OMG, no! No heat in the middle of winter. Literally every customer had there winter coat in, or heavy sweaters with their scarves around the neck. Udon: what was that?! Tasteless & arrived at the table barely warm… in a freezing restaurant. Only the shrimp portion was good. Maki, it was good, but not enough to overcome the terrible udon. NOT for us, maybe for you.

I go here almost once a week. It is hands down the best sushi for your money. Great service and they’re never skimpy with the fish in their rolls. I recommend the eel avocado roll and the salmon avocado roll.

So far so good. Tried different things from the menu and it has all been tasty. The lychee saki is very nice too.

The sushi was pretty fresh. I had the evergreen roll which was very tasty and was big(it better be at 14 bucks), sashimi clam, squid and octopus and sushi salmon roe and sea urchin. The prices for the a la carte items were a little high, but the pieces of fish were pretty large. I found the cooked food was just so-so, but it could have been what we ordered. The shrimp on the pre fix menu was a plate of a lot of fried food. The soup was good.

I can’t speak to their food or dining atmosphere, but I can tell you that this restaraunt employs some p*ssed off delivery guys. When one of their fellas tried to slip into our building behind me without being buzzed, I politely asked him to buzz whoever he’s delivering to and they would let him in. This policy isn’t based on Park Slope pretentiousness but on several instances of people coming into our building pretending to be delivery guys and stealing sh*t, and in one instance actually breaking into an apt. Thus the building enacted a rule that residents are responsible for anyone they allow into the building. Makes sense to me. Well this grizzled veteran of the delivery game apparently took umbrage with my polite request and decided to call me a «fucking asshole». When I asked him what he said, in case I misunderstood or what have you, he made himself plenty clear. Tough call right? Do you curse the dude out? Punch him in the face? The later sounded really good in the heat of the moment but I’d definitely prefer to avoid any legal entanglements or injuring a hand on his snazzy little red helmet. Plus, even if I was fully in the right, I can’t think of anything more depressing than fighting some sad-sack delivery guy, the guy must have a rough, rough life) not that that is license to be an as*hole). Called the restaurant to complain and the woman I spoke to seemed pretty unsurprised, guess the guy is a d*ck to the staff too. So yeah, maybe order sushi somewhere else unless you’re feeling agro and want to throw down with a belligerent delivery guy.

There are parts about sushi that are easy to love or hate: fresh fish, consistent quality, etc. Jpan has those covered. I always order a combo of hot appetizers and special rolls. The beef negimaki is a must have, my favorite rolls are the crazy spicy(jalapeño and salmon tempura) and the country roll. 5 stars are earned here from above and beyond service all the time. Easy stuff like knowing your address from your telephone number goes a long way. But last night I asked for tamari with my sushi(Tamari is gluten-free). The hostess called me back to remind me that the fantastic roll was not gluten-free, is this all OK? Of course it was, I get Tamari because soy is bad for you. But she called back to be sure!

The NICEST staff and chefs serving some of the best sushi in Brooklyn! The tuna appetizer is a must! The experience is very delightful. This is definitely a neighborhood favorite. Edward(our server for almost 8 years now) is a gem!

Pretty inexpensive lunch specials, which is the major plus. Not amazing quality /authenticity, but it satisfies my regular craving for sushi /standard Americanized Japanese fare. Attentive service.

So last year when I was looking for apartments I randomly had dinner here. Tonight was the follow up with delivery & Amy schumer HBO special. Lemme tell you, this did not disappoint. I was really in the mood for some chirashi, which can be a minefield if you don’t know how the fish is but I figured let’s try it! Food: –spicy mussel miso: I had two bites of it bc my entrée was a monstrosity. Pretty spicy, not for the faint of heart -«Never know raw fish bowl:» my great debate tonight was between the chirashi bowl & this gem. Since there was no description of what’s in this I took a chance(living on the wild side tonight). All I have to say is HOLYCRAP! The serving is huge! Def big enough for two people & it comes with either soup or salad. The rice is seasoned & topped with kani, tamago, eel sauce & roe. There are 9 pieces of sashimi & some phenomenal thing that’s spicy tuna wrapped in avocado. The fish is fresh. It’s not like top of the line but it’s still very good. Delivery was within the time frame given by seamless. I will FOSHO be getting this amazing gem known as the«never know raw fish bowl»

The house specialties we read about on Unilocal lured us into Jpan one Saturday, but nothing quite lived up to expectations. –The tuna dumpling looks super cool, like a big red onion on a plate, but under the thinnest layer of tuna is the largest pile of minced crab stick. So. much. crab. stick. The combination of sauces, ginger on one half the plate, a red vinegar on the other, complemented the dish well, but maybe if the dish was renamed to crab stick craziness, it’d better set expectations for people who are into that sort of thing. — Volcano(spicy tuna and spicy salmon with avocado wrapped with crispy asian pancake, served with eel sauce and sweet spicy sauce) tasted like a chewy version of a tuna roll, nothing striking or special — The phoenix roll(eel, tuna, and mango, topped with crab stick, almond, and dried cranberry, served with wasabi aioli and eel glaze) sounded eclectic and fun, but there wasn’t any eel — just eel glaze, and the cranberries were a bit too much — completely underwhelming. Jpan’s menu is varied, extensive and interesting, but not quite sure if any of it is well-executed here.

I have been here many times. Both the restaurant and ordered delivery. The restaurant has indoor and backyard out door space. The tuna dumpling is amazing. I mostly order sushi rolls classic and special. The winter roll is my favorite. The sushi is fresh! Great taste! Best in brooklyn.

This was our first time eating at Jpan upon arrival which was early around 6PM we were greeted by a delightful waiter who could not do enough for us the entire time we were there– when appetizer we ordered the volcano roll and then we had a deep fried banana mango shrimp roll some salads and some of the various rolls. We really enjoyed the food it was creative well prepared and delicious. Around 7 o’clock it started getting very busy and I noticed that they do a busy take out as well. I would definitely recommend sushi here it was fresh and overall good value for money.

The person who answered the phone was very nice. She took my order for pick up and it was ready within a few minutes. I ordered the duet roll which has tuna, salmon and avocado, the spicy king crab roll, and a seaweed salad. Everything was good. It all tasted so fresh. The kind crab roll had a good amount of crab and wasn’t rolled too small. Portion sizes here are definitely great. I was only passing by the neighborhood but I’m sure I will all in again.

I love Jpan. I used to live right next door and went there at least once a week, when I wasn’t lost and eating off food trucks. So many yummy things to eat that it almost makes up for all those wasted childhood years running with street gangs. Anyhoo, go to Jpan. You won’t regret it.

This is my fave Americanized sushi place in all of NYC. I will take a trip out to Brooklyn for the monkey roll. All of their specialty rolls are killer! But the monkey is my favorite — shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado and three sauces(think sweet and spicy). My roomies fave is the crazy spicy roll — salmon tempura, avocado, scallion and jalapeño with a crazy spicy sauce. I don’t love tempura at all, but this place does it right. J’pan also offers killer service. The waiters are so sweet and attentive! The atmosphere is also pretty basic, but I love their outside patio. Beware of park slope children, but worth it for the menu options, price tag and service!
