Thanks for selling me dry, borderline spoiled grilled chicken. Avoid their prepared foods deli section.

This place has been around since before I was born. It represents the old community that used to be mainly Italian. I used to come here a few days a week after school for over 10 years. Now I still come here every once in a while. The things that keep me from frequenting more often for necessary items are: — limited selection on basic items. Come on, it’s the only non-Asian supermarket around. They need to have better stock. No yeast. No brown sugar. No chocolate chips. No vanilla. Old spices. — sometimes items are expired. They don’t have a very good system for checking that stuff out. — really overpriced. It’s ridiculous what they charge. — limited selection on yogurt. — the worst types of cashiers in the world. They are always rude. They make it their mission to be as rude as possible. They talk over the customers and make it seem like the customers are in the way. Even though it is called MEAT Supreme, their meats are not superior to any of the other options on 86st. The only plus is that there’s no language barrier here unless you don’t speak English. There’s a very limited selection of meats. There’s sometimes organic chicken breast but the price fluctuates. It’s a prepackaged plate too. Every single meat option is grain-fed. There’s no talk about antibiotics use or hormones. It’s just labeled which part of the animal, weight, price, and expiration. But I would like more options. My parents recently bought some beef here and they thought the packaging was deceiving in that the exposed part of the meat looked nice and lean. But once they took out the meat from the wrapping and saw the underside, they saw all the fat that was tucked away. I want some grass-fed pastured options.

Went to get my anniversary dinner. The new fishmonger sold me on fresh lobster instead of frozen– and prepared it for me. Awesome! Thanks so much.

I find myself coming inside to find a nice piece of meat i can cook up with ease and show off on instagram but i just end up taking one pass and leaving disappointed and empty handed. Its a chain however, and i like the meats supreme on Ave U better somehow, maybe because its more italian around there(literally and figuratively).

This is really a 3.5 rating. I want to love this place but a few things keep me from doing so. First of all, the meat selection is wonderful. They carry different types of sausage and cuts of meat that are hard to find outside of a butcher shop. The deli is also wonderful. The deli workers are almost always very friendly and attentive. The deli selection is top notch, the cold cuts always taste fresh(although I am a little disappointed with their roast beef) and the prepared food is above average although somewhat bland. They also have a great selection of bakery items from the local italian bakeries. The grocery section is below par. I can get the essentials but the selection is not great. It is a wonderful place for picking up specialty items like cheeses and pasta and to fill in the gaps during week in-between the major shopping trips, but it would be difficult to get all your shopping done here. The store itself is always clean and well stocked. My only gripe with this location(as well as the 20th Ave location) is with the cashiers. I get that this is a local joint and therefore is somewhat laid back, but the cashiers are straight up rude. I have never seen a group of cashiers use the f-word so loudly among customers in my life. They speak to one another constantly and customers are clearly the second concern after their inappropriate conversations. They rush people along and I have had a few that seem to be intentionally rude. Now I have been in the area for a while and can assure you that I am far more polite than 95% of the people around here so it is not like they are acting this way because I am rude to them, they are just a bunch of unprofessional witches. It’s sad bc the rest of the staff here is wonderful. However, that won’t keep me from shopping here, it is just a gripe of mine.

Nice little Italian deli on 86th street, they have a good selection of meats, pastas, sauces, and other supermarket items. When you get to the back, they have a deli as well. Next to the deli is a wonderful selection of breads. Italian, French baguettes, ciabatta, whole wheat rolls, so many types. Love that. The deli section of course has cold cut sandwiches, and other hot and cold food items in the glass covered area. Some options are better than others, like pasta salads, tuna salad, the grilled chicken… Theres always a huge line of older italian women doing grocery shopping thta’ll last like 6 months. So be prepared to wait.

oh meat supreme you have changed! you used to be my go to spot for meat. The quality of this place has dramatically changed over the years! The one saving grace was their deli section, but that too has gone down hill. They used to have an amazing selection of deli meats but now its just pathetic and over price. I highly recommend taking a ride in to carroll garden and go to Los Paisanos. People there actually know their meat!

This family run business has 4 locations through Brooklyn and have been serving Kings County for over 30 years. With a rumbling in my fat belly, I decided that I wanted a big ol’ hero for lunch. It had been awhile since I had a giant hero, but I called ahead ordered myself their turkey, american cheese, lettuce, tomato, salt and pepper on a fresh hero bread. I was told by the man on the phone, which by the way was extremely nice and helpful, that they also make pizza. Never to be one to turn down a chance to chomp on a slice, I ordered their plain cheese pie(8 slices) for only $ 9.99! First of all the hero was massive! It was wrapped so tightly that it could have been used in a quick game of flag football. I quickly unwrapped that hero and devoured it like I was a competitive eater. The fresh hero bread really added to the hero’s overall presentation. Later that evening I enjoyed the pizza for dinner. It was delicious! The dough was cooked perfectly, thin and a little burnt… just the way I like it. The sauce was sweet and it was covered in fresh mozzarella. This pie was $ 5 cheaper than the guy up the block and 5 times tastier. Definitely check out this, or the other Meat Supreme locations. I usually use the Avenue U locale, but I was in the area and figured why not use a familiar name for my lunch and dinner. I am glad that I did. This old school Italian cooking is what makes living in this part of Brooklyn so damn good.

I like the Avenue U location a little better, but this place still has a great meat and deli section. Parking here can be a little crazy because this is right smack in the middle of 86th street’s shopping district.
