Went here for a pizza today for lunch and it was horrible! The sauce tasted like a bad jar sauce, soggy dough and cheap with the cheese. For a $ 14.00 individual pie I expected much more! Very disappointing! I have eaten here twice prior and had a good meal but not this time. May try one more time.

I have been coming here since it first opened. The past few times I’ve noticed that they were extremely disorganized. Recently they overlooked us «acccidently» and gave another(larger) group our table after we waited well over a half an hour at the bar. This was not a a party who had a reservation(which the waiter acknowledged) and when I pointed it out I was rudely told it was an error yet they kept us waiting until we finally walked out and went to talde. Most recently we were again pushed to the bar because they needed to fill a table with three people(we were 2) although we arrived well before and were waiting patiently. Just know they are saving tables for larger groups($) even if you are on a list. The food is good but not above average so we won’t be back-which is unfortunate because we’ve given them a lot of business, recommended the restaurant to neighborhood friends, and wanted to support this local establishment.

Great pizza and pasta. Good cocktails. Not fastest service, but I was the earliest drinking!

dinner last night at Hugo & Sons. Absolutely terrific. We took the«F» from Manhattan — quick and easy. Dinner, service, ambience — everything was just great. Burata with prosciutto wrapped around peaches sensational; pizza truly great; pasta with rock shrimp amazing. The host couldn’t have been nicer. The vibe was family friendly but hip and cool, somehow. A definite return!

If you are looking for a scrumptious Italian meal, then I would definitely recommend giving Hugo and Sons a go! I came here with my mother one day for lunch, and we were very happy with our experience. The restaurant is decorated with fresh flowers, and overall has a very relaxing atmosphere. The workers are very pleasant, and make sure that you are taken care of whether it be needing a refill of a beverage or if you are looking to get an additional item of some sort. The food was delicious, and we would definitely visit again.

Pros: Nice space, room for little ones, unique tasty pizzas Cons: Been there twice, both times the table service was spotty, it seemed like we were being waited on by committee. $ 14 for the small mediocre beet salad, The $ 1 oysters at happy hour are the smallest oysters that I have ever seen, I wouldn’t have paid 50 cents for them.
Had a really nice dinner here earlier this month. I had the Strozzapreti Genovese(Pasta twists, braised brisket sauce topped with ricotta). I can’t remember what my friend had — possibly linguini with shrimp. We also shared a beet salad and enjoyed some delicious bread and wine. Everything was really good. I should add that I usually try to save half my dinner for leftovers, but this was so yummy I couldn’t resist eating the whole thing. :) I would have skipped dessert but my friend was taking me out for a belated birthday celebration and she said I *had* to get dessert(twist my arm, why don’t you!). I said okay as long as it was something she would split with me or at least take some tastes. We decided on the Flourless Chocolate Pistachio Cake(with orange mascarpone cream) and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the atmosphere here – it reminded me a bit of Mariella’s. I look forward to coming back to Hugo & Sons, hopefully soon.

NOT wheelchair accessible! I’m not sure why businesses check this box on Unilocal when they have a tall step up into the premises from the street. I’m also not sure why this wasn’t addressed when they did the recent extensive renovation to the building. We came, and had to go find another place for dinner. Two stars only because the separate pizzeria entrance around the corner is accessible, but there is no connection from there into the main space.

Met a friend for dinner and ordered the beet salad and the Hugo pizza. My friend ordered the Bianca pizza. Everything was delicious but the stand out was the beet salad. The beets were perfect and soft surrounded by crispy Apple, candied hazelnuts and crumbled blue cheese. A really delicious combo. The Hugo pizza was fresh and tasty — the crust was so light and chewy while also retaining a crisp crust. Highly recommend — really cute ambiance with a chill vibe and seemed to have good specials at the bar. The service was lovely as well.

Me and one of my best friends ate here for an early dinner on Saturday. We sat inside but they have a tables on the side street which will be great when the weather gets nicer. They have beautiful fresh flowers on the tables that I believe they get daily from the place across the street. We ordered the Hugo pizza and the Mina pizza to share and they were both yummy. We also got a bottle of white which was a little over priced but not too bad for a restaurant in Brooklyn these days.

Girls gotta brunch. My friends and I decided to try Hugo & Sons for a Friday brunch and we hit the nail on the head. I loved the upper class diner like décor. It has this very family friendly vibe. Our waiter came over to our table all smiley and ready to serve our anxious, hungry stomachs. I like that they have brunch options at early hours. It’s not an easy find in Brooklyn. We ordered a bunch of dishes including some morning cocktails. The avocado toast was amazing with perfectly poached eggs atop. Second best I’d say was the french toast. I definitely recommend those. The others were OK, nothing to really write home about. Coffee and cocktails were wonderful but I feel like the prices didn’t justify the food portions. Overall we had a lovely time and I’d definitely like to check out their brunch and dinner menus.

On my first visit to a restaurant that features pizza prominently on their menu, I judge them by their margherita. Hugo’s version with perfect crust, fior di latte, a lovely sauce, fresh basil, and a drizzle of olive oil… was delightful. I’m so excited to have found a new favorite in Park Slope! I’m really excited to return and try other items on the menu!

Pros: Nice looking restaurant Good food Cons: Pricey for what it is Smallish servings Coffee not included with brunch We felt a bit rushed at brunch At least during the brunch time of day, this is very much a family restaurant, with tons of kids, which may be just right for some and not for others.

Had a lovely delicious dinner at Hugo & Sons! I heard of this new place for months, and I was finally able to stop by for dinner last night. The place is relative small, but beautifully decorated with red sofas and old styles ceramics floors. The menu is not huge, but full of dreamy Italian options. Me and my boyfriend shared a burrata with apples, celery and nuts, and then have two different pastas: linguine with shrimp, and tagliatelle with sausage. Both incredibly good, pasta al dente, done on the spot. We were really pleased. We tried the dessert too, and their cheesecake was incredible! Soft and light as whipcream. Love it! A great new addition for the 7th Ave South Slope restaurant area.

This is our go-to lunch restaurant in Park Slope. The Chattanooga pizza is one of the more creative and delicious pizzas that I have had with the zestiness of the gremolata and earthiness of the brisket. Their new Bjorn pizza is a great play on eggs Benedict. Not a pizza fan(if that is possible), you can’t go wrong with the enormous portion of chicken Milanese or the hearty strozzapretti with ragu. Oh and the music is straight out of my own record collection, complete with a great selection of ska and a healthy dose of the clash.

FLYINGWATERBUG!!! Yes, my family went back for dinner last week(weekend of 9÷12÷15) and saw a flying water bug in the restaurant. My Mother wanted to give dinner a try with my sister. My mother and I didn’t love brunch here. Below, I am going to write about my brunch experience. The avocado toast was extremely salty, and the avocado was not as ripe as it was suppose to be. The side salad was overly bitter. Sometimes people like a bitter green. This was EXTREMELY bitter, and I could not eat the side salad. I had mentioned this to the waitress, and it would have been nice if we were offered a small side salad in replacement to the one that we were served. I had asked what it was, and she thought it was romaine. Nope, I think that would have been the way to go. I was really excited to try brunch here. I felt like management was very kind, and hospitable. Our waitress was friendly. I came here for brunch with my Mother. Sandwich was good, but not spectacular. Felt like it kept falling apart. I wanted a wow factor. Bloody Mary had a beautiful presentation but lacked the horseradish«shrimp cocktail» feel that I like. It seemed a little watered down. Green tea came in a simple pot(nice touch). A couple came in after we came in, and received their food first. Our waitress noticed this and apologized. Nonetheless, I will never forget this. Especially since our food didn’t meet the Park Slope expectations. The food was overly salty(the table to the right of us needed to send their food back because the immense amount of salt). What I liked most about this restaurant is the outdoor seating. It’s a perfect place to be in the shade, and be outside during the nicer weather. Not ideal if you have a stroller.

Hugo & Sons is relatively new in the Slope. It’s a squarely Italian place with a lovely wine list and beautiful glass windows. There’s outside seating, which we didn’t sample because of fear of humidity strangulation. I learned two things tonight at Hugo: — there’s a category of wine called«Orange» which is due to the acidity of the grapes. I had an Orange Sauvignon Blanc which didn’t look orange to me, but tasted delicious none the less — Swedish meatballs with raisins and pistachios are an amazing combination. It’s a pity you only get 3, because I could have easily had 30.

I arrived at the restaurant 35 minutes before my companions were scheduled to arrive and watched as more and more people entered what appeared to be a tiny restaurant that would not fit all of them. I worried that by the time everyone got there, we would have a long wait for a seat. We got lucky though and there was a large table available just as the last of my party got there. And when I say lucky, I really do mean it because I have an idea that this place is going to become so popular that there will soon be a long wait time for a table. First of all, everything we ordered was delicious. I had the puttanesca. It was just a bit spicy and filled with flavor. My husband had the gnocchi and was a huge fan. One friend ordered the pappardelle. The other had the strozzapreti. They both cleaned off their plates. I wish I hadn’t had such a late lunch because I couldn’t finish mine. That’s ok though because my husband finished it for me. We did split the strawberry shortcake 4 ways. It seemed more like a biscuit than a cake but it was so very good. I meant to have only one bite but couldn’t stop eating it. Four meals, a quartino of wine and dessert all came out to less than $ 100 before tip so I would say this place is very well priced.
