I plan to give this place another try at some point and hope to love it more. Overall, the service, ambience, and drinks were great, but the food was pretty bland and just not good at times.

We really love this place. Tito makes some amazing and inventive cocktails. The atmosphere is casual, the music is great, and the food is authentic and homemade. Highly recommended!

Excellent tequila selection. The bartender is great whenever we go in and is great to chat with. Food is pretty good — hope they open up an outdoor back area for the warmer months.

Do you like mezcal? Like really like it? Then you owe it to yourself to go to La Loba. Much like how other bars have whiskey lists, La Loba has a mezcal list. Probably around 20 different bottles, and they offer flights as well. I went with their Tres Manos(favorites) flight. Three one-ounce pours of Union, Ilegal Reposado and Fidencio Pechuga for $ 20. They were all good, but definitely went up in quality in the order listed. That was actually their cheapest flight, and they had ones going up to $ 25 and $ 30. I also had a cocktail because it just sounded so damn interesting. It was the Santa Maria — made with mezcal, strawberry, arbol chilis, piloncillo, balsamic, angostura bitters and lime. I’ll be honest — all the flavors ended up competing against each other and it really didn’t taste much like any of the ingredients. Except for the spicy. You could definitely taste that. Wasn’t a bad drink though. We also had some bar snacks — chicharrones and the chips and salsa. They were a very affordable $ 3 each, but nothing to write home about. Friendly bartender. And good times all around.

Awesome experience — the dishes are Oaxacan influenced, as noted in other reviews, and their drink menu is actually pretty extensive(we ordered tastings and Mezcal Mules to top it all off). For food, we had the ceviche, panchos, and tlayudas. The tortillas are handmade each day and absolutely delicious(they really hit the nail on the head for texture /moisture here — you’ll notice right away). We also liked the atmosphere — the canteen design makes for a nice hangout spot for after-work drinks(whether you’re in casual or more semi-formal clothing — all would go well). Above all, the service and owners are great — we had the pleasure of meeting both Jeff and Meredith during our first visit, who greeted us and welcomed us in as if we were regulars. Strongly recommended and we’ll be heading back soon!

I was so excited to hear about the opening of La Loba Cantina in my neighborhood. When I arrived, I was super hungry and ready to order everything. My girlfriend also has a similar appetite so we went with a bunch of options. 1. Guacamole & Chips: Chips were crunchy, fresh and warm– not oily. The guacamole was slightly spicy and deliciously creamy. 2. Tlayuda-Nopales: The ends of the tlayuda was super crispy but the middle was a little soggy from all the toppings. This was the first time I had cactus so I have nothing to compare it to, but I learned that I do not like cactus at all. For those of you who haven’t had it either, the consistency and taste is very similar to okra but the cactus is a bit more squishy. I would definitely try this dish again sans nopales. 3. Stew: This was one of the specials of the day and one of the best things we ate. It was spicy and full of tender chicken and whole boiled corn kernels. Very tasty. 4. Chicken Tamale: The whole thing was a bit dry. The chicken was spicy but lacked any other flavor. This place wins some extra points for service. Our waitress was very attentive without being overbearing.

Been to Oaxaca, so I’ve been searching far and wide for food as good as I’ve had there. This place was a great reminder of the wonders of Oaxacan cuisine. And the drinks are absolutely wonderful. Interesting, dynamic, mmmmmmm. Chill spot too.

The Mezcal mule was awesome when I stopped by there 2 weeks ago Friday. Will return next week to give a through review on their meals.

I came in here with a preconceived notion of what Mezcal is, and left with my walls knocked down. Between perfectly mixed guacamole and homemade tortillas, I sipped the sweet nectar that is the 20th Century Boy, and the El Viejo(a reimagined Old Fashioned, improved if you can believe it!). Don’t limit yourself to what you are familiar with, as La Loba has redefined what people need to keep the nights fun and interesting. They offer good music, great drinks, a tropical atmosphere, and some curiosities that entice each patron. It’s a bar haven for those who could use a good drink.

bases on Oaxacan cuisine via California, they’ve stayed true to a lot of the recipes and added great twists as well. It’s a new place, so they’re still sorting out service related issue. However, the ambience is amazing, great décor and lighting too. really giving you the feel of an Oaxacan canteen. A much needed change from all the hum-drum restaurants on Church Ave

I stumbled upon this place last week and was blown away by their mezcal selection! The décor was a dream but the food and drinks were equally as good. Our server was super sweet and helped me decide on the perfect flight. Can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the menu!

Stumbled in here with friends after a long ride in PP. Atmosphere — I give La Loba Cantina an A for authentic. Love the décor and the sunlight from the big window really brightens up the day. Food — The pork pebil(sp?) and tamales are awesome. Very excited to try the quesadillas next time i ride. Drinks — My favorite drink was the raspberry margarita and it didn’t give me any acid reflux after two of them. Big Win!!! Music — Rolling Stones, Joy Division what?!? The DJ is a modern day Casey Kasem(RIP) that knows how to party. I will def go back.

Came here for a bite on a Thursday at 6PM with my 2 year old and 3 other adults. We were the only patrons there from the time we arrived until the time we left. Here’s our feedback… Not kid friendly: No highchairs, no plastic cups… ordered a queso-less chicken quesadilla for my 2 year old due to milk allergy and while they accommodated this request, they brought SPICY chicken for my kid to choke on… but OK its a cantina, not really fair to ding them in this category. Not adult friendly: We were greeted with a smile, but a shallow, insincere smile. A bit pretentious. Our server seemed inconvenienced by our request to pull two tables together to seat our party. Food not notable: Of the food they remembered to prepare, everything was, as another reviewer stated, «meh». Probably one of the blandest guacs I’ve had, and the panuchos were forgettable. Speaking of… they forgot to prepare my mom’s order, and only realized when we pointed it out. By that time everyone was finished with their food and my mom asked them to cancel her order. It was just the five of us at the place the entire time, how do you forget to serve one of your five total guests? They insincerely apologized and made sure to charge us $ 1.50 for asking for extra chips.

o·a·sis ōāsis/ noun a pleasant or peaceful area or period in the midst of a difficult, troubled, or hectic place or situation. If you’ve ever been to Kensington Brooklyn, you understand the solitary gem that La Loba Cantina truly is. In a neighborhood dominated by noisy car washes and greasy auto repair shops, with little choice in the field of entertainment or food(although this is rapidly on the rise as of late) La Loba offers a solid menu of delicious mescal and tequila based cocktails and positively scrumptious finger foods. My wife and I have had several of the Panuchos and they were fresh and uniquely flavored. We also had tacos and the guacamole, both really great dishes. The atmosphere is shadowy and cozy, like a shabby-chic hotel bar meets a Mexican watering hole meets a hipster poster shop. During the summer the backyard will be open(so I’ve heard from the owners) which will only add to its awesomeness. Overall it’s a quality establishment that the area is lucky to have.

Buen ambiente! As for the mezcal flight and the mezcal margarita, lets just say this place is a Mexican not a Mexicant. It’s really great to have such a place in the neighborhood!

Tucked into a block of Kensington, discover the most delightful regional Oaxacan Mexican cuisine. Homemade corn tortillas, Dios mío! The elote is a wonderful corn salad with a delicious fresh taste. The cochinita was a fresh corn tortilla topped with a delectable braised pork pile. Tlayuda with tinga de pollo was also wonderful. Come eat here, you will be happy!

Loved it! Good, fresh eats in cute setting. Only 4-stars because the ceviche was very light on fish, and we didn’t try any drinks.

Maybe we hit them on an off-night, but our experience very different from other reviews Abysmally slow service(and they werent that busy) — 5 minutes to get a menu — 10 minutes to order drinks — 15 minutes to GET drinks(apps came b4 drinks). While the bartender was BS’ing with the ppl sitting at the bar, instead of mixing our drinks — Everything served sooooo slowly «Meh» food — Most of the 5 or so different things we ordered tasted mostly the same — Most of our tortillas were inedible(perhaps they had sat for so long — slow service — that they had turned a texture somewhere between cardboard and shoe leather. Some couldn’t even be chewed they were so tough) — Guacamole — very fresh and chunky… but barely any flavor — no spice, no salt, no lime nor jalapeño nor cilantro flavors — Chips with guac were cold, hard, and greasy — Chicharrone also cold, hard, and greasy. Dont know if it was house-made, but felt and tasted like end-of-day leftovers from a Sunset Park bodega — The Tetelas were the bright spot — tortillas tasty and good texture, filling rich and smooth — Margarita was tasty but tiny and ¾ ice cubes But we didnt say anything about the service or quality during the whole meal. Then when our waiter was clearing the table he asked how everything was. I responded with«Well, there were some ups and downs…» and instead of taking that opportunity to get some feedback, his response? «Well, that’s the way it goes sometimes…» as he took the dishes and hastened away
