This quaint eatery has great drinks and affordable lunch specials. I often order here for lunch. If it’s delivered it normally takes about an hour so order with anticipation. The lunch burrito is tasty, loaded with beef, rice, beans, and topped with guacamole. I also usually order the sweet plantains but often they are a bit greasy. Overall, the staff are friendly, the place is clean and prices are reasonable.

The one star is only because the food tastes good at least. Just ordered delivery. Received a call more than a half hour after I placed the order that one of the items was not available. I asked that they just take it off my order. They couldn’t put through the charge again, so she said she would send the delivery boy out with change for the cost of the item(ok but what about the tax that I paid on it?) Anyway, it took more than an hour and a half for my food to arrive. Delivery boy came with change for the missing menu item as promised. When I open my order up, one of them items was incorrect — supposed to be 3 super tacos, but instead was 3 regular tacos. Not a huge deal, but it’s an additional 3 dollars per taco for the upgrade, so I just basically handed them an additional 9 dollars for nothing. Never ordering from here again!

My office orders here ALL the time but lately it has been sub-par. It takes over a hour sometimes 2 hours for the food to come and when it does it is cold but you are so hungry you’re forced to eat it. If you try calling they never answer and when they do they just tell you it is out for delivery. The food is great and the lunch specials rock but 2 hours for cold lunch is just not acceptable.

We love this place! It’s so close to home. Usually a group of us will find our way to this little place for really good time, yummy Mexican food and drinks. The $ 5 margarita are so delicious! You can’t have just one The food is always hot and fresh, drinks are always on point, and the staff is so friendly. For a fun, fast and good time with amazing flavorful Mexican delights, you need to come check out this place, you won’t be disappointed… Enough said; just go! (Only reason I gave it a 4 star, is because the place IS small, but they make accommodations for everyone and all group sized)

I’m new to the place, but I’ll be coming back. I had the pork tacos and chicken soup and both were very good. The staff are super friendly, as well. Looking forward to trying some other dishes!

This is seriously a great brunch spot smack in the middle of sunset park. I really enjoy this place because you get an unforgettable deal of 14 bucks for an entrée and unlimited mimosa or Bloody Mary deal. The food is pretty delicious. Their guacamole is impeccable and you can get it in different levels of spiciness. The steak and egg breakfast is amazing as their steak is delightfully seasoned. Also every time you check in with Unilocal, you get a free tequila shot so yes, this is a definitely a brunch favorite.

A friend and I had brunch here this past Sunday and it was a very nice experience. The food was very good, the atmosphere was cozy and the staff could not have been friendlier. The fried ice cream dessert was delicious. The only reason I’m giving them four stars instead of five is because the steak part of the steak and eggs was a bit too grisly for my liking. The unlimited Bloody Marys were tasty and strong. I do hope to return but next time I’ll order something without steak.

I’ve written about this place before and i had such a great time then — which motivated me to return to sunset to eat here again. My friends still live in the area and they come there all the time, but based on this last time we went, we may not return. It was three of us. I was the first to arrive of the group. The female server(seemed like a manager or something also) seemed so coldhearted. When i ordered a drink, she didnt even get it and just kept walking around until the other server(hila…i love you) was available and i had to tell her to get it for me. the first female server was such a bitch and was so rude i almost told my friends to not come and ill meet them somewhere else. my friends arrived and we had a great time. Hilda saved the day with her great hospitality and warmth. the other lady needs to be somewhere else. I would only come on the days that Hilda is there… which forces me to call beforehand if i do.

So, I had ordered Maria’s a ton of times through delivery, but I decided to come in and give it a try inside. What a mistake. Let’s see: 1. $ 12 for a «premium» margarita. One would expect for a premium margarita, it would be huge, right? No! It was served in a rocks glass. Come on! I guess they have to make up for the unlimited brunch prices and workers leaving left and right(overheard when the bartender was talking to her friend, more about those two later). 2. One of my margaritas had a hair from the bartender in it. Come on man! 3. When I ordered one of my «premium» margaritas, the bartender poured too much and gave the leftovers to her friend for free! I’m sorry, but I am paying for the non-well tequila, not that guy! 4. At least 10% of the chips were crushed beyond use for the $ 9 guac. Speaking of $ 9, this is Sunset Park, not Park Slope. Again, covering for lost money from other items. I will not only not go inside again, I will never order delivery from them again. Ciao!

We were watching first seed in Eastern conference(ATL) play against 3rd seed then(CLE) when all of a sudden LeBron cuts for a massive dunk and a light bulb goes off in 4 of our heads. «Chicken and rice» We Unilocaled, grouponed, seamlessed, and all sorts of foodie apps/website to find chicken and rice around us. When we found Maria’s and saw pictures of the chicken an rice? We were sold. We instantly picked up our iPhone 7s and called. Got 4 orders and our night ended with awesome chicken and rice in our tummy for $ 11.70 per chicken and rice. Love this place! Will definitely have them again.

Living in Sunset Park, I have my fair share of great, authentic Mexican food — and because of that I’m pretty serious when it comes to critiquing these joints. I tried Maria’s for takeout last week and was floored! Another amazing neighborhood find! I had the Elote and Chorizo Super Nachos. The Elote was on par(if not better. gasp!) to Café Havana in SoHo — and the fact that it was still perfectly seasoned(spicy, not too much mayo and cheesy!) and intact during the takeout trip is pretty impressive. The nachos were great! So much filling, crispy chips and super tasty. Goes above and beyond regular nachos. I love this place!

I wanted to give 3.5 stars, but that’s not an option so I went with four because the waitress was really nice and the food was good, but it wasn’t like *WOW*. I had the chicken enchiladas in mole. The mole was good, can’t complain, but like I said it wasn’t AMAZING. I didn’t eat the rice only because I don’t eat rice, so I can’t comment on that. My mother tasted it and said it was flavorful.(In fairness, I eat a lot of Mexican.) My mother LOVED the guacamole(seriously she was sad when she finished it) because it was really fresh, I liked it a lot, but the chips were thick, like flour more than corn & I prefer thin corn chips. The coconut mojito though! *heart eyes*. It was great! It was strong with just the right amount of mint. Seriously I wish I had one right now.

This is my FAVORITE Mexican restaurant! Food: Always SUPER fresh. I love the chicken burrito, but the tacos are excellent as well. You can pick your level of spiciness for the guacamole, and I strongly suggest the hot level if you like some kick to your guac. The Esquites on the cob is delicious, with a perfect balance of spice and melted cojita. Drinks: Cheap happy hour, and a very cheap bottomless brunch on the weekends. Atmosphere: BACKYARDBRUNCH! GOGOGO! Little door leads out to the back and it is vibrantly decorated with all sorts of flags and pictures and memorabilia. Big, bright umbrellas protect you from the sun when you are eating on multicolored tiled tables. This place is adorable, and a hidden gem that is worth the trip to Sunset Park.

I am lucky enough to live around the corner from this place. They have a great weekend brunch menu. The outdoor seating in the back is a must on hot days. The open doors near the front of the bar are also nice for a cool breeze during the summer. My favorite things to order are the chorizo burritos $ 8 and the supreme chorizo tacos $ 4.50ea which include sour cream and guacamole. You can never go wrong with one of their margaritas as well. They have an extensive drink menu if margaritas aren’t your thing. On our last trip here we tried the«Chi Chi» which pleasantly reminded us of piña coladas. Service can be slow at times and inconsistent but nonetheless a worthwhile experience.

The food here was ok. My tacos weren’t bad, but I’ve had better both in Sunset Park and in Manhattan. I did have a bite of my friend’s burrito, and liked it more. Drinks were decent. Good service.

Came here for lunch and wasn’t too impressed with this place. Ive been hearing about it for years so I decided it was finally time to pay this place a visit. The staff was sorta friendly but very non chalant at the same time. They didn’t seem too much in a rush to provide us with service, in fact more than once we had to actually request attention after quiet some time of not being asked if we needed anything and the place was empty. Aside from that the food was okay. I tried the ¼ chicken with the rice and beans and found that to be rather bland. I also tried the chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. Again nothing spectacular. Someone close to me used to rave about this place a couple of years back but as I have seen and have read this place has definitely declined. I certainly will not be returning here.

Maria’s is a block away from my apt, which comes as no surprise that i frequent there: o. Hands down the best margarita I have had, they packa serious punch and really tasty. The food is good, not the best Mexican food I’ve had but you shouldn’t be disappointed. The space is relatively small with one long both-like seat spanning the entire restaurant with small tables in front and another single chair at the other end of the table, there is a small bar area from which you can few a 32″ TV directly in front of you; there is also another facing the diners. There is a really nice outdoor space for the warm weather season. The place is heavily embellished with decorations of mexico; it’s very in your face but for some reason I don’t find it tacky(mind you someone else definitely might). The staff is just OK, I was never made to feel special nor have I ever had a really bad experience with them. I definitely wouldn’t come as often if it wasn’t so close by but again the margaritas are very good and the food isn’t disappointing either.
