Consider renaming the oyako don or learn how to actually make it the right way… Terrible.

Nice, quiet, cheap sushi place but the atmosphere feels like an elegant place. I enjoyed the sushi and the service. The waitress was really on top of it. Thank you. I appreciate good service, taste and reasonable prices.

Not fabulous sushi. We ordered delivery and food arrived 30 mins later than promised.

The sushi was really good but the inside atmosphere was on the small side. For some reason I found it weird that they had a fish tank with three live fish in there. I do not see this place getting crowded so if you are looking for a quiet date spot with good food this could be for you but if you’re trying to impress your date I would not bring her here.

I’ve been ordering from Hana for over ten years and it’s always been quick, hot, and tasty. Tonight was disgusting. Food was cold, Shuman uncooked, chicken cool, rice refrigerated. Has all the telltale signs of a restaurant on its way out…

Went with my girlfriend for dinner. We got there around ten mins before eight and the place was empty. I had a pineapple mojito it was decent. We ordered shrimp dumplings hot they were good. I also ordered the spicy maki combo it was just ok, I have had better sushi. Will I rush to go back here? Prob not. My friend had a special where if we spent $ 50 we had to pay only 25. There are tons of spots on Smith to try.

Ordered lobster sushi with brown rice for delivery and received shrimp tempura sushi instead. There was eel sauce all over the roll, so I’m not even sure if they gave me brown rice. Yes, I could call, have them refund me, or have them bring me new sushi, but I have no energy for it at this point. As a result, I would not recommend Hana Café for delivery and will not order delivery from them again.

This has nothing to do with the food and strictly pertains to take out. Don’t promise 30 to 45 minutes for delivery when we’re going on 2 hours right now, completely unacceptable and I’m sure our food will be cold. Will never order again.

Never thought about eating here since the place is always empty and seems kind of dead. Not a good sign for a place that NEEDS to move fresh fish. Well my wife bought a coupon and glad she did. We had the sushi platter for 2 and the eel and shrimp tempura roll. Everything was super fresh and there are lots of nigiri on the platter. The roll was very good and generous on the unagi. Service is quick and atmo is practically nil, but all in all great for a quiet sushi dinner.

Favorite local sushi, don’t be put off by the empty tables; great specialty rolls, good service. Sushi Samba on Park was my fav, and am glad it closed, forcing us to try Hana. Firm fresh fish, from eel to tuna, nicely cooked seaweed in miso… would give it 5 stars if the wine was better ;)

Went as a group, as my friend had a coupon that Hana Café accepts. Not many people when we came in but an even larger group arrived just as we left. Wasn’t expecting much but was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food and bang for your buck. The $ 17.95 dinner combo box has a ton of food. I got the chicken teriyaki which was okay(not great, not bad) which came with soup, salad, gyoza(which was great but the sushi looked amazing too), California roll, shumai, and rice. I was very full and ate it all. :) All in all it was a solid choice to hunker down and fill up before a night out.

Jiro dreams of smith street? Hana is a recent discovery for me, and I really like it. What you can expect… A quiet dining experience & no frills décor. That said, the delight will be in your mouth. For what are *VERY* reasonable prices by today’s new york standards, you’re going to get really really fresh food here. The few times I’ve been in there were just one or two other customers, so my service was lightening fast. I ordered the Sushi dinner first time, and the Sushi Sashimi deluxe the second time. In both cases the fish is totally fresh & supremely prepared. The pieces are big. You’ll definitely be full. The wasabi is the real kind. The miso is good. If you’re the type of person who is impressed by restaurants that may not look like much on the outside, but end up being a diners delight, you should check out Hana. It really reminded me of japan.

I really hate to do this but I got incredibly sick from Hana’s Sushi last night. After eating a sushi feast I found myself lying on my bathroom floor waiting for the next round of vomiting and diarrhea.

Decent enough quality AYCE sushi. Incredibly wide variety for an AYCE — at least a dozen rolls and another dozen individuals pieces. Fair price for it, too.

This place has AYCE sushi and it’s pretty terrible. Based on that, I have to assume all their sushi is of a similar quality. It smelled fishy and a bit un-fresh. Quality goes a long way and this place was completely empty except for a single person who walked in towards the end of my meal. Unfortunately there isn’t a decent place for AYCE sushi in Prospect Park. If you must get all you can eat sushi, just take the D train for 30 minutes south and head out to Bensonhurst. The quality will be 100 times better and it’ll cost half as much. Or the alternative is to take any train into the city and go to Ichi Umi. Still would cost less than this place and have much better quality. Honestly, I’ve been out to eat at a few places here and it seems a bit more like a young person’s «quality» meal as opposed to being an adult«quality» meal. Kinda like the difference between Ikea and DWR. Maybe I haven’t tried enough places yet, there’s an Ethiopian restaurant and a few Middle Eastern restaurants that seem like they’d be good, but so far, I’ve been unimpressed with the area’s food.

Nothing crazy special about this place. Pretty typical sushi spot. The restaurant is very tiny and was really empty when we were there. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The dinner box is a really good deal; it comes with your choice of an entrée plus a California roll, shumai, rice, green salad and miso soup for only $ 16. Not my first choice for sushi, but not a bad option if you’re in the area.

Came in here to have a special date with the GF. Had a $ 25 restaurant gift certificate to use and why not towards seafood! Upon entering the establishment at around 7:30 pm on a Friday we were skeptic and questioned the place because all tables were unoccupied. Me, being optimistic /opportunist. No wait for a table or backed up orders, perfect! We began with our drinks, lychee ice tea and Ice mint tea. Then sushi sashimi combo, combination box, and vegetable dragon roll. Everything I must say came out efficient and tasted exquisitely fresh. Bathrooms were clean, no problems with waitress everything ran smoothly. Will be coming back again! Thank you Hana Café for making our experience enjoyable. Total came out to $ 54 but with the certificate $ 29 for all that! Plus gave a $ 10 tip for the great service.

I ordinarily hit up the Hana in LES, but I was in the neighborhood and craving their tuna dumpling appetizer(although to be fair, I have this craving every moment of every day of my life) so I convinced my friend that sushi was totally good drunk food. This location is pretty small and somewhat rustic, which is veeeerrrry different from the LES location, but they had my precious dumplings on the menu, and that’s all that matters in my book! My friend got the seaweed salad, which was good(hard to mess up really) and a few rolls, which were all arranged beautifully.

I enjoyed the freshness of my food. And the Dragon rolls were delicious– the first time I ever tried it. The gyoza dumplings were crispy, yet tasty. The presentation of my meal was fine, but my bf got a Sashimi platter and he was perplexed by the glowing lights/ice packs in his bowl, and I think it turned him off, because he loved going there, but we haven’t returned since.

It’s a secret All You Can Eat sushi joint! Yay! As far as I know, «upper» Brooklyn doesn’t have any of these, and I was quite happy to find out that this place exists. If not for the AYCE, this place is pretty average. But if you’re a hungry person, and I know I am, it’s just fine. They have pieces. They have rolls. They have hand rolls. The yellowtail was pretty good, the scallops were a little old. But like a lot of mid-level Japanese places, they get their fish from the same place. This isn’t an indictment against Hana, but it’s good to know what you’re getting, before you get it. The service was pretty good. Waiter nice, food came out at a reasonable clip, water refilled when levels became low. Basically, it was exactly what I was looking for.

We used a gift certificate and they wouldn’t let us pay with credit. It actually said so on the gift certificate(all it says is «cash»), but what a stupid term to have. I’m sure it was just so they could pocket the tip(which they hand wrote in the receipt), but it would’ve been nice for them to remind us before we tried to pay. It was just shadyness all around. If not for that, I’d give them 3 stars. Granted, it was late on a Sunday night, but the fish just wasn’t fresh at all. Spicy yellowtail is the metric by which I judge sushi restaurants, and this place failed the test. The Philly roll was alright and I couldn’t make heads or tails of the Montauk roll(tuna/avocado), but I’m pretty sure I didn’t like it. If you do come, stop by during peak hours. Also, soapbox time– I have to say that a lot of the bad reviews left for this place are very unhelpful. Some guy was being totally unreasonable in his expectations; other people don’t actually list what was wrong with the food. Be more helpful, people.

Japanese food is probably the only option I have in delivery food in Carroll Gardens area when craving Asian food. Thai restaurants in this area is really not that great(compared to Queens) I have tried Osaka Sushi, Ki Sushi, Hana Sushi. All of these three restaurants are run by non Japanese, which is expected in NY. Until recently my delivery place was Osaka but recently I have tried Hana and it’s not so bad either, compared to Ki or Osaka. It is cheaper than those 2 other restaurants. Hana Sushi is not the best Japanese restaurant but neither Ki nor Osaka is. It satisfies me for what it is. I will definitely order from here again.

This is someplace where a headline spot for reviews would be very helpful, because, for me the best thing about going to Hana Café around lunchtime is the $ 3/dish menu. All of the salads — seaweed, avocado, kani and crispy salmon skin are $ 3/each. Then there are a number of sushi dishes that are also $ 3/each — they have the option of either getting either 2 pieces of sushi, hand roll or regular roll. Then they also have a $ 3/each drink option. When I went by today, I ended up getting the kani salad(because they do a great sliced cucumber in this salad, imho) and I made sure to ask for extra roe on top. Then I got 3 rolls — spicy tuna, yellow tail(with scallon) and the avocado/salmon. Personally, I liked the spicy tuna best because they mince the spicy chili right into the tuna. Oh, and I also got their green tea, which is great on a cold day like today. I spent some time speaking to their day manager, Andy, about the lack of an interior picture — Hana Café is very«cute» on the inside — it only has about 15– 20 tables and the lighting is really nice. After I finish this review, I am going to try to upload a picture that I took today of the interior. Also, it is always nice and warm. Having compared Hana Café’s salad options against others in the area — for the size, flavour and cost, they seem to be much better. It has kind of put me off from having salads elsewhere.

This used to be my go-to sushi place and then I weaned myself off their mediocre food. I feel a little guilty giving them two stars because the service here is actually very good. The two stars are for the food. Nothing irks me more in a sushi restaurant than stale fish. You know when it gets kind of chewy and tastes a little off? In their defense, I do tend to stop in pretty late, close to closing time to pick up my food to go, so I’m not expecting the freshest fish but still. I would rather them tell me that they are out of fresh tuna and to please order something else than give me fish that is clearly past its prime. It’s not like the chef can’t tell the difference.
