Favorite is the grilled shrimp and chips with garlic and tamarind sauce. Highly addictive.

The food was good wait time wasn’t that bad being that it was a Friday evening that I visited the restaurant. I had grilled shrimp & fries all cooked to perfection, also had the garlic sauce to top it off and pepper sauce which makes your nose sweet. Overall I loved my experience they played Soca so your dancing as you wait which is always a good thing for me. Customer service gets a 3 because you have to shout a little back and forth in order to hear each other due to the music level.

Ive tried everything at Island Burger. In 2014 & 15 id like to say i was their number 1 customer til i moved out their delivery zone. Overall place to very nice. I deeply recommend you call and place an order before going in. It can get packed on any given day or night. If your new try the D island burger or the fish n chips as first choice. Their steak cut fries with tamarind and mango chutney are to die for. Please please go there and see for yourself. Ive put alot of people onto this place. As far as inthe bronx to long Island ive gotten people on island burger food.

Island Burger Island Burger… how dissapointing. No one was more of an advocate for this restaurant, BUT NO MORE. Your staff is lazy, rude, and does not adhere to the standard of cleanliness you once enforced. The food is sub-​par. The tambrind sauce is watered down and absolutely inedible. Sorry, but I kept trying. These taste buds are NOT loyal for shit food and service.

The food is great, the service is fast, the staff is friendly and the ingredients are fresh all the time! Today I tried the Shrimp and Chips, the Shrimp were plump and juicy with a nice crunch. The chips are always good with their special condiments. You must give them a try, the chefs are very nice and greet the customers as well. Thank you

I don’t like saying this part but it’s the truth, Island Burger runs on Island time.
My friend brough me here because (poor child) I was supposed to get impressed with Trini (style) food.
Two points to consider when you’re this thoughtful :
1. No one can make TRINI food like a real TRINI COOK can.
2. I’m here in this nation to appreciate other cultures, I get enough of my own whenever I want.
The thought was still sweet.
It’s a small space on Utica off Church Ave. The food is cooked to order so it my make sense to call ahead.
We paid $ 9.50 each for two meals. One beef rib and the other baby back. They both came with a side. They offer the usual sides such as potato, macaroni, fresh salad etc. I think that price was pretty decent, considering we got enough food to feed an army or two AND the food tasted sooooo good! It didn’t taste like Trini food but was really tasty all the same.
The service wasn’t 100%, it wasn’t even a close 65% and they operate with the attitude that «we food good so people go come an’ buy regardless ah if we service good or bad» typed with a Trini vernacular pardon me.
Apparently their borderline arrogance works because they seem to be doing good business.
And I hang my head when I say If I’m in the area I’ll purchase from them again. Like I said the food was tasty! I also like that I can see my food being prepared. I won’t go out of my way to come here though. And I’ll keep looking for alternatives if I’m around this side of town.
But still Island Burger, tasty food and lackluster service is like a good looking, fit body dumb arse man. Only good for a hookup. No meaningful relationship wanted with him/​them. Plus Island Burger? what about the folks who have been completely turned off and away and aren’t even interested in the occasional hookup, in giving you another chance? What about them? I want you to do well, I tasted your potential. I wish you the best.
Alll it takes to go from good to great, from a 1, 2 or 3 star into a true STAR are:
1. A few smiles.
2. You should discuss your in-​house issues at the back.
3. Pass a broom and
4. Develop a bit more of a professional approach to your BUSINESS.

Shark burger never fails fish and chips is so great. Everything on the menu is so good never disappoints.

I had the shrimp n fries here and it was soooo darn good and now i might try their salmon burger or grill chicken sandwhich… Cant wait!

Very unprofessional… The dark skinned cashier always have a nasty attitude… The young girls in the front always goofing off and playing around amongst themselves over your food… they never got what you want or always get your order wrong… Step it up… Super wings is up the block!

I decided to get some food here because I had to stop by to buy a few tickets for an event. (They sell tickets for various parties in NYC)
A friend of mines told me I should get the fish and chips with everything (condiments) on it. I called ahead of time and placed my order– the woman on the other end said 15−20mins before it’s ready. Upon picking up my food, I got a glimpse of it and let me tell you, it looked so delicious. In all honesty, it was really delicious. The fish tasted just right and the chips (seasoned potato wedges) were seasoned and cooked to perfection. I enjoyed it. Also, it was a lot of food for $ 9. I couldn’t finish it. I offered some to my boyfriend, but he politely declined, as he does not eat from just any restaurant or anyone.
Well best decision of his life! I woke up with the worst– I repeat WORST diarrhea. I was so sad because I really enjoyed the food, but NO food on earth is worth such vial diarrhea. the food was clearly not handled/​prepared well. I will not be trying Island burger again!
Two stars because the food was good, but they lost three because if anything, food should be prepared properly. Focus on cleanliness first and flavor second.

A quick yet tasty meal ! I had the shrimp and chips for 9 dollars you get a lot of food I was full and forced myself to finish the rest because it was so good. Island burger is known for their sauces the garlic sauce is amazing. I’m normally not a fan of garlic but that sauce with my shrimp topped it off. Other sauces in which I tasted all were mango chutney, tambrin sauce (my second favorite). I want to go back just to try their shark!!!

In celebration of National Hamburger Day, I’m having an Island Hamburger; Beef patty + cole slaw + Pineapple + lettuce + tomato + Swiss cheese + sweet potato fries + garlic sauce + tamarind sauce + Shadowbenny… the service staff is polite and prompt. Try their fried fish and shrimp on a Friday… Delish!

Love it. An burgers, fries, ribs, and wings island style. Its small express style. You may wait a little and that’s because the food is fresh. A variety of sauces to choose from for your meal. Pleasant service. Love it!!!

Island burger is the closest thing to a Trini fast food spot in Brooklyn. I love the fish and grilled shrimp combo with chips. They recognize it’s all in the sauce. They offer traditional and island sauces such as garlic sauce, chadon beni (cilantro), tamarind sauce, pepper sauce along with ketchup, bbq and honey mustard. Grab a banana solo or homemade grapefruit juice to wash it down and you’re good to go. Pre-​order to avoid the wait and enjoy.

Okay so I had to return to Island Burger to see if their service had picked up & it did & I’m happy because I really love their shrimp & chips.
The price for the shrimp & chips has raised from $ 9 to $ 9.80 so you get a few more shrimps.
The fried shrimp & chips is all I ever order eventhough I’ve been going there for years. It’s just too delicious ! All my friends that I’ve introduced to Island Burger likes it a lot too.

This place is awesome. I came in a few weeks ago with my boyfriend to try out their food after school.
Firstly, the menu is very simplistic. I really like that because it isn’t too overwhelming. This is a Trinidadian burger joint so one should expect the toppings to be, umm, Trinidadian.
I ordered a Shark burger with fries drizzled in chadon beni and garlic sauce. My boyfriend ordered a beef burger with sweet potatoe fries. We waited a few but not too long as the food was made fresh. I also really enjoy that we can see them put the toppings on our burgers (you know, like Subway).
Despite its out-​of-​the-​way location, Island Burger gets five stars. The employees were kind and the food is awesome. I’ll be back.

When i went there i ordered D Island Burger and it was amazing but… The people there are not professional. For example, the chef in the back was playing music on the radio, but mind you i have my three year old nephew with me… And the music he was listening to was very explicit and sexual it was so bad i had to stay in there car till my food was ready. Oh, and it didn’t help that the chef was singing along… Very loudly. Well anyways, three stars for food minus two for etiquette. :)

Skipping lunch just to try their Salmon Burger with Sweet Potato Fries was hella worth it. The garlic sauce over the fries? Sooo freakin good !! Can’t wait to try the Shark Burger

There is a legitimate reason that I’m still single and that’s because I’ve been saving myself for that special someone like Island Burger.
Be forewarned, this is not your typical fast food burger institution and be ready to experience something so completely orgasmically, fantastically delicious, that will leave you begging for more time and time again.
Foreplay: Steak fries drowned in garlic sauce, pepper and ketchup. Just a note, pepper from the Caribbean is similar to how I love my women, exotic and disgustingly hot to the point where it’s literally, a pain in my arse.
Main event: Grilled chicken burger topped with lettuce and red onion. Don’t forget the cheddar cheese please. On my burger, a thick spread of garlic sauce and chadon beni (it’s similar to cilantro but more potent). The chicken patty is always well seasoned, succulent and so juicy that the flavor is dripping from each and bite that I take. Deeper and further as I work my way into my meal, an overwhelming feeling of sleepiness takes over me. In anticipation, the home stretch is the best part of the meal but I can never finish.
Round after round, toying between my fries and burger, globs of garlic sauce splattered all around and a scrumptious morsel of my burger just laying there in the box all alone. Stuffed to capacity, I drift into a heavy slumber.
It is a necessity that several locations of Island Burger are established immediately, so people can bask and share in the happiness that I feel with my future wife.
With that being said, Island Burger will you marry me?
