LightSpace Photo Studios

This studio has a lot of issues. Growing pains? I’m not sure but our overall experience was quite mediocre.
It looks great in the photos and is slightly more affordable than spaces in Manhattan but not worth it for the trek and the space.
The gear we rented from them — expensive. Serious mark up on what their vendor charges. Most of the stuff we got from them in house was damaged or not functional.
The WIFI is horrible. Screenshots of the speeds attached. When I asked the studio manager about the slow internet I was told «Well it’s already bad and you have 8 people on the network so that doesn’t help.» 8 people should not be a problem for any decent wifi router. High speed internet should be a staple at any production space. We couldn’t upload small attachments to email and generally could not work online during the day.
Finally the A+B studio separation does not make sense. They are in the same room. I can’t imagine how you could rent just one or if both were rented separately. You would share a kitchen and bathrooms and HMU room? They would separate the studios with curtains?
All in a very disappointing experience. RE: the review about sound — 100%. DO NOT shoot here unless you are MOS. The street sounds are VERY loud.

Recently attended an event at this space. I was anticipating a bigger venue although the loft area was used for the discussions and right below it, was set-​up as a healthy drink bar with stools. There were enough vendors with different things to offer from food, soaps, clothes, wallets etc. all vegan, humanely made and some from re-​purposed materials. Overall feel of the space was cool yet getting there was a different story.

I use LightSpace Studios often and love it every time.
We have shot cars, Short films, Commercials, Music videos, Both photo and video.
The space is nice and clean, they have multiple studios of various sizes

Love this space — the studios are spacious, bright, and clean, and you have access to the roof that has amazing views of the city skyline. The rates are much less than Manhattan, and the guy who runs it is friendly, down to earth and organized.
