I try not to eat croissants because they’re a ton of calories with no nutritional value but their croissant is worth it. I just get the plain one, but it’s light, airy, buttery, and flakey. I’ve also had their black coffee which is aight. Not amazing and not bad. Another Unilocal review mentioned that the baked goods in the case are not always fresh, and that’s true. I asked them once if the desserts were baked that day and they weren’t. I think she mentioned they were baked the day before. At least they’re honest about it.

I have officially found my coffee spot in Williamsburg. I’m torn because I want to tell the world about this place and their delicious pastries and coffee but at the same time I want to keep it all to myself! Awesome environment, really nice barista, fantastic pastries, and great coffee.

Mix up with cashier. Delicious pastries. Saddened by their constant changing/shifting of seasonal items, but alas. Stop by and grab something.

My favourite patisserie, reminds me of France in many ways, have never disappointed me so far.

A true French-style patisserie. Almond croissants are often designed as highly-developed sugar delivery systems, whereas Margo’s croissant — while crispy — had a light, delicate taste that was sweet without being sugary. Same goes for their apple caramel slice. Wins all around.

My favorite café in Williamsburg, its a small and cute spot with the best croissants Ive ever had and many other tasty desserts and snacks. The sandwiches are great too. Their coffee drinks are perfect in my opinion and I prefer them to places like Oslo or Gimme Coffee. Overall, an outstanding gem which adds a lot to the area.

Come here to pick up The Very Best almond AND original croissants in Williamsburg on a brisk spring weekend morning(coffee is take-it-or-leave-it), ideally in a small handbasket, and enjoy them in your home, which is ideally a tasteful shabby chic studio that gets a ton of natural light, ideally with your paramour, who is ideally French and half-asleep in your tousled blanc-on-blanc-on-blanc sheets.

I realize in advance that giving this little independent Williamsburg café a 1star review makes me look like a big cranky pants but I can’t help myself because the drip coffee here was TERRIBLE and I want to save anyone else who is really excited about some Brooklyn caffeination from serious disappointment here Like it was so bad that I barely drank a quarter of it and I was seriously hungover. It tasted like a lukewarm cup of water with 4 grains of instant coffee and some cigarette ashes in it. Aside from the coffee I had an Earl Grey tea biscuit and that was yummy so maybe the pastries are worth a shot? Good luck.

I don’t know what to think of this place anymore. I used to come here a coupla years ago and all was fine and well taken care off. I came back twice in the span of three weeks: 1st time: Very bad service, snotty waiter who fucked up my order. His assistant was singing Elton John while giggling with its own self. I am pretty certain he was high on drugs or something. 2nd time: I had ordered a Yule Log(«Buche De Noël») for Christmas. When I came to pick it up, another anorexic girl was there working, not knowing what to do with the only customer, i. e me, when asked about my order. Worst thing, the cake was disgusting. No taste and 100% butter. So much for the classic«Grand Marnier» buche de Noël that the owner was delicately trying to advertise when I exchanged email with her … I won’t go back there and I am very disapointed because it was the only place in the neighborhood where I could find the classic French pastries of my homeland. RIP Margo Patisserie Café.

My favorite neighborhood dessert place. I never come here for coffee, so can’t speak on that. But their pastries are out of this world. Cakes, apple tarts, classic French croissants, all lovely. One tip, I think it gets a little slow and some of the cakes I think might be more then a day old, so just ask what’s fresh, made today. The baked stuff is always super fresh. Excellent service! None of this Williamsburg hipster crap. Just a nice neighborhoody vibe.

I think Unilocal is the Taj Mahal for 1st world problems and people that use it too much are losers so I only write reviews when something really blows me out of the water and this place is it. Im a huge macaroon fan/connoisseur and this place is incredible. the staff isnt that talkative but i appreciate it early morning actually.

All of the pastries, tarts, and bakery items here are top-tier. So delicious. We wake up and dream about the fruit(raspberry and blackberry) tarts, the cheesecakes, chocolate croissants, ham and cheese croissants — all impeccable. The baguette sandwiches are also really amazing. The Charcuterie sandwich is perfectly salty, fresh, lightly cheesy, and tastes so authentic. The coffee is really good as well. Highly recommend this spot for lunch, a quick bite, a coffee, a mid afternoon pastry/snack, morning or afternoon, clearly anytime you can get here — do it!

Some establishments should be defined in terms of their customers. Williamsburg is blessed to have many such examples. What kind of establishments? You know those where the customers are thrilled to note the historical building and a bench outside. Generous, warm hearted folks who see the best in everything. People who see the croissant as so good, even many in Paris would pale in comparison! I, on the other hand, am not blessed with such a generous disposition. When I think of the virtues of a croissant, being able to feed an entire family might not make it to my top 10 reasons for eating one. But, to have a butter croissant without any discernible buttery flavor, reduces it to a plain croissant in my books — not that many people would care to appreciate the difference. Neither am I cheerful enough to overlook the fact that two bites each into 3 of the 4 macarons I bought(caramel, pistachio, and passion fruit) failed to make any dent whatsoever in the shell. Maybe I should have appreciated that the bakery’s philosophy on macarons is modeled on the virtues of snowflakes i.e. no two are alike(in size or shape) — but my appreciation for a modicum of mechanical consistency and execution over possible artistry are likely indicative of my own limitations of vision. After all: Quality lies in the eyes of the beholder The second star is not to recognize the two unsuccessful bites 3 of the 4 macarons received, but for the pistachio lime cookie. My advice to the owners would be that good things come in small packages, and to be thankful for the forgiving customers that are so generous with their love on Unilocal

Had a plain croissant and soy latte. ÷Croissant: Pretty good. Tastes similar to Ceci Cela. I like this style. ÷Soy latte: They use Silk. Not good but not bad. French style. Stuffs were Friendly. Price is little over charged. $ 3 for a croissant.

Really good croissants here, made the Parisian way, crispy on the outside, soft and delicate on the inside. They have a ton of tea flavors, each of which can be made into iced tea on the spot. It has about 10 seats on tables inside, and a few more outside. Cute little place to get some work done and enjoy a croissant.

A little slice of Paris in hipster Williamsburg, with a cozy atmosphere good for writing or lingering with a friend. Their madeleines instantly swept me into an Amelie moment, and the raisin bun thing isn’t shabby either(mmm, burnt sugar). I’ll be back for coffee and more of those delicious French pastries soon!

Excellent, authentic pastries! I’m always amazed this place is in my neighborhood. Although I don’t hang out there with a laptop, I do stop by to pick up a pastry or two on a weekly basis. I do wish they allowed access to a bathroom. It is secluded in the neighborhood, so if you gotta go, you will have to sneak into a bar or restaurant on Bedford(unless you live nearby). I needed to wash my hands after eating a sticky pastry and was reluctant to get a wet paper towel. But I get it — it’s not Starbucks, thank god.

Very clever! I don’t know the provenance of the owner but hiring a young handsome French lad to be your counter-person and a charming French baker to be in the back of the house is just about the smartest move in the world. Who cares if the owner and the recipes are from Texas, I’m calling this place legit! Margo offers some of the classics(paris brest, fruit tarts, croissants) and then some not-as-common sights(those I cannot even name, my apologies). Neither half blew me away. The crème filling in the fruit tarts was oddly fluffy and lacking flavor. Although the texture of the crust was great, the flavor of butter was missing from all the pastries. The macaroons had were subtly chewy while still delicate — I’m calling that success — but a bit sweet on the filling. The lemon meringue was tart and creamy but nothing crazy delicious. The custard on top of the apricot pastry was also just ok. The best of the bunch was, by(correct) recommendation of the counter lad, the raisin bread. Flaky, sweet, good times. The Americano was none too shabby. Great selection — sweet little place — French boys — better-than-average pastries. 3.5 stars — rounding down to 3 because I’m afraid of having fallen for the act. Also would round up to 4 if the pastries weren’t $ 5.50 a piece. Highway robbery for the quality.
