My go to place for Haitian bread and patties. Their patties have a good taste. Sometimes, their flaky crust is served a bit too hard and the filling is skimpy. But it’s good solid Haitian fast food. They make very good cakes also. Well decorated by contemporary standard. Just be patient when you go there and speak to the old lady at the counter politely and she will return your courtesy. If you don’t, she will give you the eye. LOL

I went here on my quest for Haitian patties in NYC. I had the viande, morue, and poulet. I can’t say any of them made Maxine’s my favorite Haitian Bakery. Of the three, I like the Morue best; flavorful salt cod. I definitely like the concept of Haitian Patties, but they could use more filling. The dough is what separates them from Jamaican Patties. The dough goes through a lamination process, I know everyone didn’t go to culinary school so let me explain. After being covered with a layer of fat the dough is folded on itself, rolled out, folded again. This makes the dough flaky like puff pastry and croissants. I’ll definitely give them another try when I’m back in NYC.
