stick to the pizza however. If I were you wouldn’t stretch my neck to come here cause the L train be bugging and will make you its bitch. But if you escape the sinister clutches of the L train and end up in Canarsie for some unknown reason, I wouldn’t hesitate to get a slice.

I don’t know if you can find better pizza in Canarsie, Original has been here for as long as I can remember and it has always been good. There are other places like Franks that could have given Original a run for their money if only they hadn’t changed ownership. I so happy that I can get good pizza without having to hop on a train… though I do like having options. Original is and will always be dear to both my heart and stomach. Though is has been a while since I’ve had a Original slice I hope nothing has changed. With that being said my rating is based on what I remember Original as being years ago.

Trash!!! Dont waste your time, Brooklyn has to have a better Pizza joint. I have had such better Pizza than this place. I came here with a friend on 4÷9÷16 and aside from the cool shiny cash register in the middle of the Kitchen this place was A dump and the pizza reminded me of card board but tasted like Chucky Cheese’s ratty pizza. I honestly hope that New York City can do better than this if not, CINCINNATIOHIOHASYOUBEATBY A MILLLLLLLONMILESINTHEPIZZAWORLD ! Please dont waste your time. Again and again, Mr Jones

I would rate the pizza here there and a half stars. I had a regular slice with my usual fixings(red chili flakes and granulated garlic). The crust was good, but a little too doughy for my liking. There wasn’t much of a crisp or char. The sauce was good — no complaints there. I felt there was a little too much cheese and that it was too gooey. Each bite had long, runny strings of gooey cheese; I know some folks prefer this, but I do not. The pizzeria is quite spacious with plenty of seating. There is ample parking on Avenue L.

Finally back here again! Me and my dad decided to go get lunch here before we went home. Pizza tasted better than before. The place was still pretty clean. Friendly staff. This is the only piece of Old Canarsie left. Hasn’t changed a bit.

At the suggestion of 2 people, I decided to order 2 pies from Originals for my daughters sleepover. I’m new to the Canarsie area and the only pizza I’ve ordered was from Pizza Hut. I wanted New York pizza so I ordered from here. The price of a large pie initially caught me off guard. $ 17 for a plain pizza? I pay less than that in Brooklyn Heights… But I figured I had heard so many good things about this pizza, I’d try it anyway. The pizza arrived in about 45 minutes. And it was disgusting!!! I have a weakness for New York pizza. I can never eat one slice. I often find myself devouring 3 slices. I barely made it thru the one slice from Originals and I wasn’t even tempted to have another. Just bad. Maybe they were having a bad day, but I’m turned off. I’ll never order from them again.

garlic knots here are dumb cheap. $ 1.75 for 6 of em? sign me up! the pepperoni pizza is the bubbling hot and greasy pizza you expected. I didn’t love my grandma’s pizza, but that’s okay. cash only spot and its décor brings you back to the 80s, early 90s.

I gave this place a one because I couldn’t give it a zero! I ordered a pizza and an payed with an out of state card since I’m just here for the holidays. After charging my card, they called me back 10 minutes later and told me they have to refund my money because do credit card fraud and that I need a card with the zipcode in the area. I’ve never had an issue with this before so you can imagine my irritation! Plus how come they didn’t tell me this when I put in the order? Whatever I won’t buy from them again! I’m not going to inconvenience myself for a company. The point is for me to do little as possible or else I’ll make my own damn pizza!

I have been a customer for almost a decade and I will admit the pizza(though good) isn’t as delicious as it used to be. The sauce is not as flavorful and it’s usually inadequate and the crust is borderline cardboard. A usual favorite used to be «extra cheese half pepperoni/half sausage», now I’ve found their chicken caesar salad slices to be the front runner.

Had to get my NY pizza fix before heading back to NC. Short wait time with courteous service. Also, sexy people tip.

I had time to kill awaiting the arrival of a flight at JFK, so rather than sit in a cell phone lot, I pulled off the Belt and headed into Canarsie, Brooklyn. After a walkaround on Canarsie Pier, I headed into town looking for some real Brooklyn pizza. Original Pizza was nearby on Avenue L, and I found a parking space almost directly in front. It was a pretty big place with plenty of sitting room and a large working kitchen behind the glass counter. I ordered two plain slices and a Cherry Coke and waited for the reheat to be ready. The slices were large with an excess of mozza oozing over the edges. The crust was firm and crunchy, although not overly tasty. There was a constant oil drip from overuse of an olive oil finish and the sweating cheese. It wasn’t the best introduction to the home of the pizza pie, although it was good enough for a local parlor in the neighborhood. Perhaps a freshly made pie would showcase their talent more than a 2 slice and drink special, but this was a cornerstone of their menu, and should represent their core competence in pizza making. Don’t let pies sit around for hours, and the result could be improved. Staff was fine. Place was clean enough. Price was about right @ $ 6.50 for the meal. Wouldn’t hurry back. Loved the double parking thing. That thing could get ugly.

Amazing pizza, finally feels like a proper new york slice. The toppings were fresh, and that crust woah. The crust is soft, chewy, perfect. Go there, get yourself a slice, I had the cheese, you won’t regret it.

The pizza is good. The crust is baked to perfection and the cheese isn’t overwhelming. It’s a neighborhood fixture and I’ve been coming here forever. Ingredients are fresh and its tasty as I said prior. Swing by and try a slice or two(because who can really only eat one slice)

Mama Mia that’s good pizza!!! Had cheese pizza, rice balls, garlic twists and the pepperoni twist, all were awesome. True authentic New York pizza it will not disappoint. Restaurant itself inside was very neat and clean and the staff was extremely friendly. Had some Italian ice some Creamsicle and Spumoni. They were all very good especially the spumoni, it was delicious. Most definitely will return and if you haven’t tried the place it is well worth a visit.

The horrendous customer service at Original’s pizza outweighs any possible positives. There are too many pizzerias in NY to support a shop that does not strive to maintain faithful customers or at least provide a sincere solution. Today would be my last time ordering.

The cheese and vegetarian are both great. The crust is so crunchy, which I love, but the pizza is kinda greasy. It’s a very old-school and no-frills spot. There’s plenty of seating in here. The guys behind the counter are really friendly. The New York Times wrote about this place in 2009, although that’s not why I went here. I just happened to see it on the wall.

I’ve been living in Canarsie since the early 90s. So I’ve been a patron of this restaurant for a while. The pizza is insanely delicious. Service is always quick, even when there is a line. I’ve gotten delivery a handful of times and I’ve never had any issue. This place will always be one of my favorite pizza parlors in Brooklyn.

I don’t get the hype with this place. 4.5 stars is an extremely strong rating. Especially concerning a pizza shop in the city famous for it’s pizza. Best pizza in all of NY is an extremely bold claim This is an average slice, not particularly cheesy or extraordinarily flavorful. It’s not one of those slices where the cheese is going to stretch and drip off the slice(like Margherita Pizza on Jamaica ave). It’s pretty much what id expect from any pizza shop in the city for a basic 2.50 slice. The reviews would lead me to believe this is some specialty shop that uses the best ingredients and has a seasoned antique coal oven. The slice was indistinguishable from any slice I can get in any borough at any old pizza shop. This is one of those rare occasions where I completely disagree with a rating. 9⁄10 times I can agree with the rating a place has but in this case I’m dumb founded, 4.5 stars is way to high for what I just ate. There’s nothing wrong with this pizza but there’s absolutely nothing special about it either.

This was our family go to pizza place! I lived a few blocks away and everyone in my family grew up on this pizza. I usually swing by for a slice when I’m in Canarsie. I love the fact that people hold this place in their hearts. This is my old neighborhood, Brooklyn!
