Another one of my favorite spots to go to before a Brooklyn nets game, it’s a fairly small restaurant but I’ve never had a problem grabbing a seat but maybe that’s because I’ve always been here before 7pm on a weeknight, then start you off with some crispy things called baper with a few dipping sauces, I’ve also had the naan which is soft like bread and tasty, for an entrée I had chicken mahkni, it is served with rice, some kind of beans and sauce and veggies on the side, the chicken itself is very tender and is in a creamy tomato based sauce, it was great, I’ve definitely gone here multiple times

Great atmosphere. Great food. Great service. What else can you ask for? Must try: mango lassi(it’s creamy yet you really taste the mango flavor), saag paneer, chicken tikka masala, vegetable samosas and garlic naan. I will be back for sure!

My office on bond st. My friends they never try Indian food. They ask me where they get good Indian food. When I got masala grill by Google I order samosa, saag ponir, aloo gobi, eggplant & chicken tikka masala, naan. I love food but I was little worried what they say. After lunch they are so happy. When they say Indian food is really good. I feel proud as a Indian. Thanks masala grill …

The delivery was on time but the food wasn’t good. It was quite bland and tasted sweet. It has too much oil. The paneer matar barely had any paneer in it. Overall food Needs more flavor

Delivery service was actually fine, but the food was terrible. Bland and over sweet, it tasted nothing like Indian food should. The best parallel I can draw is if the food was a «smoothie king» version of tikka masala or saag paneer… like, thick, heavy and sweet, with a tinge of the color and flavor it should be. I can imagine someone else liking this, but I’ll stick with Dosa Royale, thanks very much.

Bad service — placed order online and restaurant didn’t have courtesy to call to tell me they can’t deliver. I waited an hour and then when I called, they said it’d be another 2 hours at least.

I came here tonight for date night. My boyfriend and I love Indian food — we eat it at least once a week. To start, the service here is a complete mess. People were just waiting around for their checks, us included. The food: I had the shaih korma(chicken) — the sauce and chicken were good. However, it had this underlying smoke taste? Something I’ve never tasted before. Wasn’t crazy about it. The naan(garlic) was ok. It tasted like it was sitting out for an hour. Not a fan. Eggplant appetizer — sweet and sour. Decent. The sauce is similar to A1 sauce. I won’t be back, but this place isn’t «bad». It just wasn’t great.

The Raman place next door closes from 4 to 5, that’s the first reason they lost my business. Then I ate here and I’m quite happy about that closure. They have perfectly cooked Naan and the rice is delicious too. Lentils dishes are the right size so you’re satisfied but not quite entirely full(especially nice two days after Thanksgiving) so it doesn’t feel like you overate. Keep an eye out for the interior details, there is a lot going on but it’s so harmonious you need a moment to dissect it all.

Pretty poor food and not very good service. Appetizers and naan were good. I would take food to go.

We order from here at least once a week and sometimes two. My husband is Indian, but I am also picky when it comes to Indian food. We both love this place like its our job. Never had a bad dish and at this point between us we are close to having tried at least half of them.

I don’t hand out 5 star often! Incredibly flavorful curries Awesome tandoori chicken, perfectly cooked meats from chicken to fish and lamb. services is excellent and prices are reasonable Especially considering the level of quality. I hope they do really well and stay around while. Must Try!!!

They gave us the wrong order than proceed to tell us they make it differently! Are you kidding me! It’s because they are from Bangladesh, not Indian. Be professional about it & admit you made a mistake & gave the wrong order. Piece of advice. don’t tell an Indian person they are wrong about their own food, when you aren’t Indian yourself! Sadly enough, ppl in the area don’t know any better!

3 and a half, really. 4 for food and 3 for service. My friend thought we might need a reservation on a Saturday night and called. Here is the conversation as related to me. Friend: Hi. I’d like to make a reservation for 2 people tomorrow night. Man on phone: Ok, thank you. Friend: Wait! Don’t you need my name? Man on phone: No, that’s ok. We’ll hold a table for you. Whaaaat? How can you hold a table for someone if you don’t have their name? Anyway, my friend and I arrived here for dinner a bit after 9:00 last night and the restaurant was empty. It was also freezing cold. Now, I like it cold, but this was like a freezer. It did gradually warm up… a few more people came in, perhaps one of them complained. Anyway, the enormous menu made it difficult to choose dishes, but we finally decided on Gobi Manchurian, The undescribable appetizer, chicken samosa, chicken Kahani(or something like that. the waiter recommended it), Saag paneer and garlic naan. Everything was very tasty… especially the samosa and the Gobi. The chicken in the main course was a bit overcooked, but tasty. The saag paneer was one of the better ones I’ve had, but not the best. But, overall, a very tasty and filling meal. The real issue I have with this place is the service. The couple of waiters who dealt with us were pleasant enough but did not speak English very well. One thought I had asked for tea when I hadn’t(and it’s not my enunciation… I’m a trained opera singer and speak very clearly). We didn’t finish all of our food because we wanted to share a dessert, so we asked one of the waiters to pack up what was left to go…3 times, because he didn’t seem to understand what we wanted. He brought the check with the food, never having asked us if we wanted anything else. We then said that we wanted to share a pistachio kulfi. He and the other waiter looked very confused as to what to do, since the check had already been brought. They kept reaching for the check and then not taking it. They brought the kulfi, which was delicious and then one of them finally said that they wouldn’t charge us for it, which was very nice of them. The prices were very reasonable and the food is good. And I don’t want to sound like one of those nasty Americans who complain that everyone should speak perfect English. I’m a lover of multi-culturalism. But it would be helpful for all of us and the restaurant, and they would avoid all the mis-communication, if the servers here spoke English a little better. Perhaps this is the issue with the very low ratings for delivery.

Solid indian food. A good combination of flavors and huge portions make this a place I’d visit again. It was also very reasonably priced. I paid 12 dollars for a huge skillet of chicken tikka. My only complaint was I ordered the grilled veggies and they were doused in a weird butter and sour cream concoction(not specified on the menu) and tasted terrible. Like so bad I had to ask the waiter to take it off the table. He was nice enough to not charge me for it though which was a plus. Also no idea why the chicken tikka was so greasy when it’s supposed to be baked but it was tasty nevertheless. Overall go check them out!

Just ate lunch there with my sister and kids. My son loved the samosas. But honestly it was a little bland for me. It wasn’t spicy ATALL. It is obviously geared towards Americans. They really need to add some spice to their food. It doesn’t have an Indian flavor at all. I tasted the vegtables and meat and didn’t taste any spices.

The stars are not an indictment on the food. This is, by far and away, the best Indian in this area of Brooklyn – Heights, Carroll Gardens, Park Slope, Gowanus, Cobble Hill. The problem, as other reviewers have noted, is the delivery service. It is HORRENDOUS. I don’t know what the hell is happening, but it’s plummeted downhill. Tonight, they forgot one of my items. They said they would resend it. It never came. When I called to ask where it was, they told me I «refused the order.» I have no idea how that’s possible, considering I’ve been packing for a trip all night. These guys are dishonest and simply don’t understand what customer service is. I’m done with Masala Grill, permanently. No apologies, no attempts to fix things. Instead, they pretend they sent the item out. I can’t come here anymore, and it’s a damn shame.

We have never eaten in the actual restaurant as we have only done delivery. Good lord. I routinely stuff myself when we order food from these folks. That is my review. Everything I’ve ever had from there seems to turn off some sort of part of my brain that says, «you’ve had too much». Can not control myself. Is this authentic? I don’t know. I’ve yet to travel through India. Is it the best in NYC? Who knows. If you live in the area and need a solid place to get your Indian cuisine on is this a good option? Yes. Yes. I like lamb. I adore the vindaloo and the Masala Korahi. My favorite thing so far is the Ka-Chori. This is an appetizer that is described as «too difficult to put into words but highly recommended». Order that. It’s awesome.

Delivery-only review, but this place is my favorite for when I’m craving Indian(and a lot of it) within 30 minutes. Their daily special is $ 13.95 for an entrée, an appetizer, rice, naan, and all the chutneys you need. It’s enough for 2 meals(for me), so a pretty good value even after tax and tip. I’ve tried their chicken tikka masala with samosas and the malai kofra with seekh kebob. All 4 dishes were great hot off the grill(out of the fryer?) and even maintained their composure after reheating the next day. Impressive. It all comes with hot, fluffy naan and full complement of chutney(mint is not listed on Seamless, so I make sure to ask for it, but presume it come standard). It also comes with an orange kind of kheer(I think? Someone tell me what this is).

On the menu, there is an appetizer called Ka-Chori. Everything else has a brief description, but Ka-Chori is listed as, «Too difficult to put into words, but highly recommended.» A couple things about that: 1. I will always order something with that description. 2. I’ve heard myself described the same way.* 3. If I was to put it into words, I would describe Ka-Chori as a saucy and colorful(I’m 90% sure they swirl the green, brown and white sauces included in every order on top of the dish) mixture of potato chunks, whole chickpeas(that aren’t mealy, for the first time in recorded history), and some crusty, bread-like chunks of deliciousness. Aside from this one appetizer, it turns out that Masala Grill also serves all kinds of delicious Indian food. The naan is fluffy, the staple dishes(for me at least) like Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Vindaloo or Rogan Josh, Chicken Bhuna, Saag Panir, Tandoori Chicken… are all fresh and flavorful.** And if you order any of these delicious dishes, they’ll give you at least two more sauces than the four you normally get at most Indian joints. That alone is a huge win. On the side of sadness, they have a strange habit of hiding whole star anise in dishes randomly. It’s like an awful surprise of both texture and flavor, and I’d appreciate it if that wasn’t a thing anymore. ____________ *That’s not true. ** I’m not a big fan of Malai Kofta, because who really wants veggie balls in a bland sauce? But my wife will continue to order it… I’m assuming just to bother me.

I’ve been waiting a long time for a good Indian place to open up near me in Boerum Hill. This one’s just a 5-minute walk AND it’s on Seamless so of course, I placed an order for pickup. They have lunch specials from noon to 4, which is a very generous window. They have lunch specials for multiple people or lunch boxes for one person(though the portions are large). I ordered the lamb curry lunch box, which came with a side of chana shaag(spinach/chickpeas), basmati rice, a gigantic naan bread, and a ton of sauces(including mango chutney, red onions, and a green hot sauce. The curry had a nice spice to it, and a lot of meat stuffed into a tiny container. The naan was incredibly fluffy. The chana shaag was creamy, with a great textural mix with the chickpeas. Only complaint was that they left the star anise in, which is a terrible surprise to bite into. Did I already mention that it was a LOT of food? Definitely more of a dinner box. Or lunch box fit for two. All for about $ 12(including tax)!
