Grand Cleaners

I have never had any dry cleaning done but have been getting my pants and jeans hemmed — fast, good job done and a great price at $ 10! I was nervous to get my brothers wedding dress hemmed there but didn’t know where else to go — I trusted them and they did a fine job again quick and a great price!

So over the summer while on vacation I got an email from a «new owner» asking me to come back and give them one more try, and that one cleaning would be free. I went in a couple weeks ago to drop off some tailoring. I wanted everyone NONE dried so nothing would shrink. Basic greeting, not surly, not friendly, not free. Went to pick up today (Saturday) and was not greeted even though I spoke to the man twice… he was definitely one of the MOST unfriendly people I have encountered. My clothes were mended, smell fresh (not dry cleaned I hope) but he refused to speak even when I tried to ask, were these cleaned, or when I thanked him. This «new owner» that had written to me was trying to re-​launch a nice neighborhood place. Up the friendly factor and clean up. I still hope for a new cleaners soon. Oh, and prices have gone waaaaay up, too! I added a star for fixing the clothes as I asked.

My favorite scarf was shredded at the ends from dry cleaning. I went in and the guy there responded, «Only the ends are shredded; we aren’t going to pay for that.» Previous owner, though disorganized, at least never damaged anything.

I sent an employee here to wash some linens for our office. They would not provide him a receipt for the service. I went back to pickup the linens end try and get a business card from them, so I could at least have a business card to submit to accounting. They have receipt pads with their address on them right there on the counter, but refused to give me one and got aggressive with me when I asked about it. Also, they didn’t even notice when I picked up the linens that I didn’t have a receipt/​that it was a different person picking up the laundry than the person who dropped it off. There’s several other laundry mats on this block, no reason to go to a place with this kind of attitude about something as simple as a receipt.

I wish I could say this was a nice mom and pop dry cleaner that’s been in the neighborhood for years and is run by super friendly team of mom, dad and kids that have endeared themselves to everyone in the area.
They aren’t. The folks that run this place are a little surly. The place looks like it hasn’t been renovated in at least 20 years. The sign has faded. Clearly there hasn’t been any real investment into this dry cleaner for decades.
My real gripe isn’t that they aren’t super friendly, and aren’t motivated to upkeep their look and technology. They don’t take cards. Any store front business that regularly charges $ 10+ should take credit cards. It’s good business and good convenience.
Dry cleaners are pretty much all the same. They charge relatively the same price and offer pretty much a replaceable service. With that said it comes down to A) customer service, b) store hours and c) convenience.
The location of this place is ok. The customer service… average maybe. (maybe they don’t like new people in the hood? Seems like get a lot of business from spanish speakers) and the store hours seem pretty good, they were open on a Sunday.
With that said I hope Koreans move in next door with a brand new dry cleaner and outwork and outservice them. For starters all they would have to do is take credit cards.
Do the owners even understand how much business they are losing that way? I doubt they even care. After all, walk by the place and you’ll see that they haven’t bothered to invest in their business in at least 20 years.

Beware. they will ruin your clothes!
Brought in a coat to be mended, and a pain of Raw Denim to be shortened.
Came back on pick up 3 days later and the coat is not done, the pants not hemmed…
Whats worse… I saw the jeans sitting in the back and thought they looked funny and asked to see them, where upon receiving them discovered they had washed my denim! Shrank beyond wear.

I love this dry cleaner! Reasonable prices with great service! I’ve since moved off the Grand stop but I still stop off here to drop my dry cleaning off as needed thanks to their quality, service and prices.
