Inkwell presents Brooklyn’s house of comedy. Comedy Club. I was invited for a drink and then ordered to stay and enjoy the comedy. I was game, if you’ve read my last review on Inkwell you’d remember this is the spot I lost my karaōke virginity. I was ushered down to the back… lorsh mama never knew there was a back all the times I’ve been here! Pass the toilets it opened out into a nice little space. Large enough area, dimly lit and couples gathered around tables. Damn you Valentines day! The Usher put my drink on the table at the very front but I politely declined, I know what goes on at comedy shows, I wasn’t gonna be their prop lol. Funny host Miles warmed us up right. I’ll never forget his quote: «Create sh*t at your house!»… that was his message to all men who spend all their money at strip clubs. Lolololol! He was like«I go to the strip club, but I spend my money at home! I get freaky at home with my own woman! We have $ 50 in singles just for that occasion and when we’re finished, we grab the dollars up and put them back in the draw» lol. He was a great host. The first act was Ms. Jenelle Jackson who had us rolling with stories of her menopausal antics. Divine taught me a bit about Brooklyn including post gentrification. Now I know if you live in Brownsville you live in the«Vill». Bedstuy is simply«The Stuy, do or die». PeeweeDee was the 38 yr old«youth» who teased the crowd… mercilessly! And Sinks oh my word! He touched on current events, music, history and politics. I learnt that Shirley Chisholm on January 25, 1972, became the first major-party black candidate for President of the United States and the first woman to run for the Democratic presidential nomination(US SenatorMargaret Chase Smith had previously run for the 1964 Republican presidential nomination). Sinks was great! Chatting with him after the show I found out he did a few shows back in my country and knew quite a few people I’ve worked with. What I really appreciated was each comedian touched on the topic of WOMEN and how we should be treated. They were on point! They ain’t never lied! Happy Valentine! The End.

They have live music even on weekdays, no cover, good about buy backs. This feels like a jazz club in the Village or Harlem, but cheaper, cooler, closer, and it’s street level.

Cool laid back spot. With every drink they comp a shot of the same liquor! Bonus! I’ll be back!
