I’ve been a client of Joanne’s forever, I’ve recommended her to tons of friends as well. My best friend comes all the way from Rockland County for Joanne’s cuts and color! My teenage daughter is a client too. I love my appointments here — the shop is great-looking and the vibe makes you want to hang out.

A good way to get loose from the winter blahs is to come here for a haircut. Joanne looked over my current style and together we assessed what needed to be done. Not only do I have an amazing cut with my long bangs now shaped, but this haircut also feels very light and soft. Joanne artfully and carefully gave me a great cut that I needed. I agree with other reviews here, this is a special place.

I love this salon. The environment is bohemian artistic and everyone is always friendly. Joanne owns the shop and she couldn’t be more low key and kind. I love my hairdresser, Christine, and have been going to her for many years. I have actually followed her as she moved from salon to salon. But now she has finally found a happy home to create her hair magic! She knows how to cut my curly hair, colors it wonderfully and is flexible and easy to work with. The price is right and the location is convenient. Highly recommend!

It felt like it was a million degrees outside, I had an hour to kill and I literally walked past this shop, thought about getting a haircut, checked the Unilocal reviews and made the decision on the fly. And I am glad I did. Nicole greeted me and fortunately(for me) her 5:30 had just cancelled, so right into the chair I went. I’m usually anxious about getting my hair cut, especially when I go from long and neglected to short because of my curls, people tend to ignore them and just cut away. But not Nicole! She clearly knew what she was doing, was easy to talk to, gave me a fantastic cut and all for $ 65(including a 20% tip!) BAM. The shop itself is cute, and super clean. Everyone is really nice. Excellent experience overall.

I have basically had a just shy of shoulder length straight bob for a decade, and suddenly decided I wanted a really short cut. I brought some pictures to Jo Ann on a friend’s recommendation, and she immediately got what I was going for. Fabulous haircut. I’m so happy with it. Great price for a quality cut.

No overpriced hipster salon, this. Peggy is absolutely, solidly great. I wanted a pretty unusual cut, and she listened to what I wanted, and then just did it. I also have curly hair, which can be a challenge for many stylists, but she has been doing this forever, and it shows. She was not intimidated, and didn’t try to be overly careful. She gave me exactly what I asked for. No spa-style fussing, no chit chat or fancy products — just a completely awesome haircut.

Love this place! Joanne has given me cute, stylish cuts that last, are reasonably priced, and always bring me lots of complements. She is great about giving ideas without being pushy. And, the vibe of the place is great. The ladies are all cool and casual. No complaints here!

I’ve been a client of Joanne’s for over 10 years, moved over to LPC when it opened. I LOVE her. She listens and«gets» what I want. She has helped me grow out my hair long and then been there to buzz it off. At this point, she’s like family. She’s especially good with curly, frizzy hair, which I have a lot of. Check LPC out!

Thank God I found this place! After a botched home dye I had to rush to find a salon that could help. Luckily I found Peggy. She made my black and orange Halloween look one beautiful shade again. I’m receiving many complaints. I like the atmosphere of this place not pretentious just a normal salon with friendly employees. Worth a trip!

Chai was awesome. She’s fun and did a great job. I usually leave salons disappointed, which is why I haven’t gotten my hair done in over 6 months. She knew what to do for my face and personality and daily routine. And I left so happy! I’m definitely going to make her my go-to-gal. Gotta love it!

I had a great experience here. I needed a haircut badly but didn’t want to spend a lot of money since haircuts cost so much in NYC. I bought a coupon for a cut, color, and gloss for $ 89(found on travelzoo) I was nervous because I wanted to cut my hair short and I’ve had long hair forever. But Joanne did an incredible job. She was super friendly, and salon was really cute inside, and she did exactly what I asked for. My hair is now above my shoulder which is a huge change for me, but I love it and have gotten a ton of compliments on it. The best part is how affordable it is. I can actually go back for a cut because they’re only around $ 50. And, the only added cost to the voucher I bought was $ 4 for tax — a lot of lifebooker stuff adds on a lot of extra $$ on top of the voucher(though I tipped on the full amount) I had a great experience here and recommend getting a cut with Joanne. I’m glad I finally found a place that I like and that is affordable.

Pros: I got the best color I have had in a long time and usually frequent high-end swanky salons. Joann understands the concept of a TRIM. She took just the right amount off keeping it long – just the way I like it. Cons: A worker/stylist(?) was passed out on the waiting couch when I walked in. Hair was all over the floor by my styling chair(though it was cleaned up after a few minutes.) Prices are on the hefty side for a small and spare salon. They charge for a blow dry even when you get a color and a cut – what? Who does that? I inquired about that charge(it was $ 35 bucks and not the best blow-out ever – not he worst either – just a standard blow dry) and was told that they charge for blow dry no matter what the services rendered are. That turned me off big time. Prices seem to fluctuate with the client. What is $ 35 for one client may be $ 42 for another. I realized this as my bill was being processed and the numbers didn’t match the price list. She kind of seemed to be pulling numbers out of her azz, but maybe it’s because I had a groupon and she wanted to make up the difference? They work FAST! There is no luxury here. You put your stuff down, go to the sink, apply glaze, wait ten minutes, rinse glaze, move to the chair, clip, clip clip, dry, dry dry and out you go. It’s great for when you’re on the run, but I like to spend a day at the salon like a good ol’ fashioned Brooklyn gal. Anyway – I can not complain about the actual hair services. It looks fabulous and Joann is super nice, understanding and talented. It was the suspicious pricing, in and out service, slightly unsanitary environment(the tufts of thick hair all over the floor) and passed out stylist that turned me off. I can’t say I won’t return again because I LOVE my hair, but I will speak to the owner about pricing first.

I think I might be in love with the cute and quaint hair salon. I have a ton of naturally lovely red hair but about a year ago I started going grey and was devastated! I started going to this super trendy swanky salon in Manhattan and every time I left I was miserable. They had somehow managed to take auburn and turn it into burgundy. After four burgundy dye jobs, countless sobbing sessions and plenty of pointless bitching at my boyfriend for no apparent reason, I went to Joanne after I bought a group deal. I AMINLOVE! She got me in quick, understood what I meant when I said auburn, took the awful burgundy out and replaced it with a next to natural super shiny cooper red. All while serving me a mimosa and gossiping about everything from celebrities to boyfriends. My hair looks amazing! As this was a color emergency and took a bit of time I got to see all the other stylists in action and everyone there is talented, professional and fun. I felt like I was just hanging with the girls. And the prices… AREMADINEXPENSIVE! This might be the best deal I have ever gotten in New York. Fantastic service and style for under $ 100 = LOVE!

This is definitely a great place to go for excellent service. The staff is professional and hard working. The wait time is minimal and I suggest making an appointment to book your favorite stylist. I’ve gone twice now to Maritsa who always consults me about what is best for my hair in terms of products. I am informed about the decisions she is making and she makes sure that I am comfortable each time I go. I also love the décor which is relaxed and a bit funky. The prices are good as well! :)

I wrote a review of Le Chandelier a little while ago, and I’ve followed Joanne and Chai down the block at Le Petit. They’ve managed to capture something really unique in that place; it’s FUN. No one wants to spend 2 hours at the hairdresser being bored, fussed over, or made to feel inferior, but everyone wants to feel a little stylish and walk out a little more confident. With Chai, Joanne and Peggy, you can guarantee you’ll have a great cut/color/blow-out, but you’ll also feel like you just had a glass of wine with a bunch of friends. Awesome place.

For a stand-in«I’m starting to look washed out and strung out» emergency haircut, this place was pretty good. I was able to get an appointment on Saturday with Joanne. While my hair was cut shorter than desired, the movement and layers of the cut definitely freed me from the weight of months of neglect. The price was $ 52 without tip, and about 8 dollars cheaper than the place I usually go to, which is always an added plus.
