Absolutely rude, inappropriate «business» behavior.
I walked in to see if there were cars available right away. Yes, there were.
How much would it be for a car? Way higher than it should have been, so I offered a bit less.
Nope. That’s the price.
Well, I need this car, so ok, I will take it.
Sorry, no cars available now.
Um, yeah.

i gave this service a few tries because it is so close to my new apartment. every time has been awful. one time i was going to the airport and the driver didn’t get out to help me with my bag. another time i was struggling with my cat to goto columbia waterfront and the driver rudely asked me how to get there (i have no idea… i don’t drive). it took us 30 minutes driving around red hook before he finally pulled out his gps and made ME enter the address, even though i was struggling with a very aggitated cat by that time. awful awful awful service. don’t use them!

I wish there was a «minus 5 stars» choice, but I’ll have to make due with this extremely generous single star.
I have never, EVER, in my decade plus experience living in New York, had a worse customer service experience with a vendor. I know car services are tricky to run and customers put enormous demands on the drivers. I get it. I am not one of those people. I always tip 20%, usually $ 2 on top of that to round up the bill. I am polite pleasant and do not bark out directions like the old lady in the opening scene of «Stripes». I’d like to think I’m the kind of customer that a livery cab driver would enjoy carting about every now and then. No cad, am I.
Which is why I cannot get over how AWFUL and RUDE this service has been! And sadly, it’s 100% not their drivers, who are polite if a bit clueless as times. No, it’s their dispatcher (s) — who are beyond gruff, rude, are nearly impossible to understand… everything you don’t ever desire in a phone conversation, yet more. Frankly, dealings with this person at any given time of day are about as delightful as a pay toilet in a diarrhea ward.
As I was new to the area roughly 6 months ago, I took note of them as my local «go to» business to support and straightaway called them when my pet needed an emergency trip to the vet. I explained that I needed someone ASAP and also noted I had a sick animal in case the driver showed up and balked at animal transport. I was told a car could be there immediately for this emergency. Keep in mind– these clowns have a storefront around the corner from my place. 10 minutes later– and 3 polite but urgent calls to the dispatcher– finally a car drives up and blows past me and my pet carrier. I had to call AGAIN to get them back!
This could have been a one time thing, fine. Except for when they pulled the same stunt when I was on my way to my own birthday party– again, after acting like a jackass on the phone, the dispatcher snapped at me they’d be there in 2 minutes. 15 minutes later no car, and I have the audacity to call to see where they are. More ill-​behaved nonsense. At this point I made a mental note to search out other car services and promptly got drunk at supper and forgot.
Then there was when they assured me they knew how to get my visiting, VERY out of town Mom safely back to her hotel in the city– and about 5 minutes in, the driver turned and asked her for directions.
But the final kicker? I had friends in visiting and called round to get them a car service. The dispatcher asked where they were going and upon hearing it was in Manhattan– HUNG UP ON ME. I called back and asked again, thinking maybe I must have said «Connecticut» by mistake, and was AGAIN HUNG UP ON. So I called back and informed them that they were the worst excuse for a business I had ever been forced by proximity to endure. And now, you get the brunt of my horrid interactions with them to chuckle at.
Do yourself a favor, call the very polite and always dependable Five Star instead: 718−940−0044.
Either that, or attach a greased piece of particle board to a slightly gout-​y Park Slope beagle’s harness. That’s a higher quality choice than New American Car Service any old day.
