I work nearby and order lunch at least 3 out of 5 days a week from this place. It is a «what you see is what you get» type of deli. The quality of the food isn’t spectacular sometimes, but the taste and portions are great. The staff is very friendly and polite, especially the old guy at the front counter. The delivery is super fast and the specials change almost every day, so you have a nice variety and don’t have to always order the same old thing. One particular item that stands out is their French toast for breakfast. Best French toast I’ve ever had anywhere. Overall, Number 1 Deli is quick, convenient, friendly, and I would highly recommend it.

From LA. Best breakfast since we left on drive trip here 12 days ago. Good, reasonably priced, busy, fun to watch passersby in window counter. Homemade hash browns, good scrambled, over mediums were perfect, good coffee w/steamed milk. Great location kiddy-corner from LaQuinta on 3rd. Been watching people & deliveries for last 3 days, so thought we’d try. Glad we did.

As I work around the area, this is the place I usually get my lunch, cuz I love sandwiches and heros. Price is so way cheap on sandwiches and they prepare different kind of food everyday, american or mexican food. You can eat-in or take-out. No waitress service, but you can grab a beer :)

I signed up for Unilocal just so I could write this review. I consider myself a non picky eater. I usually don’t criticize food or get angry when food is bad. But in this instance my food was terrible! I ordered a simple pastrami sandwich and the meat was so rubbery that I couldn’t even get my teeth through it. I had to pull the meat out of the bread and munch on it for a bit. The sweet potato fries that I got with it looked like they were burnt(almost black) but they were somehow soggy(I don’t even know how that’s possible). My office just moved into this area and one thing I know is that I will not be ordering from Number One Deli for lunch anymore!

It’s a big deli, in Park Slope/Gowanus sector of Brooklyn. The place has a lot of tables(most of which were empty). I ordered a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. The steak was rubbery and mad oily/greasy. It should’ve been called a Philty Sandwich cause that’s what it tasted like, filthy disgusting .I had to throw away half of it. The onions were not fresh and it gave it a funky taste. I thought this place would serve fresh stuff but it miserably failed. I should’ve ordered a tuna fish sandwich. Nevermind. Oh well, #1 Deli is #0 in my heart.
