Really great selection of items you can’t find in other places — like industrial or midcentury modern lights. Really attention-grabbing items that can be the centerpiece of your apartment. The salesman was really nice too, and they are willing to do custom work. This place is a real find!

overly expensive and pretentious… just what I expect on the boarder of brooklyn heights. Heathcliff and Clair Huxtable wouldn’t even shop here and they live only a few blocks away. avoid!

Curated with the same conversational care and attention to detail as RePOP, this charmingly handsome furniture boutique boasts enough distressed french leather chairs and sofas to keep me drooling for days. With an eye that strays away from the overdone trends of the day, Holler relies on good old fashioned design with an eclectic twist. This is the place to select those large starter pieces for your new apartment. Rarely do I get an opportunity to journey over to the BK Heights but this place is more than an excuse to make the trip. Their new location on the corner boasts loads of natural light giving their collection an impressive glow and who couldn’t fall in love with the large taxidermy peacock they currently have on display in the center of the shop? Beautiful lighting, home decorations and seating to die for.

I passed by the storefront on my way to Red Hook a few weeks back, and made a note to stop in ASAP. Holler & Squall is my favorite kind of shopping(see also: RePop, Brooklyn Flea) with a great mix of owner-curated antiques/vintage, re-fashioned jewelry, oh, and the furniture. The furniture! If only I was filling up an apartment anytime soon – this would be my first stop. There’s always the potential for a shop like this to feel cluttered in a bad way, but Holler & Squall has light(big windows onto Atlantic Ave.) and a really charming layout, which lets you meander and feel like you’re making great discoveries. They were recently featured in the Times’ Atlantic Avenue write-up(which, by the way, is a great walk!) but I like to still pretend that that H&S is *my* secret, special place. Ok, fine, you can go. Just don’t buy all the card catalogs…
