Cute window displays and though it may look pricey from the outside, I’d say the clothing is affordable. My only complaint is the lack of inventory.

Every time I pass by Heart Beat’s window displays, I’m allured by the clothing worn by the mannequins — the styles are California-trendy, the cuts are flattering, and the looks always seem to make some sort of celebratory statement(Lets Go Dancing! Girls’ Night Out! Meat Packing District!). Even in its quietude, the clothes have a sort of appealing bravado. The shop is consistently tidy: clothes organized by likable color-stories; handbags, shoes & other accessories shown in systematic rows(rather than the chaotic mess that plagues most accessories stations); sales demurely advertised. And the sales associates are more than polite — always offering their advice and treating customers better than most sales associates would in other Brooklyn boutiques. In other words, Heart Beat has the feel and look of an upscale boutique. The customer enters expecting familiar boutique vendor names like Vince or Tocca — but, to be frank and honest, the clothing and the accessories are not well-crafted. Heart Beat is a place to find the show-stopping dress that anticipates a red wine stain; this is where you’ll find the perfect ensemble for that weekend spin to Las Vegas or that bachelorette party in Ft. Lauderdale. I’m not saying that the pieces are tacky(because they aren’t) — they’re just disposable, episodic. A dress, from a distance, may look fantastic but close-up the fabric is too thin, the stitching a bit too uneven, embellishments too deliberate and cantankerous. But the prices are fair — most pieces don’t exceed $ 50, which is perfect for those nights that only are recalled via blurry, unfocused photographs and, perhaps, a tattoo of some unfamiliar name. So pop into Heart Beat and maybe you’ll find that dress to wear for your next Girls’ Night Out.
