Really disappointing. Sigh. Last on any list of Jewish delis in New York, unfortunately. One star for the food, which is just bad; an additional star for the friendly service; a final star because I hope that they get things together and survive. I really wanted to like this place, based on the Unilocal reviews. Alas, like most, the reviews appear to be canned. Pastrami was bland and so thinly sliced that they fell apart. The corned beef was shockingly dry — so dry that we added more mustard than warranted just to make it edible. Fries were from a freezer bag. Pickles were half-sour only and had a chemical aftertaste. Nice folks. Bad deli. We won’t make the trip again. Unfortunate.

I was starving for Jewish deli so I got the best in Brooklyn from jay and kinds sho delivered me 3 pounds of pastrami. 2 pounds Coke slaw. A down on Delaney sandwich which is Russian dressed with pastrami coleslaw and corn beef . I got me a kasha knish and 3 ponds of rye bread and chopped liver I’m set Just got myself again it’s February 5 for the weekend I got for the Super Bowl 2 pounds of corn beef 2 pounds of pastrami split pea soup large 2 kasha knishes one large rye bread I’m happy the delivery was hot and the delivery man it’s very nice it’s name is Angelo

Saved by hot and delicious matzah ball soup on a cold winter’s day! What was equally soothing was the friendly staff and owner who came over to my table to chat and find out if I needed anything to make my meal more enjoyable! The matzah ball soup was delicious w the perfect ratio of noodles to matzah ball. My Tuna fish salad was fresh and plentiful and my boyfriend’s «classic» sandwich(mix of pastrami and corned beef) was tender, lean and flavorful! I would definitely recommend this deli to anyone in New York City! I have been to Katz’s, stage door deli and the like and I have to tell you that Jay and Lloyd’s kosher deli offers up fierce competition– worth traveling for!!!

Pastrami & pickles. The pastrami sandwich had the most tender pastrami that I have ever eaten and was ridiculous. Jay was super friendly. The atmosphere was authentic. Order Russian style dressing or a spicy mustard depending your sandwich style. Both were amazing!

Jay & Lloyd’s is like the lesser version of Katz’s. The prices are lower, but the quality is also lower. If you order their specialty sammies, those are not cheap. They’re about the same price as a sammie from Katz’s. I ordered the«Try it… you’ll like it!»(corned beef and tongue) and«Down on Delancey»(corned beef, pastrami, brisket, cole slaw, Russian dressing). The pastrami is a tad dry but the pastrami is alright. This was my first time trying cow tongue so I don’t really have anything else to compare it to. But I think it was cured with the same spices as their other deli meats so it tasted very similar to their pastrami, but a little mushier(if that makes sense). Their stuffed cabbage was not good. The sauce that it was drowned in was way too sweet. It just tasted like ketchup with a boatload of sugar. I also had the meatballs, which were pretty good but at $ 8 for 3, it’s pretty expensive. I would say the best part of the meal were the pickles it came with. I prefer the full sour over the half sour.

One of the best ever jewish delis I’ve never been to in my life, it blows cats away in the pastrami is fresh and juicy. Don’t forget to try their amazing knishes and the owner is great.

Great place to eat. Best Pastrami I have ever had anywhere in New York. Family store, the owners are very helpful come and talk to you and make you feel so comfortable! Should be on everyones list to visit and eat!

Classic Jewish deli deep in the heart of Brooklyn that has a whimsical sense of humor while deriving classic and emerging next gen deli fare. Nestled on the same block and between a, classic pizza joint, Middle Eastern deli/bakery, Russian place, Chinese joint and Japanese Sushi place, Jay and Lloyds proudly represents the Chosen People on this busy street in one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhood on the planet. The pastrami and corned beef were tasty, but a little soft. Could have just been the batch. Wonderful friendly people.

Absolutely amazing! We tried the Kreplach in chicken broth, zucchini pancakes, pastrami, corned beef, brisket, and fries. Everything was fantastic, and Lloyd was probably the friendliest business owner I’ve met in Brooklyn. Item by item: The Kreplach was soft and flavorful, like a puffy version of the best wonton I’ve ever had, but better. The chicken consumé in which the kreplach was served was everything you could ever hope your grandmother would make, and more. Incredible. The Pastrami was amazing. Definitely one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in my life. The Corned Beef was similarly fantastic. The house-made russian dressing was to die for. The pickles, cut and served in the form of a heart was great. The zucchini pancakes were good too. Finally, the fries, which lent themselves more to applesauce a la latkes than ketchup, were some of the best I’ve ever had. I need to export this entire restaurant to Denver.

Meh. delivery takes soooo over the top long for such mediocre food. 1 hour and 30 minutes to be exact. Maybe if you eat in the experience is better??? All we ordered was 1 hot dog, 2 knishes, and pastrami on club bread. Our total was about $ 40.00. I don’t think I will make the mistake in ordering from here again lol.

If you’re looking for the best pastrami in Brooklyn(possibly NYC… Yes including Katz’s– which I LOVE!) check this place out and see what you think. I have a feeling you’ll be happy you did. It’s a relatively no frills, no hype kind of place. It’s not fancy in any way, it’s pastrami, corned beef & pickles the way they’ve been doing it for three generations at this family owned and run establishment. If you decide on corned beef(it’s best to go with a partner and go halfsies on that and a pastrami sandwich) get it with a side of Russian dressing. Didn’t get the hotdogs but I’ll be back for the those soon enough.

The owners put a lot of love into their food. I ordered the zucchini pancakes and a tuna sandwich. The pancakes literally melted in my mouth and the tuna was so smooth and creamy, and the taste was so light. I loved it. The dessert is homemade and the best rugala and cookies I’ve ever had. My friends had the pastrami and loved it too, I recommend this to anyone still trying to live in that Brooklyn deli life. This place delivers excellence.

Im sorry, i don’t usually post bad reviews. But this was a must!!! The food was disgusting! The roast beef sandwich thats part of the«lunch special»… runs about $ 17 after tax. The roast beef sandwich delivered was cold, served with only 2 pieces of bread and mashed potatoes that taste like they are from a box. Avoid this place.

I was recently in New York for a week and wanted to try as many good places to eat as possible. Pastrami was on my list, and from reading all kinds of articles and various website taste tests, it seemed for the area of New York it came down to two places, Katz or Carnegie. Katz always seemed to edge everyone out. So I went to Katz and I must admit, their pastrami was amazing! I thought I had the best pastrami, that is, until I went to Jay and Lloy’s Kosher deli in Brooklyn. I was on a food tour with Fat Dave, and he mentioned this place as a great place he likes to go for pastrami. Because I had just had pastrami the day before at Katz and I thought I had already tried the best, I decided to get a few pieces of corned beef from Jay & Lloyds to try which was excellent. Lloyd is the nicest guy. He came out to talk to us and asked us where we were from. We told him Hawaii and he told us about how he went to Hawaii on his honeymoon. We talked for awhile and I was raving about how good the pickles were, and he mentioned he proposed to his wife with a heart shaped pickle. I asked how do you achieve a heart shaped pickle and he went behind the counter and came back and gave us a heart-shaped pickle. You can look in the photos to find it. He asked us where else we had eaten and I mentioned I had just had Katz the day before. The moment I said that, he became excited and wanted me to try his pastrami and let him know what I thought of it. He brought out a plate of it, and we all had a few pieces. I will be completely honest here, it was even better than Katz. The pastrami was thinly cut, nicely marbled, but it was the spices and texture that really stood out. It was perfection, just the right amount of salty, peppery, soft, barely chewy, and this subtle perfect brine undertone. My biggest regret in trying this pastrami is that now any sort of pastrami I eat in hawaii will taste like generic bologna as compared to the gloriousness that is Jay and Lloyd’s pastrami. Oh yeah, when you’re at the deli, take a look at the door, they have a nice«Jewish Zodiac» poster where you can see what you are based on the year you were born. I discovered I am «Chopped Liver» — People either love you or hate you, making you wonder, «What am I, chopped liver?» Thanks Lloyd, we loved your deli and I will come back the next time I’m even remotely in the vicinity!!!
