Great deal, great neighborhood sushi. For the price and location, this is where I would go every time for sushi. Friendliest service from a sushi restaurant, especially on Avenue U. The special rolls and creative with nice presentations. Very clean place. I haven’t gotten sick from this place(fingers crossed! I hope I never will)

They have a BOGO on Special Rolls and Appetizers which is cool(dine in only). A lot of the special rolls I’ve ordered aren’t all that great though besides the Dancing Eel Roll. Service is good but a little slow when it’s busy, which is expected. This place is average in my opinion, but everyone is different. I’d recommend this place to others just to give this place a try.

They have really fresh fish and good sushi here. I am in love with their spicy salmon roll and I always get at least one roll of that everyone I come here. It’s just that good. They have buy one get one free for their appetizers and also for their special rolls. My family and I usually get the BOGO appetizer. There are a lot of choices to choose from. There’s the salmon tuna cracker, it’s salmon sashimi, tuna sashimi with avocado and their sauces over a wasabi flavored cracker. I always get that as well. There’s also the spicy squid salad and some other good ones. Their sashimi are pretty big pieces, however the sushi rolls vary sometimes. Sometimes big pieces, and other times not too good looking and small. Their cut rolls are $ 3.00 each so it’s a pretty good price. The service here is good, the waitresses fill our tea cups often and are friendly. Everyone says bye and thank you whenever we leave and walk out. No other place does that. This is what good customer service means. There are times when they have new desserts and give to us to try for free. Been here too many times to remember because it’s near where I live. I will continue to eat here and get my craving for spicy salmon roll satisfied(which is all the time and they’re the only one who does it right).

Definitely not a place that I would try again, we have been ordering from this place once a week for well over a year and today the food, particularly the chicken was HORRIBLE. Its hard to describe but both the Teriyaki Chicken and the Katsu Chicken tasted alike, the meat was soft but yet when held up to the light it was obvious that it was cooked. We placed both meats in the microwave to kill the taste but surprisingly the meat only tasted worse. I’m not saying it wasn’t chicken but it didn’t taste like any chicken I’ve ever eaten. As for the rest of the food, we nibbled on it, but the meal was ruined with thoughts of what else could be wrong with the other food. Just threw the menus away. WILLDEFINITLEYNOTORDERFROMTHISPLACEAGAIN. p. s. and we called to say the chicken tasted funny, they wanted us to send a picture. Taste and look are two different things. I guess they’ll notice when we begin ordering from their competition at 1777 Ocean Ave.

The rice was slightly sour and squishy. There was more avocado than the sushi fish. I was disappointed.

When I lived in Brooklyn, we would frequent this place probably twice a month. Their buy one get one free special rolls are always delish! Service is quick and attentive when you dine in. When I am in the neighborhood visiting my parents I usually place an order on GrubHub to pick up to take back home. My go to orders here are the Omiya roll and oyako don.

The man who greeted only«Westerners» but not Asian people, I believe he is the owner. Such bias behavior. Sushi was O. K not authentic because they are from Malaysia not Japan.

I usually order as to-go. They have great deals buy one special, get one special roll free! So I end up getting two rolls for the price of one. There is plenty of street parking. Staff is nice, and if you order as delivery, it comes fast. Their banzai roll is my favorite thing to get.

I am being very generous by giving this place a 2 star rating. Now, I know that this place is a neighborhood favorite but I’ve avoided it ever since they had a roach infestation. However, my hair stylists really like this place, it has been over 5 years since they’re roach infestation, I was starving, it was late and I was looking at another 4 hours for my hair appointment so I decided to order with them. Now when we got our food they didn’t give us any soy sauce, luckily my hair stylists are super Asian so they keep soy sauce in their fridge LOL. They did mention that this place frequently forgets their soy sauce a lot which is why they keep soy sauce in the back. We also requested for our rolls to be separated as it was 3 different orders for 3 different people but they didn’t do that either so we had to separate it by ourselves onto the lids. On top of that the rolls weren’t rolled very tightly and it started to come apart on me making it very difficult to eat and it was painfully average tasting, not the worst sushi I’ve had but not the best. The nicest thing I say about their food is that it didn’t make me sick. I don’t see myself personally coming back here but if I have a long hair appointment and this is what they want to get I’d probably place an order with them.

I think this will be my go to place when I’m in Brooklyn now. The sushi is SO fresh and delicious, the waitstaff is wonderful and so polite, and you really cannot go wrong with their party plates.

Unless you speak Japanese, don’t go here cause when you speak English they always get your order wrong. It’s convenient for me but not worth the aggravation.

Very disappointed. Picked up order — chicken teriyaki was really bad. I ordered Ten Don. When I got home I saw shrimp tempura. I called and the lady was trying to convince me it was Ten Don. I’ve eaten this in other restaurants so I know they didn’t have the right dish. My daughter’s sushi rolls were good though.

Love this place. Talk about deals. They have a range of sushi specials. And I love their bubble tea! My sister totally fell in love the Jasmine Green Tea Bubble Tea. We order the Spicy Dancing Kani Roll, American Roll, Dancing Eel Roll and the Tokyo Roll. All delicious. They have great service. Very attentive. Definitely recommend this place

Cheap Japanese food that keeps its great quality intact. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bento box for dinner and my girlfriend ordered three rolls of sushi. The bento box was around 15 dollars and contained a lot of food. Rice, white meat chicken, veggies, dumplings, a California roll, fried sweet potato, fried shrimp, miso soup and a salad. All of which was very very yummy. My girlfriend ordered three rolls of sushi, all looking very very delicious. The atmosphere is nice and clean, friendly staff and great music.

Hidden neighborhood gem! Not expensive, clean and fresh. Tuna/salmon crackers are to die for. All special appetizers are pretty good. Haven’t been disappointed yet. Giving this 4 stars bc the place itself doesn’t look like anything special. The food though is a 5 in the neighborhood.

I visited this place a few times. I am not a big fan of the fancy rolls, only because it’s all smothered with sauces. I like the classic rolls, so I can taste the fish, and in case if it’s not fresh, it won’t be hidden with sauces. The classic rolls are great. I also tried a few of there fancy rolls, and it was ok. Reason why this review didn’t make it to be a 3 star is because i wanted salmon and onion roll, and they charge an extra $ 2.00, saying is their policy?(Policy to gauge?). Their salmon and avocado roll is $ 3.00, and I ask if it’s ok to replace the avocado with onion. I will understand if I was asking for a more premium or expensive ingredient, but since when does a onion cost more than a avocado??? They will need to use almost a quarter of a avocado to make the roll, oppose to few slices of a onion.

Quality and quantity are the factors here. Salmon skin hand rolls are unique, theirs was pore at best. Large portions of crunchies small portion of actual fish. Food was clean and fresh; not sushi level*

Sometime their sushi is amazing and sometime it make me fell like it was made by an amature. Th thing I that when you order you just don’t know if you are about to get the fresh and delicious one or the one that make you wonder if this is the same place where you once had the best sushi you ever had. Based on the last time I was there, 2 stars would be enough. But when I think about all the delicious sushi I had there, they deserve a lot more. I will give them three, and I will visit at least once more. If the quality of the sushi will remain the same, it will be the last time. Promise to update. To be continue…

I have to say the food was way better than the first impression i got. From the outside, the store looked like any other small sushi shop. We ordered a calamari salad and tuna pizza to share. The calamari was soft and tender unlike other stores where it sometimes tasted like rubber. The tuna pizza was just a slice of fish on a paratha bread. Then came the actual meal. I thought the bagel roll sounded really cool so i ordered that. It consisted of smoked salmon thats deep fried on the outside. They have a lot of things that are BOGO such as the appetizers and sushi rolls which are a great deal. For dessert i had a green tea mochi which came out to two pieces per order. Such a delicious meal and such good service too! The waiter refilled my tea at least four times in an hour :)

If you love sushi, bring your appetite. Between the sushi menu and the prices, you will eat until you feel like imploding. They also have bubble tea! Their rolls start at $ 3 each and their specialty rolls(range from $ 8-$ 20) are buy one get one free! I’ve been coming here for over the decade and support every time I’m in town.

We tried a few local sushi spots and luckily we tried a new one. Omiya has fantastic food, excellent prices and fast delivery. They are polite and give you enough chop sticks, napkins, soy sauce and all other amenities you need for a night in. The rolls were fresh, my kids inhaled the udon soup and the Kani salad was great. No complaints and only rave reviews. Well worth trying!
