Noah’s Ark Veterinary Practice

My only issue is that he is very pushy with selling his own med’s and merchandise. It is a violation of NYS law to «push» a patient to buy from a vet practice or any specific pharmacy.
Owner should think of it realistically. How would you feel if you own doctor tried to sell you stuff? It can cause subjective bias even when not intentional.
For example, you sell Forti flora and try to sell it anytime you offer a probiotic. But for IBD cats this product should be avoided because of animal digest. But since you don’t sell other brands you ALWAYS recommend Forti flora. This means you sell a product that might not be the best for the animal simply because you have it in stock and haven’t investigated others. It is an unintentional bias.
Then there is the intentional bias. You sell needles, monojet at 50 cents each. Patient can get Terumo needles at 8 cents a needle if they buy a box of 100. Terumo needles are SUPERIOR and have a higher flow rate with the same number and they hurt less but vet sells Monojet because they cost him less and he wants to make a bigger profit selling an inferior product. This is intentional and unethical.

I shopped around for a while before I found a place to perform my dog’s TPLO surgery. Noah’s Ark did it for $ 1−2K less than the other quoted hospitals. I also found out that their surgeon, Dr. Pachianna, travels to various hospitals to perform surgeries. At least one of the hospitals that I called uses him too, and they charged $ 1K more for his services.
The recovery itself isn’t going super smooth and we’ve had to put more money into it. I think that has more to do with my dog’s knee than a poorly executed surgery though. I don’t put blame on them.
They’re really nice to work with. Dr. Pachianna even answers texts!

Noah’s Ark was recommended by a majority of people living in marine park so I didn’t hesitate to bring Skye for a checkup.
From the moment I walked in I felt the warm and caring staff really did care and that put me at ease.

I no longer have a pet, but needed to share my thoughts about Noah’s Ark and how much their kindness and knowledge meant to me when I did. I had my cat Taz for 14 years. I’d been to other vets who never felt like the right fit (and were a bit cold) until I met the crew at Noah’s Ark. I loved walking in for my visits and seeing all the animals they had taken in or have for the night, running around in the office. Animals are part of the atmosphere at Noah’s Ark and treated with love, and not an annoyance. At some point, my poor boy became ill and stayed that way. It hurt seeing him so sick, but seeing Dr. Weinstock care for him as I did made each visit less difficult. When my boy finally crossed that Rainbow Bridge, we cried in each other’s arms and she gave me a clay paw print with his name above it. A week later I received a sympathy card that everyone signed in the office. I will never forget this kindness. Our pets become so much more than pets. They are family and Noah’s Ark understands that. When I am ready for a new friend, I will no doubt return to Noah’s Ark.

I have been a client of Noah’s Ark for many years. I shouldn’t say client because they treat my babies like family. Dr.‘s Abraham, Weinstock, and Ford and all of their support staff are extremely knowledgable and compassionate. I’ve been through everything from simple check ups to surgery to euthanasia with them, and they treat my cats with the utmost respect. They always offer alternatives if a treatment is needed. I am surprised by some of the reviews as my experiences have been nothing but praiseworthy. You are in good hands with the entire staff.

Color me completely shocked! I’m incredibly surprised at the reviews I see here, especially because they reflect just about as much of an opposite experience from mine as possible!
I brought a dog into their office last week with AMA Animal Rescue. They do so much work with this amazing rescue, so right there off the bat you know that they are concerned for the wellbeing of animals and not just the money! The dog I brought in was incredibly matted, we thought she just needed a grooming… but as soon as the vet saw her, it all changed. She had a massive tumor on her belly. The vet and the vet techs were incredibly compassionate when dealing with us and the poor dog. One week later, I just picked her up after she had extensive surgery and other care.
The vet and technician took plenty of time with me to explain all of her medication and other needs. More time than any other veterinarian has ever taken with me before! They all knew who the dog was, what her habits and special needs were… everyone, including the front desk guy were so nice and caring!
And just another note… it’s ironic that all the reviews here say that this office is just in it for the money. I was waiting in the lobby when a man came out with his dog. He specifically told the guy at the front desk how much he appreciated the vet there because they didn’t oversell him on things he needed to do for his dog! He said «she’s real and considerate. She told me that some of the things I wanted to have done were unnecessary and too expensive!»
It’s unfortunate that people really only write reviews and reach out when they’ve had a bad experience or have negative feelings… I would definitely bring my own dogs here if I lived closer and appreciate all the work they’ve done with the rescue!

If you love your animals stay away from this place. It’s not worth it.

After explaining to them the situation they told me to go to the E.R. on my dime.

The Vet seems completely unprofessional. Cares more about making money from your visit than taking care of animals. I should not be continued to be sold different drugs and accessories every 5 minutes.
ALSO side note — be aware you have to come exactly on time or you will receive extremely rude treatment.

Dear Owner. Please learn that you have went into your profession to care for animals not make money off people who love theirs. If you love animals, then retrain your whole staff.

Noah’s Ark is callous in their treatment of dogs and their owners. It is apparent that they are in the veterinary business for money only. It is not for their love of animals.
My puppy had been coming to Noah’s Ark since the first week I got her. When she was just over a year old I came home from work and noticed she was very sick. I didn’t know what was wrong but I knew she was sick. I called Noah’s Ark and it was 30 minutes before they closed. I live 10 minutes away and they refused to let me bring my puppy in because the «doctors have to get ready to go».
I was rejected and took my puppy to VERG and she had to undergo major operation. Her kidney had to be removed.
A good vet will not turn a sick animal away especially during business hours. But an exceptional vet will see your furry friend even after hours when there is an emergency involved. There are exceptional vets in town. Noah’s Ark is not one. They only care about taking your money caring for animals is not the priority.

Great service here I brought my guinea pig in he wasn’t feeling well I have no pet insurance or had ever been to vet with him before. Called that day and they fit us in. We waited a bit but this was bc they were very busy with dogs and cats. They were all kind and accepted my Unilocal voucher for the visit –check-​up starts at $ 50. Dr. Abraham is very kind and gives his honest professional opinion. You can tell the staff is very personable and knows their customers and their pets. They were very gentle with my guinea pig and took X-​rays. Unfortunately my pet was sick so we had to put him to sleep they provide this service as well and are very professional about it. Nelly gave us time to say goodbye and figure out what we wanted to do. They really are such a great place they even sent us a condolences card. That was a nice touch and showed they cared. Perfect that it’s in the neighborhood. Pets are a member of the family and Noah’s Ark knows it.

On ⁸⁄₂ a cat we had recently adopted died suddenly. We took him here to be cremated and we were so upset we just handed over a credit card. The next day we noticed that we had been charged $ 175 for cremation and figured it must be an error since our elderly cat had been cremated at VERG 2 months earlier for $ 80. I called and the person, don’t know her name so will just call her Bambi, said the amount was correct. I was amazed and said it was way too much and Bambi launched into a monolog about what a professional and caring way the procedure was done, blah blah, An odd statement since they only hold the body for the crematorium to pick up. It was hard to get a word in but finally I pointed out what Verg charged and her excuse was that Verg is a hospital and they are a small private blah blah. I said that a vet in Park Slope charges $ 80 and Bambi replied that it was not in their area and their prices were in line with local vets. Bambi then returned to her script that they followed all legal guidelines, were respectful on handling the body blah blah. I asked her if she was implying that everyone else used a can of gasoline and a book of matches and hung up.
The next day I called three vets in «their» area and found that though Noah’s Ark cost for a basic cat checkup was about the same, their cremation cost was way out of line. Two vets charged $ 135 and one charged $ 100. I think they are taking advantage of the grief people are feeling when their pet dies, knowing that is a perfect time to overcharge. What disgusting ghouls!

The Doctors here are very thorough. I really didn’t know what was wrong with my cat and you know they don’t talk so it is hard to figure out what’s wrong when the only symptoms are sleeping and loss of appetite. I mean really, it could be anything. The doctor made a list of test we could run with the prices next to each. It can get pretty expensive but they don’t push you to run all the test nor do they make you feel guilty for saying no to any test. We decided to go one step at a time, we started with a blood test. That showed us that the cat had some kidney problems. We also chose to do an x-​ray and urine test. They gave my cat some antibiotics and some fluids. As soon as we got home, I could see a big difference. She was lively and hungry.
I like this place, the people there love animals and have always treated my pets well. What I really like are the dogs roaming through the halls like they own the place.

Some time ago, I found a kitten in the street and he had a wound on it’s abdomen. I took him to Noah’s Ark in Brooklyn. I have gone there many times with my very large dog to see the vet and for boarding and had been pleased. They treated the kitten and after a few days sent him home stating he had a touch of diahrea. He was sent home with a liquid to put in his mouth 2x a day and low-​residue food.
Well they did not tell me it would foam up in his mouth. He would spit it out immeditately. After a few days of struggling to treat him, I took him back and told them to keep him there and treat him. I picked him up 2 weeks later and he still had diarrhea. I was so pissed! I wasted so much money (just over $ 1,000) between boarding and medical bills, to only bring home a sick kitten again.
I ended up having to go to another vet. This vet was very honest and understood that I had already spent a lot of money and offered a cheaper and easier solution. They gave my little kitty a shot and some pills. That was 100% easier to give him. He slowly got better. Wished I would have brought him there first. Could not imagine why Noah’s Ark did not give me a pill, especially after I complained many many times about the liquid. For this reason, I would never go back or recommend.

Good for basic stuff, shots, and the «routine». If it’s surgery or something major is required, I suggest you look elsewhere.

This review is based on an experience I had back in the summer of 2009.
My then 7-​year-​old previously very healthy Persian cat was suffering from overheating. My brilliant former roommate decided the best thing to do on the hottest day of that summer was to close all the windows, turn off all the fans, and sweat. Which is exactly what my cat did. When my regular vet couldn’t see him immediately, I frantically searched the internet for other vets close by. I found Noah’s Ark, called immediately, and was told to come right in.
The receptionists were great. I literally collapsed crying right in front of the door, convinced my cat was going to die. If I recall correctly, I didn’t have to wait very long.
The 1 star comes from the interaction with the doctor. I can’t for the life of me remember his name, but he was condescending, rude, and when I opted not to do xrays (which I had just done a few months before), he basically told me my cat was going to die from being overheated and that I was a bad pet owner. Needless to say, that did not happen. All my cat needed was some fluids and a few medications, and he was perfectly fine. I took him to my regular vet for a follow-​up, and he couldn’t believe they wanted to do xrays for something that simple, especially since I have previously worked in vet hospitals and knew exactly what was going on.
It’s clear: all they care about is money.

ALL I COULD SAY IS RIDICULOUS! They seem all nice, friendly, and caring at first but then they start telling you, your pet needs this, and that, and all this unneeded stuff! brought my dog in to check on his diabetes and after his 3^rd visit DR. WEINSTOCK decided to give him 10 medications in under 5 hours!!! How do you do that to a 10 pound yorkie?!! SHE OVERDOSED HIM!!! that’s right! his little body couldn’t handle all those medications and it poisoned him! needless to say, the 3^rd visit ended up me taking my poor dog to the hospital because he couldn’t breathe without an oxygen tank! his tongue turned blue! My poor dog couldn’t end up breathing by himself because of the overdose!!! R.i.p Charlie

Horrendous, insensitive customer service. My review is only based on phone conversations I had with the practice regarding my cat who has been showing some distressful symptoms, most likely due to her still adjusting to a recent move to a new apartment, but nonetheless I wanted to make sure and she is due for her yearly check up in 2 weeks so I was hoping to do it early. The women who called me back to confirm my appointment tomorrow, which I informed her I had to cancel due to work, the women was very insensitive, rude, condescending and extremely unhelpful. She was just simply a dreadful human being who I would never allow next to my cat! Yes, my cat has been showing some distressful symptoms such as a greasy coat and more dandruff (she’s an indoor, 4 year american short hair) and some regurgitating of her food which I assume is because she has been eating it extremely fast, but she is also still adjusting as I said, but aside from that she has no other symptoms, using the bathroom fine, good energy, not hiding, etc,. But nonetheless, I have researched the internet, I have talked to various friends who are vet techs and a friend who is a veterinarian and both advised that it is most likely an adjustment period still but to still take her to the vet, just to be sure, so I am still extremely worried and will be making an appointment with her regular vet as soon as possible (tomorrow morning). But what I did not need, as a possible new patient at this vet clinic is be talked down to and berated by a complete stranger who did not even care to get all the facts down before she started to berate me.
This is a disgustingly run place which I assume only care about the money.

The nicest staff around. The techs are all helpful, one more then the other. The woman that greets me at the front is so sweet and always 100% with everything she says. I just started buying food at the other location (new/​old location). Also friendly and helpful. Wonderful young girl training dogs helped me there. Love this place!

As my dog Rascal does not like men, I had to find a female vet, we tried Dr. Abraham but Rascal just kind of growled at him and he wouldn’t come near her, not that I blame him. She loves Dr. Lori, she’s kind and gentle, she gives us options and I don’t feel like she’s trying to rip us off. I would highly recommend Noah’s Ark, Particularly Dr. Lori Winestock.

They don’t know what they are doing. Explained the costs and took several blood tests to see why she was throwing up. Did a few x-​rays and had to put her to sleep for that-​after I told them she would lie still if I held her.
After all this they simply said, :we don’t know why she is throwing up: Suggested she stay a few days on IV with more charges.
I took her home and fed her water-​she was fine the next day–

It’s time to update my review of Noah’s Ark, our vets for our three kitties, two of which were adopted from there. The staff has been kind and careful when handling our cats, and equally warm when dealing with us. We feel very confident in the experienced vets Dr Abraham & Dr Weinstock, and we also like the one who started a couple of years ago out just of medical school. Everyone is helpful and willing to explain in detail when we need more information. Yes, the fees can add up to a lot for multiple pets but understand that this is excellent private care, not a charity shelter. We tend to keep the well care visit to a time of year when we can best afford it.
